Dude that part where you slipped on the snow by Deadhorse... I remember being there with no snow and thinking it was pretty sketchy. Very thin trail and a 20-30 foot drop off just below the trail. Glad you were okay.

Great video. Are there maps of this trail? I have watched a few videos and it seems like most get an off course a bit. I am an older man who hikes fairly long distances with my dog and this looks like it needs to be done. I am doing the Colorado Trail this summer-early fall. I am an East Coast hiker, White Mountains NH and Long Trail Vermont so I am used to super steep trails and endless rain. I really don’t get lonely but I admit my dog is all I really need. Sorry for the long-overdue reply. Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I bought a NatGeo National Forest map or two from a nearby visitor center. I think it was also a ranger station. That got me by. It helps the Uinta range runs east-west, rare in US mountains. Usually aiming roughly for the next mountain top or chasing the setting sun helped me have bearings. I see All Trails app has a Uinta Highline map. I haven't used their app much, but it looks worth researching. And you're right. It is easy to get turned around. I did briefly. It's a trail one should always bring an emergency beacon and two-way communication device. I bring a Garmin inReach and corresponding smartphone app. We used it to summon a helicopter when my wife got very sick in the Sierras. I can't recommend that little inReach enough.

@@2fargonebackpacking132 If your looking for a long trail the Sheltowee Trace is an amazing trail. It's around 350 miles. It Strats in Big South Fork in TN and goes north through the Daniel Boone Forest to just north of Moorehead, KY. The Pine Mountain Scenic Trail is another great trail. It goes through Blanton Forest which is the largest tract of virgin forest on the east coast. If you love big giant Eastern Hemlocks and Appalachian overlooks then you'll love that trail. Then of course there is Red River Gorge. That place will change your life. There's just something special about that place. You get a feeling there like no other place on the planet. The Sheltowee Trace will give you all you want in a trail for real. Waterfalls, arches, overlooks, creek crossings, and dense vegetation. There is also another trail I'm not sure if your familiar with that is close to KY, and that is the River to River trail. It is 161 miles and it goes through the Shawnee National Forest. I have not been on it yet but I have a really good friend who has hiked it and he say's it is an amazing trail. Plus, if you would ever want to meet up in KY and hike some trails just email me and we can coordinate that way. I appreciate the kind words. Black Hills are simply amazing. I'd say 80-90% of the trail was well blazed. The blazes near roads and trailheads were sparse, thanks to some sticky fingers over the years. I never did find a solid source for water. I'd reach out to some Black Hills Hiking FB groups right before your hike to get a decent gauge. I went during a strange high-water week. It can be a pretty dry trail. I'd bring a 4-liter water capacity during normal summer months. I carried ALL my food, 10 days worth. Ended up hiking it in 6.5-7 days. Whoops. Rookie-ish mistake. The Pactola Lake marina or visitor center would likely hold on to your food. I'd call make arrangements to be sure. If I ever do the trail again, I'd definitely try to resupply. Absolutely stunning, Ive got a true appreciation for this video after have hiking the trail for myself. The first 8 or so river crossings you had were all dry when i went through, i had a 26 mile stretch with not a drop of water on the trail all the way from Dalton lake to the horse camp outside of Sturgis. The ATV section sure was hell wasn't it? Nemo sure was a sight for sore eyes, i was pretty much out of battery for my camera by that point so i was extremely thrilled to see it (all other camp grounds with electricity were closed for the season) Glad to see i wasn't the only one to walk the road and skip the section of trail when i got to Pactola. All in all an amazing video and amazing hike my man. My most favorite part of the trail was most defiantly the hilly prairie area at 22:00, the sun setting behind those hills was the single most beautiful thing i have seen in my entire life. Its too bad you missed out on the summit of bear butte at the beginning and had to go back to finish it, but its also a good thing cause you wouldn't of met stylo and slider otherwise. Thanks again Mike!

Thanks for the kind words, man. I'm glad you liked the video and even happier you got to experience the trail, even witch such a brutal dry stretch. The ATV stretch was tough. The Canyon early on was the toughest part for me. Nemo was a true oasis and the bartender was super helpful. It's an awesome trial, one I just might attempt again sometime. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

You're in for a treat. Bring a high water carrying capacity though. It can be a pretty dry trail. I sure did. Reach out to WhiteStarStudioSD@gmail.com. They'll give you a ride for a fair price if their schedule allows. They've helped multiple CT hikers. Hope to see video of you on the trail soon!

Excellent video man, well done. Can tell you put a lot of work into it. I really want to get up to the Black Hills one summer, looks like a great time.

Thanks a ton! Really appreciate it. I did work long and hard on it, with janky, free, open-source software too. But it got done in the end! Black Hills is a really great time for everyone. Great summer destination. So much to see and do.
