Best Peak Brightness HDR & local dimming 8K Display Test - blooming
Hi, this is my iteration of a perfect peak brightness test. It is also my second iteration of a local dimming and blooming test. This is to help all people around the world to see the potential of the ever-increasing amount of mini led displays in the future on all our devices. It also challenges OLED screens.
If you find issues on your device's display please share your findings here or on Instagram.

Looking at this on my Sony X90L Full array, LED laughing at people that spent thousands of dollars on OLED. Older LEDs do have issues with blooming, but those are edge lit, the problem with OLED is you lose grays and can get burn in. Mini LED is the future.
Seme issue😢
While OLED is always a king in these kinds of tests I was still stunned how well my TCL C805 mini-led backlit TV with (at this time) the latest test version firmware does. Sure there is a clear difference between where the local dimmed leds are off and where they are blasting at full power around the bright spots but the panels native contrast ratio is high enough that what ever blooming/haloing there is actually looks subjectively pretty natural. I mean, its only normal that bright spots like that would illuminate its surroundings even though technically it is not part of the video. The only clear problem that I can perceive is when the zones switch from one to the other, there is a period where the brightness of the object fluctuates for a millisecond when it moves between the dimming zones. Not a problem in most real life content though.
1:07 Samsung S90C here. holy F that F'ed with my eyes like crazy.
A+ demo. Bought LED and took it back for OLED B3
@FranzWeisbrich , How I can test the Local dimming zones in my TV. Please give me steps to test it.
Hi do you have a mini LED TV?
@@FranzWeisbrich Yes, its Hisense U7K in India with Mini LED and 240 Dimming Zones (as per Company Claims). How Can I make sure its really 240 Dimming Zones?

The brand is called Heimerle + Meule, a very old and traditional German company :)
Watching on my oled 😂 😎
Lul nice. How was the experience having a perfect score? 😄 did you test my max brightness test though?

i have the same problem with my 13 pro max but in light mode it is in left side i want to sell my phone and buy regular 13
Sorry to hear that
This makes me giggle.
It's funny how more light gives you the appearance of better blacks, your eyes shut down the dark aspects when the brightness hits a certain point. I'm finding myself liking high bright or low bright, the mid range brings in the bloom without causing the eyes to close up it seems I spent the whole day tuning my 65" x90j, I'm actually really impressed where I've come to with everything, way better than I thought possible with white pixel clarity, color highlight tuning, and most of all blooming. Keeping basic bias back from the middle is key(I had red bias in the positive), and I brought the multi 1 point way down and 2 point a bit too. If any one wants a full Sony x90j calibration setup, let me know 👍 finding your channel after was cool thanks Franz!
Thank you, glad I could help!
How is it that iPhones, especially the newer models, make SDR and HDR look practically the same? I have the 13 Pro Max and despite the color ranges being vastly different, they look the same to me, but then I go to watch it on my monitor and it’s night and day. How are iPhones able to do that?
Hi. Your mentioned iPhone uses OLED, meaning each pixel emits light by itself. Usual monitors use LED backlight, hence there is always background light on. The experienced contracts is far lower than OLED aka your iPhone. If you watch my video on iPhone on max brightness both SDR & HDR should almost look the same, with lower brightness you should at least see differences in brightness levels. HDR tells your monitor the correct brightness which only works, when you display supports it. Usual monitors don’t do that. Therefore the differences is metaphorically speaking night and day. Hope that makes sense :)
@@FranzWeisbrich Oh right, I forgot that OLED existed.
THEY TRYING TO CONTROL ME LOOK ON THE SCREEN....HE!he!he!he!...🙈🙉🙊
Hey Franz, what's the name of that music? 👌
I Made it myself 🤭 has no name yet
@@FranzWeisbrich wow! That's brilliant i love it 👌😍
I’m really confused lol how do I find the maximum peak brightness from this video?
Hi there. It’s an HDR video. If you have an HDR compatible screen, it will automatically display everything with its individual peak brightness.
Does it make sense?
no
What am I looking for here? Why does your "subscribe" button play the State Farm Insurance jingle?
Hahaha you recognized it. Regarding your question. This video shows your maximum peak brightness of your HDR display. On a normal non-HDR display you won’t see any difference.
@@FranzWeisbrich I have 4k HDR but didn't see anything strange🤷♂
Got a MiniLED screen. Blooming galore
Mini led sucks bro 😢
local dimming usually comes with high latency But it's super bright
@@mouryamk3986 nah. It has its downsides, but definitely got its upsides as well.
@@HeLithium it sure is! I love watching HDR content on it

Sorry to see. Please go to Apple, show them this video and ask for a replacement.
Nice bgm.

Hey. I got mine replaced by Apple now. They told me even the replacement screen can have the same issue. They say it’s not a quality issue but a perk of the screens. My replacement is definitely less visual but still there. This time top left 😅

Hi there :) what do you mean?

Pulled out my phone camera while testing this on my qn900a and realized half the videos on RUclips make it look a million times worse thru a camera vs in reality I was impressed by how well the tv handled all the star dots
Yeah this is something you really have to test in person. Happy for you with your results :)
