RIP Akira Toriyama. You live on in all of our hearts.
I don’t know how to start this video
If you’re watching this, you’ve probably heard the news about Akira Toriyama’s passing. I can’t put into words the impact this man had on my life. Had on all of our lives. Just hearing his name right now hurts, of course it does there’s no way it wouldn’t.
This one is gonna to sting for a while, but Toriyama left behind a beautiful legacy: and I want to honour that in the best way I personal...

It was the style, women looked like women and men like men, younglings like younglings, there was an absolute expression in their eyes and you could feel emotions. Now the adult characters are too infantile no matter their age, have all a too smooth appearance and this cuts a lot of the emotions, heaviness of life or joy, their presence is not as strong...well there are exceptions. The women had more sexy or sharp eyes instead of cute, round and infantilized, those eye styles were more for teens and kids, women had painted lips and a defined nose instead of the little boop xD SailorMoon sure it had round eyes, she was a young girl. Look at Akira's, Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis... I absolutely love the retro cyberpunk anime style...it is simply top tier of all futuristic style. I been follwing a dude on instagram, his focus is retro futuristic and I am starting to replicate this style as an artist as well, this is why i am also watching these videos throughout youtube to study the retro style and futuristic retro. The awesome part is creating that analog camera effect, the big jackets with skinny bodysuits, the headpieces. Cyberpunk 2077 - EdgeRunners of Netflix did a great job replicating some of the style but at same time mixing with the modern anime works and honestly if they had replicated the retro analog filter would had passed easily as if retro. The old backgrounds used to be painted by hand and they had amounts of insane details...Vampire Hunter D was massive in backgrounds and even on the characters, just how many detail everything had...beautiful. I look at JJK latest episodes for example and is so sad, the backgrounds are so meh and simplistic, a blurr, is all so simple but in a way that doesn't leave a mark like these animes did even when they were super simple.

I think something that helped a lot too was the CRT TVs that we had in those days. They added to the charm of that era's anime. Unlike modern displays CRTs felt like you were watching through a window, they gave the images a lot of depth and bit of a 3D feeling. Modern displays make everything look flatter.

90’s anime was a golden era of experimentation that’s been lost in newer generations. I think Miyazaki talks abt this a bit. But some of the soul that was present in older studios taking the risk lead to greatness. But as it’s aged it seems it’s becoming more formulaic and standardized for more safe bets because the studios know more of what will generally work without having to take those risks. It’s become less about the style and pressing against the wall, and more about ensuring a show that will bring in the money. As well as them trying to cut costs b/c the studios have never treated animators well.

I would say it's more unsatisfactory. Minoru nothing inherently wrong. The police and near didn't even have a legitimate reason. To try to stop him in the first place. It's clear that the general public didn't know about the death Note existed only about here's power but not how it works. In that circumstance they couldn't make the death Note illegal to own unless they would have announced it to the general public and explain what it was and what they genuinely look like. And that would cause even more problems for them that would be tons of people who would make replicas of the death note weather for sale to those who kira was in the right. And they wouldn't be able to punish those people for having replicas cuz the only way they could tell if it was real or not is to use it and kill someone eventually the number of inmates on death row would just diminished to zero and they wouldn't have any option. So if they couldn't make information about the death Note public they couldn't make it illegal let alone to sell. To any news channel just the idea that they were chosen to be the ones to announce this massive auction that would have massive effect on the world and the communicator between the owner of kira's power and the rest of the world no news company would deny letting this happen on the simple fact this would increase the ratings exponentially. So there's no way they would try to press charges against the trespasser and that goes even further up in the air on could they punish Minoru for having ryuk go into the building without permission. So even with him being so cautious that was really nothing the Japanese police force or near could do. Unless they're willing to go against the law especially since he didn't use the power to kill anyone. In theory ryuk didn't even have to kill him he could have made the simple argument that since the world was put in after he sold the notebook and gave up ownership of the death note then he should not be punished for this.

i feel like the title would fit better with cel animation more than 90s, not everything here is from the 90s. Akira being from the 80s, and inuyasha notably being an anime from 00s(probably one of the last anime tv series to use cels. Another great film from the early 00s that used cels was metropolis, A dream project between rintaro( legendary director from the 70s, 80s and 90s) And otomo(akira creator).

Near is the loneliest. As we see in the latest one shot. Hes in his usual massive room. Surrounded by screens. Playing with his deck of cards. Ungroomed. A mess. Unlike L and mello, or light even. He didn't make connections. He doesn't have his own watari, even. He exists just to solve a problem solver. I thihk the only connection he really had was Mello.

My personal opinion is that I prefer the older 80s and 90s art aesthetic to today's animation styles. I watch dozens of shows a year and have been watching anime from the time of VHS tapes picked up in rental stores as a kid in the late 90s. I think my love of the medium was brought back by watching so many LoFi hip hop vids here on youtube during the early 2010s. So many great feelings well up inside just seeing an old vid on Triangle Music or any of the other great channels focused on vaporwave and lofi. After a few years of watching these relaxing and beautiful music videos I had to of course start watching the old series I had been away from for a decade. Now I am watching alot of the older anime to see the beauty and love put into each and every frame. Craftmanship and attention to detail define the era even for silly shows like Urusei Yatsura. And the most beautiful ones are always OVAs or original video animation that was released straight to VHS with a high budget and even higher production quality. Watch something like the chase scene in Gunsmith Cats or the You're Under Arrest OVAs and you will see what I mean. This was also a time of very free reign given to storytelling so Sci Fi and horror had a golden era of fantastic series and gorgeous watercolor backgrounds.

He changed millions of lives that never even knew who he was through cultural shifts across the world. He changed anime, he changed our lives. Wherever you are Akira, I hope you get a new existence equal to all the joy you gave the world. You earned Paradise. I didn't know he designed the characters for Dragon Quest too! Man, Final Fantasy 6 is my favorite but Chrono Trigger is 2nd and Dragon Quest is 10th on my all time greatest RPG list. Thanks again Adryn I'm only 7 min in and I already learned something new about Akira! This man had more talents than Houdini! Thanks for making these videos. This is the 2nd one I came across by you, we're talking about Deadman Wonderland in your 90s Nostalgia Anime. I've been on YT for 16 years and my objective opinion is you have a career in this. You are passionate, you are accurate, your content is engaging, and your voice is soothing hence it all works my man. Keep going, you will succeed, Just carry the perseverance of Akira with you and your talent will shoot you to the stars!

With each one, I hope to leave some sort of impact on everybody: whether that be a fresh outlook or just a new appreciation for an old thing you loved. I hope you’re right about me having a future with this but time will tell! Either way, you can be sure I’ll aim just as high as Toriyama did!

@@adrynswebYou have the skills, you have the gifts, Akira Toriyama taught us the perseverance, hence when the world doesn't recognize you Adryn, with the world the way it is, that means you're moving in the right direction. Those that get rejected and fall under the radar yet refuse to be ignored when they have the talent and the fortitude, they become the kings. Think about it. If it was so easy (like Tik Tok idiocy), wouldn't everyone be doing what you do? They aren't so it isn't therefore my friend, you can be. So go be because your videos remind me of nostalgic history. :-)
