nothing about anarcy servers? even though their a large and unique part of minecraft history
september WHEN?
Well, I can tell you exactly why I'm coming back. Scratch that, why I CAME back. I used to play Minecraft with my two friends up until 2013. First one friend left us. Then we parted ways with another one. We didn't do anything crazy, a lot of time we were tending to our own things. And this was the first time I tried some serious building, starting from a humble underground temple-style, I guess, home. That dug directly under my friend's house. I was pleased with how it turned out, it was small yet comfortable and even had a light touch of grandeur. Although it took a lot of time because I was questioning and meditating over every single little thing. Then the first overground build - tower on a flying island. It was... okay. Like a zigurat, but more boring. So yes, Mine was part of my history with friends, but another reason is building. Mine is a game that was always about building. There was little in "exploration", because we played at a time, when there weren't that many things to discover. Expeditions were as relevant, as they helped me to make my builds. I chose Mine as my canvas because I got used to how it's constructor works. Voxels here are quite big, but they are close to being near-perfect. Other building games operate on this panel snapping system that I despise. Building units are too big to make anything out of them outside of simple box house. Or you need to build something in absurd scales to be able to decorate. I returned to Mine now. More than 10 years later. My imagination got rusty thanks to depression, I forgot how to visualize, ho to build, and it feels like I've spent these years in a coma - there are so many new things, so many new building blocks that my head is spinning. For now I'm sticking to my favourite sandstone. Later I may try something else.
Minecraft is a serene type of cube. 🤍 마인크래프트는 조용한 유형의 큐브입니다.
the visuals in this video perfectly display ur point that minecraft is more than 'just blocks' and is instead a media of sorts, a crazy metaphor or smth along those lines ... anyways this vid was so creative n enjoyable i hope u get more recognition :)
Brah I can understand you are using chagpt to do these videos come on from 6:30 on
Damn bro I feel to young to watch this This is way too deep
suing you from stealing the name from Stampy's spooky stories
I feel like this video is about to absolutely blow up.
tbh i play minecraft mainly and only for servers
it's scary how accurate this is. every single detail except that i had an ipod touch 4 instead of a kindle fire, i remember watching yogscast, inthelittlewood, sky, bdubs, etho, and bajan canadian and a few more before i could ever play the game, and then mobile happened, before pocket edition was officially bedrock edition, my friends and i would use a jailbreak client to play mobile minecraft multiplayer at about 7 fps, i got my moms hand me down laptop maybe a year later and downloaded a cracked client and ftb to play the "yogpack" a 1.12 modpack based on a tekkit modpack that yogscast would play, which reminds me, it's time to catch up on episodes on Jaffa Factory 2. thanks for the memories.
I fell like i need to hop in a dc call with you.
Why did the 2 minute intro made me cry tho😭
Personally, I played minecraft for the stories it provided. The gameplay, the heart, the connections. It was always so profound and exciting to me, especially when I was small. Now that I'm older, I realize that the things that drove me forward is the same that inspired me as a kid. The stories, the heart... The creation and connection of it all. If one day I gather the courage to make videos just for the sake of making videos, I hope its as memorable as the one you made here
Holy shit this is so underrated, I thought this was from a 1m subs youtuber
I am really, really sorry for the stupid sob-fest below... tl;dr Me just being a sad lad. It's such a bummer... as a legally blind gamer... Minecraft is my only easy option, now. I don't have hours upon days, anymore, to be able to learn the patterns of how to play other games, in the way that I need to. I can't easily detect motion, which a lot of games are super reliant on (which makes sense!), so I have to fail over and over and over again, before learning any kind of pattern to gameplay. When I mean fail, I mean FAIL more than 100 times, on stuff sighted people would probably laugh at, until they realized I do not have good vision... And then there's my other hobbies... they're too expensive and bulky, and I can never stay in one place anymore because my life constantly gets flipped upside-down on a near yearly basis... so having anything that's not compact is difficult for moving, especially since most of the time I am moving, it is forced to be done with a very low budget... Just wish stem cells were allowed to be used, so I could be somewhat cured of my disease and stop losing sight. So... my new, "hobby", has just been to try and spend time with my friends and 2 family members I have left, as much as I can... but they have better hobbies, or partners, or vision... so they're able to do so much more, and I am so, so scared to try anything new... I don't want to get lost in something and forget about the people I love :( (I also have brain damage and ADHD... which can fuel my unfortunate awesome ability to get so lost in something, I won't talk to people for MONTHS...)
