Preparing for Fall Garden 2023/Cleanup/Nasturtium Seed Harvest/Current Garden Tour
Those sticky traps for the ants are genius! I got a million outside and need to buy some borax, but I’m about to put some of those outside for the time being. They’re all over my Greenstalks! 😩
@@160Days2Lose2 Thank you! Just stick an ant bait in the ground where they are traveling to the greenstalk. It will re-direct them. Also you need to check for aphids if you see that many ants. 🪴
I share your hate of the vine bore and the squash bug. They decimated my squash.
@@adriaward4483 I had one plant I thought was doing well but I chopped it down because I needed the space. Vine was FULL of borers. The plant seemed perfectly fine.
Greetings from Savannah.. Ga Lady..very nice garden and harvest
Hello! Thank you 😊
Love her excitement, you are doing an amazing job introducing her to gardening early in her life, the love of gardening is contagious and will serve her well in her life
So nice of you! Thank you for that♥️
Nice video. I recently purchased a GreenStalk. New subscriber.
@@mayasalter1624 Thank you🥰🥰
@@theheardhomestead You are welcome! Just curious, have you attempted to grow any type of fruit, excluding strawberries, in your GreenStalk?
Inhumane
@@hughlittle9855 how do you treat your ant infestations in your garden?🪴
Artichoke help!!!! Never grows!
They take 3 weeks to germinate, so you should start them in a spot outside keep it watered, make sure you label and give it 21 days. Sow at least 3 seeds in each spot. Then you can thin them. They are perennial in mild zones though so make sure have it where you want it if that’s the case for you 😊
@@theheardhomestead thanks so much. I keep trying. I also love when they flower!!!
Mother Nature not letting up on us here in texas as well I had to dial back my gardening plans due to this craziness
This weekend I’ll be pulling a lot up and replanting. We finally have temps in the 80’s
@@theheardhomestead I just went to the nursery and going to put some new babies out
I love you garden videos. I hope all your replants do well especially your rare Nastruims. 💚
@@FeliciaFantasticFinds Thank you, this heat is trying to take my joy 😂
Just discovered this channel. Just subscribed😊 your flowers are beautiful❤
@@Mylittleveganhomestead Thank you so much 😊 and thank you for subbing!
The borer worm got to my zucchini. I'm hoping I save at least one plant. Nice garden
@@queenteireigns6212 Oh no!! What zone are you in? Thank you for the compliment 😊
@theheardhomestead 7a I think I am in Maryland. I learn something every year. Next year I will be putting the net over my zucchini plants until those moths go away! I bought those potato bags that are supposed to help get the potatoes out but that it really didn't help last year I just dig in the pot..lol I usually don't get a lot of potatoes put homegrown are tasty
You're doing good work hang in there. I'm being resilient too... pulling up, replanting, trynaa keep what I can. ❤
Thank you! You too! That’s all we can do ❤
Lovely garden send some heat to the UK please! 😊
@@maiviola7879 Thank you! Omg if I could put it in a 📦 box I would send you 30 degrees 🤣🤣🤣♥️
My stevia never grows well in this heat. I'm glad you were able to get so much of it. At least somebody is.🤣🤣
I grow it in mostly shade, try a spot close to the house ♥️ mine only gets about 4-5hrs of sun
WRT potatoes, I go by the expectation of, at least 1 lb of potatoes per plant. To get more, fertility is the main issue. For indeterminate potatoes, more soil can help increase yield.
You are 100% correct. I was testing out using a pot (never again) last year we had an amazing in bed harvest 😊 next year I’ll do what I did last year.
Nice video, thanks for sharing your basil process, and those tomatoes were beautiful. 🌟
Thank you, and you are most welcome 🥰
BEAUTIFUL! 😍
Thank you!! 😊
Lovely garden beautiful harvest first time here❤😊
Thanks and welcome!!
