I put this channel together with a view of "Highlighting" some beautiful and interesting places in and around
my home village in Sutherland, Scotland. I also hope it generates some appeal to similar adventurers hoping to visit
the vastness of the area.

The Falls of Kirkaig in beautiful Sutherland Scotland
Просмотров 79Месяц назад
An amazing walk from Inverkirkaig to the Falls of Kirkaig. A low level walk taking in much of the best scenery in Sutherland, The falls are located 2.5 miles from the visitor carpark along an easy to follow track. Gets boggy after a while.

Superb Steve. Fairly blew the January cobwebs away. I climbed Liathach on my 18th birthday, long before they declared it a double Munro, so I haven’t done that one.
@@draffyduck1 A cracker indeed, climbed the other side with Lorna and Andrew many moons ago but it was so misty at the top we backed down on doing the traverse. Perhaps I'll head back on a better day. 👍
Happy new year. Nice vid, thx for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Superb.
Rockin’ into 2025. Great video, keep them coming. Happy New Year and the best of health to you both.
Hi Graham, Happy New Year to you as well, hope you're all deein fine? Would be great to get a walk sometime.
Did the bike have a flat😏
Most of the climbers get taken by boat to the head of the loch and bag the four munros back to the start. Cheats!!🤪No track for the bike I'm afraid. Boat man charges £40 per head, nice wee business for the guy.
Awesome you were there to capture such a beautiful scene!
The cloud managed to disperse when we arrived at the summit. Fortunate.
Looks beautuful😊
Thank you for showing us arround. Very nice. Greetings from Poland.
@Buszkraftowski Thank you for coming in to watch. 👍
Fun Fact Steve. We climbed Suilven on 24th June 2000. Not high as hills go, but the view when you scramble over the ridge just takes your breath away. Stay safe and take care. Regards to Lorna! Graham.
I remember that outing well Graham. Pitched in the campsite at Ullapool where I managed to relieve myself of the contents of my stomach before you handed me a bacon roll and I proceeded to throw it down my thraple!!! Always remember as we were walking up Suliven there's was a lassie walking down, she couldn't see anything from the summit for clag see remarked!! We managed to luck out with the views though!! Good times!!
Nice walk Steve. Stick with it, the drone footage is great. 👍
@@draffyduck1 Cheers Graham. Half of the film taken in Autumn and the other in summer. It's a nice walk at Glencalvie and further along to Alladale. I just do it for a laugh basically, nothing too serious. There's some good videos out there but I'm an amateur by comparison.
Very nice. Thank you for sharing this hike with us.
Hi Graham, never realised was it as far back as that, was just a young loon back then. 🤣How time passes. Hope you're well and still getting out for a walk in the hills, even if its just the "not so high" ones.
That broch is pretty impressive. Must’ve driven past it and never gave it a second look. I might stop next time. Take care, give Lorna good shake.
Ha ha. Mullach Clach a’ Bhlair. Memorable for all the wrong reasons.😂. A fine walk, but a poor excuse for a hill.
Hi Steve, we’ve followed those walls on many a Munro. I’m ashamed to say I only learned last week they’re called Hunger Walls, or Destitution Walls. Brutal. But, every day’s a school day. Take care, regards to Lorna.
Hi Steve. We climbed Conival in June 2001. And you’re right, it was a shite day, we weren’t really bagging them then so we never bothered going along the ridge - there was no view. I’ve still not bagged it. If only we knew…take care, regards to Lorna.
stunning scenery, how long does it take?
It takes about a couple of hours to get round to Barrisdale Bay. 8km in and 8km back out.
@ cheers, could be on my todo list for 2025🫰
@@MrJud62 It's a hairy Journey by car to Kinloch Hourn, especially the last 2 miles or so. Be careful.
@ yeah think I’ve seen that in another video, very narrow single track road.
Aye its very impressive the view of Suilven! Great footage 😁
Many walks to be had up there!! Beautiful! 😊
Yes it was!