Picture this. It's September 2011, and you overhear kids at school telling each other about this game called "Minecraft". Uninterested and not knowing anything about the game, you think "I don't care stfu". Months later, you see Minecraft music videos and find them insanely cringe and also overly adult for some reason. And why is there curvature when everything else is square? This is stupid! It's not until one day in August 2014 that you wake up to music that sounded kind of like sleep music, which your older sibling introduced to you a couple nights prior. You go downstairs, ask if they're listening to sleep music mid-day, and they tell you that they're playing the Minecraft demo on the Xbox 360. They just reset the demo and let you play, and you get hooked. Years later, you're really annoyed by all of these people who think that they can't continue a world after beating the ender dragon. What do these people think the point of elytras and shulker boxes are!? Killing the dragon is part of the _beginning_ of the journey in my eyes. The name is merely just a reference to a creepy pasta character, and also due to the fact that they wanted a technical "end" before Minecon 2011 and rushed it without thinking much about it.
I completely agree with you! In my country, Argentina, people are too polarized in general, in the politics ambient mainly (I don't like much to talk about politics don't worry), I'm in the middle politically speaking and everyone choose me a side always. I think they are a lot of parellelism with the past argentine elections and the current american elections in people's thoughts mainly. That's why I identified with this video, thank you for sharing your thoughs, I really appreciate it :D
Man, this really touched my heart. I think this is exactly what Minecraft is: a canvas to work on yourself and to see others’ art too. Awesome video; the effort and attention to detail is really great. I’m glad I watched!
I'm stuck in a Minecraft loop. Start a world, speed run my way to iron gear in the new crazy ass caves, build a house but not the roof yet, leave the world and come back later, never come back.
Dude, the day you break the loop is the day you get a 400 day old world I know
Not for me, i just play a world and i progress at my own pace until i have explored all there is to explore, got all the armour there is, gotten all pets that i want, and a house that i was proud of, then there is nothing left to do but to quit. I have at least one world like that
@lubomirkubasdQw4w9WgXcQ personally that's how I like the game it's gonna get dry if you rush to max out everything i still have mide enchantments
new crazy caves? they were added 3 years ago
Back in 1.13 I made a world, and I did the best thing for that world... I wrote a journal in it. I wrote down goals, discoveries, funny moments, planned a build or two or... twenty. I signed that journal and started another, and another, and another. I built a house, a clocktower, a huge farm, a few redstone machines, a pyramid in a desert, a greenhouse for my bee farm, a science laboratory by an ocean monument, I built an entire city all my own, and I'm currently building a mega build of the Backrooms that has taken nearly a year already. I'm _never_ bored! I've never beat the Ender Dragon, never gotten Elytra, never beat the Wither, but I will. Because I made those goals for myself. Write in a Book and Quill and name it your own special journal. It's done wonders for my world, all these updates later, my journals are worth more to me than diamonds.
It's a really good video! I loved the essay and the editing, you nailed with the nostalgia aspect! (I didn't grow up watching this youtubers because I am spanish speaker but in our community there were, and there are, a lot of youtubers with the same essence and soul like then. You remind me of those days, thank you!) PD: When I was watching the video I was wishing that end well, because sometimes the issue with this type of videos is that at the end of them, they don't feel conclusive but this one was a jewel. I thought it was from a bigger youtube. Keep it up with this type of videos and you will success! :D
Dear Oakstheawesome, I think you hit the head right on the nail in this video, but I feel like what I have seen personally in my life is that negativity can overrule positivity, in a way that makes society impossible to navigate. I am just a high school student and I always try to have an open mindset, but when the people around you aren’t , when the people around that you love aren’t ok with you being in the middle, what do you do?
