Sri Ramana says: You are neither your body nor your mind. Immortal Self you are. Do we have a body and mind in the deep sleep? No. However, we still exist. When asked, how did u sleep? We reply: 'I slept well'. So this shows we existed in deep sleep. However there was no awareness in deep sleep but we were completely blissful. So whats the difference between deep sleep and waking state? In the waking state, there is awareness but no bliss. This entire creation arises once the 'I' thought or the ego arises in the waking state. So the hurdle for the deep sleep bliss in the waking state is the 'I' thought or the ego. This ego is nameless and formless, however it always clings to a particular name or form. If the ego has to be introverted, it should stop clinging to names and forms. As it gets introverted, it merges into its source, that is the heart. Once the ego reaches its source, it loses its existence.

@@nannagarushort3857 'I' am comprised of both body and mind. My body does not cease to be when I am asleep as others will testify. My mind also exists when I am asleep but is in another state and does not control my body. I would not say that when I am asleep I am in a state of bliss, but my ego does not crave anything. My ego wants things, primarily for bodily comforts but also to try to satisfy the desires of my mind; things such as recognition and respect. You assume that there is something else apart from mind and body. You call it heart. Others call it spirit. This may or may not exist. Hard to tell isn't it? I find the teachings of Buddha easier to understand; life is suffering. Accept it and strive to want less in life. You'll be more content and your ego will not make you and others so miserable. You don't have to believe in anything other than mind and body for this.

It has gone into its source but still has an existence and is not yet destroyed. Thats the reason, you again wake up. This may or may not exist. Hard to tell isn't it?--- No not at all. If we are able to see something in our waking state, its due to sunlight. Can we deny the existence of the sun? No. Similarly we cannot deny our existence, which doesn't need a sunlight or any other light to acknowledge. It is because Existence, Knowledge and Bliss is our very nature. Call it heart or holy spirit, we acknowledge our existence only because of it. I find the teachings of Buddha easier to understand---- All the true mahatmas have taken the humanity towards the same goal. If you find Buddha's teachings to be apt, please carry on. I am referring to the Nirvana state mentioned by Buddha. Ultimately have the Nirvana state as your goal.
