I have never seen condensation form on my plastic-covered windows. My baseboard heaters are directly underneath the windows. I have a humidifier running because it gets so dry.

Oh you legend! Here I am agonising about whether this would be a good idea or not and you just answered all of my questions in one video. I'm ordering triple glazing because I want the U value against cold - and you're telling me I'm unlikely to get them in triple glazing. I'm concerned enough about u value to get warm edge spacers, but you're pointing out that aluminium blinds will circumvent that. I was concerned about cost...and you're pointing out that they're expensive. I'm kinda going off the idea now! :-)

What cleaning product is safe to use on windows that are coated with neat glass? I would like to pressure wash or soft wash my house. If I use industry standard cleaner for my siding, would it harm my windows if some cleaner got on my windows?

I think I might have ruined my uncles windows by turning it that full last turn to make sure it’s shut tight and now we have one of the windows stuck wide open.! Turn the crank and it will open wider, but can’t get closed past one crank. Did I ruin it all the way and do we need to have the whole crank replaced?

There is no requirement that laminated glass has to come in an IGU, anymore than any other glass pane has to be dual pane. In fact, in certain parts of the country laminated can be used by itself and still meet code since a softcoat LowE coating can be included between the lites of a laminated sandwich in order to achieve the required SHGC value. Add an exposed hardcoat on surface 4 and you have the required U factor as well. I agree that putting the monolithic lite to the exterior is preferable in an IG unit that includes laminated, but there is no requirement to do it that way, just that it's a better idea. Also the single lite (as opposed to two lites in the laminate) doesn't have to be tempered, it can be annealed or heat strengthened as well.

Vinyl windows are the longest most expensive snake oil in the history of snake oil. And foam will absolutely improve the user experience by noise reduction. So say what you want about air gaps. But if the frame has no foam sound can pass right through. Use your loaf.

I sell windows. The main way a consumer can know if its a quality windkw is look at the warranty. The back side is where all the exclusions will be. A better built and installed window will have a lifetime parts and labor warranty and only exclude acts of god, which wouldn't be fair to make a window company pay fir anyway. Most sales people will not actually show you theres warranty. Theyll just say it has a lifetime warranty. Read the fine print.

Warranty is good as long as they stay in business.
