In this episode MoS band booker Chris Wright discusses the good, the bad and the ugly of Maid of Stone 2024, including headliner scares, microsoft problems and what really goes through the mind of a promoter when things start to go wrong. He is joined by special guests Oli Brown of Oli Brown and the Dead Collective, who jumped in and performed at the event when one of the main stage bands was forced to pull out and Hannah Heretik who worked backstage as part of the liaison team.

Loved the festival this year, but it really could have done with a larger shaded area (I appreciate that you can't predict the weather) there were people that were really feeling ill due to not being able to get out of the sun. I was ok as I could go to my tent, but there were a lot of non campers that couldn't get out of the sun and were complaining about it. I know shade cloth won't be at the top of your shopping list, but it'd be great if you could consider it Cheers. - Can't wait for the super early bird tickets
As ever guys, an interesting and insightful slant on the Mote Park experience, thanks. I really enjoyed myself this year and am looking forward to 2025 (it's already blocked off in my diary). Pete, see you in the pub again, unless Chris tempts us into the arena on Friday pm! Have a great year and thanks to Chris and the team for a brilliant festival this time round.

Great festival, absolutely loved it. Thank you for all the hard work that went into making it such a memorable time. It was my first time at MOS and will definitely not be my last 🤘 One thing worthy of a special mention is the programme - excellent for a quid, plus the perfect size (memories of being at gigs, thinking, "I must get a programme" then suddenly having this massive thing and thinking, "Where the hell am I going to put this?") Another plus was the centre pages for autographs - because bands were meeting fans at the merch stand we got to put those to good use; I got mine signed by South of Salem, so I came away very happy! Looking forward to 2025! 😁😁

Another enjoyable watch! That bit about Wolfmother was interesting, as we could see a little of that being near the front, for their encore 🤘 Also looking forward to hearing about the changes and if you do manage to make Friday a full day, the sooner the better 👍

Absolutely fascinating stuff. Thank you for sharing and enlightening me with some of the underbelly of the business side of being a band on tour. I shall certainly be erring on the side of buying a bit more merch in future, rather than keeping that twenty in my pocket.

Great video. Gotta love Josie! She always sounds passionate, knowledgeable and the nicest person to have a pint with. Sounds so tough to make a living as an artist nowadays. As a french I have always looked up to the UK scene/ bands (as Lennon said; french rock music is a bit like english wine...). It's sad to hear how hard it is there. I'll definitely keep doing my bit as a Hot Damn! "superfan" :) 2 more things: 1) On keeping merch fresh/ what fans buy: my 2 cents as a fan; I'm a sucker for art, a nice band shot, and signed stuff. I'll buy a nice signed picture of the bands I like, whatever it's on; whether a CD, LP, poster or photo - whatever. I don't have a LP player, but do buy LPs occasionally for 1- a nice large size photo 2- to help the band. 2) About the status of artist and government funding in France (around 58 mins): I can confirm that this exists. it's called the 'intermittent du spectacle' (basically: part-time entertainer). If you work more than 507 hours as an artist (shows, recordings, different kinds of gigs...); you get some support from the govt - as Josie said. There's an income cap or something like that I believe; so yeah; Daft Punk doesn't get that.

@@gladishernandez5102 O yes they already left from a 2024 Europe tour and they did sold out in all their venue...that's why they decided to do other European tour but with biggest venue this time...2026 or 2027 will be stadium you can be sure of it...they probably the most promising band of their generation...just on their way out to blow up the music universe!

A really interesting interview I loved the bit about working with people you can trust, and then the doing it yourself part, absolutely do it yourself until someone asks you!
It’s all about the music first and foremost. After that bands need to decide if they need to incorporate the other stuff.

Great podcast as always. I think in order to succeed, bands need to offer something fresh, visually exciting, and a stage presence that is hard hitting and uncompromising - something that says, "If you like this, great - if not, then tough sh#t."
