Nice recording, but not the mono 78 rpm version that appeared in this album...this is the re-recorded version, when stereo recording and better sounding equipment came in during the 1950s.

Remines me of waves

This version has been used in the television series " Heartbeat " on at least 2 occasions . The first time I heard it I tried everything I could think of to identify the artist/ version , but without success . The second time I very quickly recorded some of it ,which was enough to successfully complete a Google search , which lead me here ! Whilst I have always loved this piece of music , I consider the original version to be compromised by the lack of a decent bass response , with the bass line being dominated by the bass drum ; in other words " thump thump thump ! So I feel that this recording would have to be better , apart from also being an enjoyable arrangement . The irony of this situation is that my immediate impression of seeing the record cover is that I believe I actually have a copy of this record which I have not played for decades !!! 😳

Beautiful,an artist i discovered recently is Alberto Giurioli,his music is haunting and emotional,i was listening to Classical FM in bed and heard his tune called Tutto è bellissimo,i had tears in my eyes,well worth seeking him out,all his own compositions.

My uncle Audé gave to me this LP in 1990, bring me now such memories.

I love your youtube channel,you have a great collection of classics here,James Last ect,its a great channel for a Dj to unwind with.

I agree,it was a great tv series,the theme version you have used was done by Cyril Stapleton & his Orchestra,not Edwin Astley,the original composer.Cyril Stapleton was an English violinist and jazz bandleader,he sadly passed away in 1974.His Orchestra did cover versions of quite a few tv themes of the time.I love this version of Astley`s theme for Department S,i always thought it would of made a brilliant outro theme for the series,for its dramatic opening sound.
