Fly Fishing in Western Wyoming for Wild Cutthroat Trout
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.2 месяца назад
After enduring a two-hour, bone jarring, teeth rattling and tire ripping marginally improved rocky road, my wife and I welcomed the sight of a forest service cabin our home for three nights. I fished a beautiful headwater stream with my old Sage RPL 5 weight. Choice of fly pattern was not critical as the fish were plentiful and hungry. Although I brought a sling pack full of fly boxes, I only u...
Spring Fly Fishing in Wyoming During the Stonefly Hatch

The rainbows and browns were not yet looking to the surface in the early stages of the black stonefly hatch, so a Prince nymph was the ticket to catch these wild trout in early June. A short slide show featuring the four subspecies of cutthroat trout, in their native Wyoming range. Completing the Cutt-Slam rewards fishermen with a handsome certificate from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Fly fishing and horseback riding in the Wind River country of Wyoming
Просмотров 31311 месяцев назад
The New Fly Fisher film crew invited this "old" fly fisher to join them and fish the upper East Fork of the Wind River in late fall. The fishing at the base of the Absarokas was tough as much of northwest Wyoming received unseasonal amounts of precipitation all summer, making many streams clouded and marginally fishable. Exploring this beautiful country is so rewarding that the fish were just a...
Camping and Fly Fishing in Wyoming's Grizzly Country
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.Год назад
When I arrived at the stream, I found it running high, turbulent and milky. And totally unfishable. So I set up a camp to use as a base. I then bounced around to other drainage basins which were not impacted by recent rains. Three streams were visited. It took a bit of trial and error to figure out what the fish were taking. But that's part of the challenge we seek as we explore grizzly and bla...
Fly Fishing a Small Wyoming Canyon Stream

Hiking and fly fishing a canyon mouth in east central Wyoming. Used a 6'6" 3 weight Sweetgrass Mantra cane rod, balanced with a Hardy Flyweight reel and DT peach line. The water was high and challenging this early in the season. Music: Michael Nix, "Release" drive.google.com/file/d/1OPgvLlleZP8V133Z
Fly-fishing Wyoming Headwaters

After shooting Tri-X and Kodachrome film over a 50 year career, I recently transitioned to digital video. This film documents some of the solo fishing and camping trips I enjoyed during the 2022 season in Wyoming.
Awesome Video Randy, this shows the true Beaty of Wyoming
Excellent video Randy.
Excellent! My son and I fished this stream in late June but you had much better luck than us. We did do excellent on the west side of the range.
@6:30 I fished there just a week ago... it was a long off-road driving... and just caught one (lost two) on size 14 flash back pheasant tail overall it wasn't easy fishing. what's the white thing attached one foot above the fly? a yarn indicator or dry hopper? the best fishing experience i ever had in wy was undoubtedly Caldwell creek north of Duboise
@1:30 what motel (airbnb) did you stay in (if it's not secret). @8:45 wow that's far away from any civilization... just hope you carried some water though. Great fishing action Thanks for sharing! Oh and you can catch big cutthroat trout fishing the Green just below the Fontenelle dam make sure you park at Trailrace C.G.
My wife and I stayed in a U.S. Forest Service cabin. We had to pack our own water.
Great video. Looks like it was a fun trip
Love the shirt! Thanks for sharing the video! 👍👍
Awesome video- what is the elevation there?
About 8200.
@@GlenrockGraphics I tried to find it on my ONX map, what town was it near

Wyoming sucks...their stream access laws are dinosaurs...
Beauuuuutiful. Looks like a grand time, and respect for the hike in/out!
Thanks, Randy for sharing another adventure with you.
I'm a minute fifteen into this video and I already love it! One old fart to another, I suppose.
Loved the fact that you tied flies and then put a pop up box in the corner showing which fish took which fly. Some of the video reminded me of areas I fished several years ago when I stayed between Cody and the Yellowstone (East) entrance (I think it was Wapiti?). Hired a fishing guide in Cody and he set me on some REALLY beautiful browns (some whitefish, too) in or near Shoshone Park. My only complaint is that you had to set the video to pop/rock/country music (I stopped at the 14 minute mark). It's your video, your channel and you can post what you want, but why would you ever ruin that perfect natural scenery with birds chirping, water gurgling, and cicadas humming with loud music? Do you realize how lucky you are to be in unspoiled country? I hope you're not the guy that brings a boom box to the stream side and blares it on level ten while you're fishing . . . . other than that, I loved it.
Thank you enjoyed the video very much. Will you share with us what weight rods you chose to use on those waters. Tx
I like to bring my 6'6" Sweetgrass bamboo, 3 weight, and a 30 year old Sage LL, 4 weight. These are not streams requiring power rods.
even old fools are out glorifying and hotspotting ,usually only young yuppies
Awesome job. This is my goal for the summer.
Beautiful country, beautiful water, beautiful fish! Looks like the company couldn't be beat either. Priceless memories for a lifetime! Awesome!
Congrats on the slam. 6 of us drove from Alabama and completed it last year as well. I too videoed and photographed our trip. 50 now, hope to be doing this for years to come too.
Randy! You really are the Trout King! Nicely done.
Excellent video! Native cutts are special. My all time favorite is the beautiful snake river fine spotted.

