If it's rainy or has been raining, it could get muddy. My biggest concern would be the wind, as the rim of the badlands can get some really bad wind gusts, so make sure and check the weather beforehand. We didn't see any tenters there at all, but did see people camping out in the back of their pickups underneath the night sky!

It’s a great BLM camping spot. Just make sure to check the weather first for rain and wind. The road could get muddy in rain, and if it’s windy and you’re on the edge, it could be pretty powerful!

I would agree that it's nice to be able to day use hike and not feel like you are getting side eye from people who have set up camp! Many years ago it wasn't so bad, but I guess as the spot got more popular, people ruined everything ! LOL

Nope...Wall Drug is literally a world apart from WalGreens! Put it on your travel list...they have plenty of RV parking, even for 5th wheels!!!

LOL... we were suckers for the billboards along the highway and HAD to stop!!!

There are literally walls and walls of photos of people holding signs all over the world with the distance they are from Wall Drug... a very clever advertising gimmick! (and it worked with us...that and the free water!)

We are based in California and did a 6 week trip all around California you can see on our channel...we tried to hit very diverse places all over the state. We have been to Oregon and Washington but want to return for a deeper dive - any suggestions of places to go are appreciated!

No fence between the two areas..but the campground is only clothing optional at the pool, which does have a fence around it.

Ha! We don't have all the answers... but there is a model train setup just in front of the office... 'The Hill' is an area of the campground with full hookups. Not sure what the Tan Barn,Forbidden Forest or Hook Point Is, but I am sure they are just areas of the campground they named, just like 'the hill' where we camped.

Thanks Allen! We should have included our off-campground adventures in the video..as we did go to the Circus Museum, Cole porters birthplace and grave, the county courthouse, and a really cute coffee shop in downtown Peru!

We have been on the road 2 months now and love it. We converted it to the 12 volt power supply so we don't need to turn the inverter on. It's been great...we were at one campground in the trees and had a hard time finding a clearing, but found a little spot and got coverage..though not as quick as a clear sky would have been. Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Thanks for the added info on the vibe and weekend events! We were bummer we were only able to stay a couple of nights during the week, but on our next cross-country trip we will be back! (BTW loved the wooden deck at our site - very cool!)

No nights stay, we always pay our own way and do our own thing. We wanted to give a rundown on the facilities, talk about the frisbee golf, and tell people it’s new to encourage support. Take this a a sign that you should go there in a weekend and report back to everyone!!!!!

Hey Conner! Definitely agree..Boomerang is in a class by itself..and have the nicest shower house of any campground we've been at..can't wait to see what the clubhouse (to be called The Ballroom) turns out! Hope all is well and hope we cross paths again soon!

Yea, I kept saying volts when I meant amps. I tried to clarify in the text I put on screen- you can tell I’m not an electrician! We have two 100 amp hour lithium batteries in the rv.

Starlight Lodge in Lenoir, North Carolina. An LGBTQ Tiny Homes and Campground community... we did a video on it last year and we really liked it a lot!

There are two areas, the outback, which is a covered space in the woods, and the Backfire, for the after-midnight campfires. Both areas are connected to the tenting area by a series of trails that you can hike, bike (we used our e-bikes) or scooter. During the week I saw several deer on the trails, and lots of squirrels. They also sometimes host dance parties in the outback.

Camp Boomerang is always a good time! One of our favorites!

There is 'The Outback' a covered space in the woods, you can see it on the map.

Its one of our favorite campgrounds...and keeps getting better!

Hi Allen - probably not... Boomerang is our go-to campground in Michigan now...after discovering it, we will probably just keep going there! Java and Jazz is free.. it's hosted at one of the seasonal sites and they serve Coffee, donuts (or similar) and have Jazz playing... a great mellow Sunday morning tradition there (and the new Coffee Cart is awesome!)

Ha! Well we won't get into Politics, but I do think Gay Campgrounds are popular in more rural areas of the country since they are farther away from 'big cities' where there are nightclubs and places for the LGBTQ community to congregate.. Gay Campgrounds take the place of that in rural areas.

We do! Not sure if you looked at our channel, but we did a whole 6 week tour of campgrounds all over California... and later this month we will be discovering other great campgrounds on our way back west. (Does that sound like a reason to subscribe? LOL)

Hopefully you had tongue firmly in cheek when you wrote that 😂 Like James and Paul, I have indeed had many pleasant experiences with straight people at state parks, BLM lands, and private campgrounds, but in America today GLBT+ people cannot just assume that they will be accepted (or even safe) in amongst the general population. For example, it was just in April 2022 at Canopy Oaks rv park in Lake Wales FL, that another camper threatened to call management over the fact that I have a 1 inch by 6 inch rainbow sticker on the back of my RV, claiming that I was a “groomer”. Or this past May, at Trail of Tears state park in Missouri, where I was having a perfectly pleasant and normal conversation with a neighbor who immediately whisked his whole family inside their camper when my husband came over and introduced himself as my husband. I’m certain that you are very welcoming of everyone you meet, and your message of inclusion is encouraging to see, but understand that for GLBT people, especially those who don’t fit gender stereotypes, when vacations are limited to maybe one a year, with a choice between a destination that will definitely be welcoming and inclusive, and a place where one has to try and appear “normal” to minimize the risk of a negative experience, choosing the GLBT campground is the safe and easy choice.