A very good vantage point for the views
Hey Steven your fanatic stovies debate video that made me chuckle today. Got my stovies post removed and myself blocked from the HOMEMADE SCOTTISH RECIPES fb group 😂 the admins seemly don’t have a pure Scottish sense of humour. There loss at the end of the day and you gain a subscriber 😃
@@kutluol75 Oh no!! Why were you blocked? Would you like for me to contact the admins to try and get them to unblock you? It was just made as a bit of fun a few years back just because it's a real popular debate. I really appreciate you subscribing, I just do videos for a week but of fun, they're rubbish really but I like putting them together..😉
@ the admin that blocked me stated in her direct message to me “Stovie debating is one of my absolute hates so you can just imagine what I thought of an outside link to a 'stovie debate' video which you chose to add at the top of your post when you amended” 😆 Reason I pinned your video as it was perfect fitting and great harmless humour. She said she’s happy to reinstate me and to let her know. But to be honest I don’t think I want to be around people like that (admins) she even agreed was a fantastic post and and great response. And she deleted a lot of hateful comments before I seen them. I’m in no hurry to return. But many thanks for the laughter 🤭
@kutluol75 Thank you. Facebook is a horrible place at times. Creates a lot of hate and nasty feelings and the comments are hard to beat at times. I've been meaning to do another video but don't know what to do. maybe Lentil soup, or Cullen Skink. These are a whole new danger zone!! 😮😮😮 Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Of course it would be tinged with a bit of humour.
@ oh is there anymore danger territory that stovies lol 😂 definitely lentil soup as that’s a debate in my house having a Turkish husband that adds to the pot behind my back, or my daughter that likes it blended all smooth, yuck lol 😂 The broon sauce chippy debate, Glasgow no Edinburgh aye Can’t wait to see what you come up with
@kutluol75 Thanks for your input I shall have a go at something shortly since we're heading into winter and the long winter evenings. 👍👍
It's a really bonnie place. ❤
Oh wow! The beauty of this nature is breathtaking. Great job. Thank you for sharing💕✨
Thanks for your nice comment.
Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy. Lmao Nice vídeo !
Thank you.
Another great adventure and footage of the lovely falls! Love the drone footage especially under the bridge😊
Ha, just about went into the bridge. Had to go down a wee bit before going under.
Did you know the Kykesku Bridge is celebrating its 40th anniversary!
@@thelmasmart7557 i noticed something on Facebook where someone had added photos from that time. Amazing, two teams, one working on the North side and another on the South.
Wow amazing footage with the drone. Bet you were glad to get back down to that bridge ☺️
Nae half Thelma, It was a long way in and a long way out....amazing day, thoroughly enjoyed it.
What stunning drone footage particularly of the Monastery - well done 😍
Stunning place when filmed from above.
What fantastic footage of the area 😊
Thanks for sharing we'll need to goo for a visit😊
Indeed, a very special place.
Looks a bonnie place to visit😊
What a fine looking plate o Stovies!
Great lighting through the trees but the best bit was def on the swing - now that made me laugh out loud😂
Lorna never fails to impress, she can never resist a swing!! 🙂
Loving the Highland Adventures. Some Lovely drone footage of our bonnie highlands😁
Cheers Teenybash. Just having a go.
It was quite a windy day!
Ever so slightly.
makes me wanna be there!!
At last how my mother made them and she was from Falkirk, I never heard of corn beef used till I moved to the east coast ,Tomintoul, so I beg to differ these are proper West coast stovies hae a guide hugmanay anni
Proper stovies, well done loon. Making some in Singapore for tonight’s game.
Cheers Chum!!
I've seen a lot of "stovies" videos and have come to the conclusion that its is like meatloaf in the US. Every family has their own way of doing it. And the best is always the way "we" make it. LOL I shall be giving this one a go the next time I make a beef roast. Looks yummy. I'll go ahead and order the gravy granules from the dreaded Amazon. No gravy granules in the US unless you live near some kind of international market. 👍
Like the French say we drown our food in gravy, that`s why it`s so available over here, lol
@@andrewluty5657 over here we're so lazy we buy gravy in a jar! It's like gravy jello when its straight out of the jar, until its heated up. 😆 I think you guys call it jelly not jello, so don't quote me on that!
Has to be mutton fur stovies
I dont think people eat mutton these days!
I cant get mutton anywhere now
No "proper" way to make stovies. Leftover *anything*. Leftover "Sunday roast beef"??!! Were you related to royalty? My gran used to say "Ride a day on a horse and you'll get a different way to make everything!" Which I've found applies to most traditional dishes.
'Ride a day on a horse' ive never heard that ever!
You're absolutely right about the beef from the Sunday Roast. What Sunday Roast. We could never have afforded it in our home. I would use Corned Beef instead as, well it's beef isn't it ? You can use this recipe for everything you need to put in with it. Corned Beef stoves, are probably the most made and the cheapest. Beef dripping can be bought in several forms on Amazon. I'm going to buy some after Christmas.
Brought up in Aberdeen and just like I remember
Real stovies. Thank you!
Sounds like tam from still game 😂
bang on