Great video ... thanks for posting. Any sign of Grizz in those locations?
Ample signs (tracks, hair on trees, clawed bark on Aspens) but no sightings -- this year.
Enjoyed this very much! Really like the format you have come up with for your fly fishing videos. I hope you keep on making them.
Thank you for taking us along!! As someone who's closing in on retirement, and purchased my retirement home in Worland a couple of years ago, I can't wait for the opportunity to do the same.
I will be 63 in three months. Retire at 64 sometime after January 2025. I was thinking a good condition Scamp trailer (14-16 ft) or similar. Leave Houghton, MI in April for Montana/Idaho, drop south into Wyoming/Colorado, and start heading for New Mexico in September. Start heading back north in October. That's my dream. Very nice video. Thank you for sharing!
Great video. Nice to see the classic flies being tied and used instead of a bunch of plastic/foam that looks like it came from Toys-R-Us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved the music. The rest was pretty good too! 😎 Thank you for sharing (and filming and editing!).
Glad you enjoyed it!
Drop the analogies to artists and writers. It was weak. The rest of the video was good.
Very much appreciate these videos. Just subscribed. 66 yrs. old, and Wyoming is calling me. Hell of a place to retire and live it out. One question: why no wading staff?
I do bring a wading staff. But I don't use it when the camera is rolling. I fish a lot without the camera, and I guarantee I have a wading staff then.
@@GlenrockGraphics 👍👍 I've just gone to knee pads! I'm tired of falling/tripping and cracking my knee-caps. Old age sucks . . .
Very soothing! I am on the west border by the Snake River. Is that a S&W 41 Mag for protection? Thank you!
Ruger Blackhawk, .44 mag.
Well done sir! As someone else who has passed the "hike into the back country" age, I applaud you.
Awesome job! This reminds me of the, no offense at all its a compliment, old school videos of the past. Refreshing to see this type of editing. Tight lines friend from Montana.
Wow, thanks!
This is brilliant!! Great video. I love how you flash the fly up on the screen, when you catch one. Awesome!
Thanks a lot!
Cool video. You’re a lucky man. I just became a subscriber. You ever run into any grizzlies out there? Your cooking area is awfully close to your tent. 😮
@WHISPERFLYTEPRODUCTIONS Sheridan
I enjoyed and appreciated the video content you created, including the classical music. I see you were wearing a shirt from Kelly’s shop. I have property right down the road. Subscribed.
Beautiful classic music in the background!
love the narration. subscribed !!
Poor fish handling. Get a net.
Get a life.
Honestly, this was a great video. It amazes me that you had a drone taking above shots, GroPro footage on your vest, and a tri-pod camera getting side shots. Just the logistics of this on top of the beautiful views and great catches has me blown away. I look forward to more.
Great video bro.
great video!!! (personally. I would rather hear stream noise instead of concerto noise. Silence is golden, less is more.)
Really enjoyed this! I hope to make content like this. I caught a beautiful wild cutthroat amid stormy conditions on the lower Mckenzie this evening. Keep up the great work! - Sam in Oregon
try caldwell creek north of dubois and shoal creek near kozy campground
Native Cutts! Awesome! I am so glad you have decided to create fly fishing content and post your videos. I look forward to many future videos! You live in fly fishing paradise. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice video Randy! Camping, fishing, cooking...what's not to like!
Awesome video! Please keep filming and posting your videos. You definitely have some unique advantages that can set you apart. It looks like you are located in Central Wyoming and know a lot of the small streams in that area. Definitely an area not fished very much and not known as well. Love that you are using a cane rod from Sweetgrass Rods out of Montana! Between your location, your use of bamboo rods and most importantly to me your age. Motivating the rest of us to keep up the fly fishing. I hope to see regular videos. Loved seeing your old truck also. Excellent job!
Your video just popped up on my recommendations. Thank you for sharing. I recently retired and I am 57 years old and was noticing there are very few older fly fisherman posting videos of their adventures to RUclips. I also noticed I had lost my motivation. Your enthusiasm and efforts being 70 years old have re-energized me to get out and start fly fishing and videoing the adventures again. You also hit a lot of my favorite places. I hope to see a lot more fly fishing videos from Glenrock Graphics, you did an excellent job! Thank you!
Very nice Randy! well done and look forward to your next one..
