As much of a reputation contractors have for scamming people, demanding payment up front and not completing the job and on and on i want proof of license and insurance as well as itemized estimate in writing. Nothing to do with price as much as the fact that you cant assume a contractor is a person of integrity.

Well I think the self leveling compund needs to be higher viscosity than what you did. The mixing is key I admit. We used 30 bags in my basement. When the floor is sloped no way you can use that thin mix. I guess if you wanna dick with it it needs to be thin cause that stuff needs less troweling not more hence the word SELF leveling

Had my basement floor leveled as part of a remodeling recently. Received quote, accepted quote and had contractor asking for more money to finish the job 30% in. We compromised and I spent the next four months watching him cut corners or find CRs that would cost me more. Job was finished over time, over budget, and mediocre on quality. This is every contractor I've worked with.

Every time work men come in I finish up having to do it right after they have gone. Take my advice do it yourself and know you did it right

Ive been stripping renovating a room today in preparation to fitting an engineered wooden floor and I can see some variation in the concrete slab so I may need to look at having a go at this myself

An itemized bill also tells the customer what they will be receiving so that there is no confusion at any point in the process.

I know I'm an excellent contractor and I'm retired and I only work for myself I don't even work for my family because everybody wants a freebie I cut a lot of people out of my life because they just want my services and wasting my time with nothing in return I would always tell people I'm not a charity organization like UNICEF so you need to go somewhere else I've been screwed over by more customers and you could ever imagine over 40 years of being a contractor

The correct answer is cheap and good because if they’re any good at what they do it won’t take that long and they won’t waste time on a project bc they would want to work on the next assignment since time is money.