I bet ~30% of us cried lol
Minecraft is just a beautiful art.
great video
damn man the sheer level of effort put in to this compared to the response. you have a talent for this bro dont let anything slow you down
on the verge of crying
Minecraft us an entire alternate universe by itself.
Earned the 542 sub!
This is one of the best Minecraft videos i have ever watched Ty for making this
This video deserves more attention! Great video
i thought that the intro was going somewhere else
The very first time I ever heard of Minecraft was at a friend's house back in 2012 as I watched him play it on his Xbox. I was immediately taken in and begged my parents to get it. In 2013, I finally did, getting Minecraft: Pocket Edition on my mom's old Samsung tablet. My sister and I played it constantly, quickly becoming addicted to the endless freedom of creativity present therein. Eventually, we got an Xbox with Minecraft preinstalled, and later when we got our own phones as teenagers we both immediately downloaded it. I actually only just got Java for the first time about a month ago, because I finally have a computer capable of running actual games lmao. For the past almost 12 years I have played Minecraft religiously. Every now and then I found a new game to obsess over, but I quickly got tired of almost all of them and returned to Minecraft. Occasionally I would take full on breaks, but those were always due to my life getting too busy, and never because I got bored of it. I have never been bored with Minecraft, and if 12 years of obsession is enough indication, I don't think I ever will. I still log a dozen hours a week on the game, and have accumulated literally thousands of hours over my life. I've been very bored with Minecraft RUclips recently. The DreamSMP got stale and I stopped watching before its actual finale, Hermitcraft has become repetitive to me and feels more like a chore than anything to keep up with, Dream never uploads, the Life SMPs never really caught my attention, and ain't no way I'm watching the brainrot formulaic blob skin creators. The only MC RUclipsrs I still watch regularly are Technoblade's old videos (may he rest in peace) and Camman18 because I like his little Minecraft trivia shorts, I learn quite a bit from them. But otherwise, I'm very bored with the genre. But the game itself? Never. Minecraft isn't a game. It's an art form. It's an infinite canvas of self-expression. I saw some parent online one time who deleted her son's five year Minecraft world as a punishment and didn't understand why he was so distraught over that, saying it was "just a game." But it isn't. It's so much more. That kid had spent five years making art. Every block he place, every block he mined -- all of them were a small piece of himself he put into his world. If that ever happened to me, I would lose it too. I adore Minecraft. It's become the best-selling game in history, and I'm so grateful it's so popular. It is, in my mind, no less than the greatest game of all time.
bro im bouta cry
BRO hit the BULLSEYE with the kindle tablet
What's that?
@@lubomirkubasdQw4w9WgXcQ its basically this really cheap tablet made by amazon that a lot of people used to have when they were 7 year olds or something
I really loved this essay. I think you should keep going
The intro is just how I find the game tbh
W video
When you were talking about all these english creators i can't even begin to fathom how much i miss the let's plays in Swedish which is my first language, it shaped my childhood and my then favourite game. I remember so many names of the people i watched and i remember that at that time i was truly happy in my life which i no longer am. I miss it all. I am an old minecrafter, i saw minecraft on youtube while it still was beta and i really wanted to try it out but my parents did NOT want to put their debit card onto the internet cause they thought it would drain their bank account for some odd reason. I finally managed to snag a pirated version of 1.0 and i started sharing it around in school and this newfound community FINALLY put an end to my relentless bullying i underwent for a couple years. It was honestly the most fun game i have ever played in my whole entire life. I remember 1.2.5 being the best update ever and when me and my friends had the most amount of fun. (I miss skype 5.0..) Then it all dissapeared around 2013 and everyone left. Then i got older and started seeing how my once favourite game succomed to corporate greed and it frankly, makes me very very sad. I hate to see what minecraft has become. I have tried playing it in the recent years but it it not the same game i once loved and played every day after school. Soon they will pull Java and.. It will be gone. It sucks.❤️
Bro the nostalgia of playing Minecraft way back, almost brings me to tears. You nailed the emotional part of Minecraft perfectly, thanks.
i accidentally heard the first sentence as "its september 2001" and i freaked out
nah its just a game we just spend too much time playing it
