Follow this short video to see how mites hide away in brood and under adult bees' bellies. We want to crush the persistent idea that people can "look at their bees" to check for mites and thus decide if a mite treatment is necessary. The best way to check mite levels is by usi...

    Its better to dip your mold in water with a few drops of dish soap in it before applying the wax, I have found a ladel is the best tool, I just half fill my ladel and pour a little wax so it runs to 1/5th of the length and then slowly lay the top down, this will push the wax along the mold and with very little overspill, because you have wet the mold with soapy water this acts as a release agent and the sheet will be able to be removed with zero tearout.If it does tear out you are applying too much wax. Another good technique to remove the wax is to lift the silicone edge and roll it underneath itself and then holding both sides push it forward so the roll extends, the wax will release as you push the mold forward.

      Hi Carl! We sell creamed honey that you can use as a starter: www.betterbee.com/creamed-honey/ch1-16-oz-creamed-honey.asp Or you can grind up your own crystallized honey with a mortar and pestle until the consistency is smooth, and use that as your starter. Good luck!

    thank you for your video! how many days should the machine be run to make light colored creamed honey? would 100 hours, approximately 4~5 continuous days, be sufficient?

    • @betterbee1979
      @betterbee1979 2 месяца назад

      Hi there! We found that 72 hours was fine but 100 hours would also be fine. Rest periods to let the motor cool are very important. Also, running continuously risks raising the temperature of the honey. So, if you go the 100-hour route, be sure to factor in rest periods!