Hi! New subscriber sending greetings from Zone 9a Louisiana.👋🏽 I really like your garden layout! 👍🏽The heat has been brutal here too.🥵 Take care & Happy Gardening!🌱
Thanks for subbing! Thank you for the compliment and welcome🩷
I'm in Georgia too! The heat is insane. Lost lots of seedlings one day after planting and even hardening off on the porch.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that! I actually have some seedlings ready to come out of the greenhouse but I’m sure they cannot handle this sun. I’m going to have to find them a partial shade area.
I understand 👍 your pain am in TX when it comes to increasing summer heat climate change is real one of the many reasons I love aquaponics in combination with shade 😎 cloth solved my heat exposure problems
Thanks for sharing
It is my first time on your channel and I have just subscribed. Despite the heath you have a very nice garden. I am experiencing the same thing with my tomatoes. Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the good work. All the best on this journey.

"Dead" love the garden. The heat as been a beast this season.
@@tashastouch815 Thank you! I hope to show y’all a more alive garden soon 🤣🤣♥️ This year the sun scald on veggies and flowers was insane. Last year was no where near this bad.
Your garden is so beautiful, I currently am growing bell peppers and tomatoes with my mom what can i do to help my garden in regards to the heat?
also congrats on 1k subscribers!
@@celestialbrownie3948 Thank you so much!!!!
@@celestialbrownie3948 Peppers like water about every 3 days in the heat. Tomatoes meed the soil to always have moisture, they do not like to dry out between waterings. What are they growing in?
@@celestialbrownie3948 Thank you for the compliment🥰
@@theheardhomestead They are in Wooden flowerbeds, but there's no bottom it's just walls to retain the height of the soil
You could make some hoops out of PVC pipe and add some shade cloth over your raised beds. I think they will snap back.
@@chrisjackson2345 the beds are healthier than the pots because they have more shade over the soil, the pots are crispy I need to figure out a plan for them and I’m trying not to mulch. Last year earwigs had a field day in the cedar mulch I used.
begonia( not geranium) like shade. I live in the high desert. Everything is on a drip. Just seem to do better in the heat. I think things will recover.
@@chrisjackson2345 My fault I keep calling it a geranium 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Yes this heat wave is no joke. My garden is taking a hit too. What variety are those geraniums? Happy gardening
I’ll see if I kept the tag and I’ll let you know. 🩷
Someone corrected me in the comments it’s a begonia, and for some reason I keep saying geranium 😂 in every video but it’s a White Begonia❤ I got it from Home Depot and the bees love it.
Fell over and fainted 😂. I’m sorry but I was tickled by how you said it. You are so done with it all. The sunburn the fainting, the struggle…. 😅
@@GospelOutside they showing out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Girl I recycle all of my soil. Too expensive to keep replacing. Just amend and repeat as long as it’s not overrun with bad bacteria, pests etc.
@@GospelOutside oh I don’t throw out dirt its going back in the same pot. My watermelon is going in there.
Yes the heat and the brutal sun rays are no joke! I got burnt within 15 min or so from being outside. Imagine what the plants are experiencing.
@@GospelOutside so many white leaves! This is the worst I’ve dealt with in the last 3 years.
New subscriber. Same my tomatoes taking a hit. Nice harvest ❤
@@rvbliss Thank you for subbing🫶🏽🫶🏽 and yes my peppers may not make it.
Not me in Augusta about to give up... I said that I would just wait til fall and try again. The only thing I've been able to harvest is peppers and some Herbs, my yellow squash was blooming , and I have a few beans but they are burning up.
@@mochaangel1967 replant the squash now and you’ll be in the safe zone 🩷
Get a shade cloth it helps big time
Yes it sure does. My greenhouse stays 10 degrees cooler with a 40% but I ordered a 50% to replace it.
Nice garden set-up though.

You are most welcome ❤ they have all tolerated up to 119 degrees thus far, I added shade cloth and a fan but it still got hot but it was a tolerable hot because of the fan.
Thanks for the garden tour everything looks great. What was the flowers that almost died in front of greenhouse? I love how you are teaching your baby girl how to garden and let her help out. It’s so sweet. ❤
