I have a 22yr old son and 10yr old daughter and you are right…Open communication is extremely important. I’ve always told my kids that if they are mad at me or upset about anything then I’m completely opened to them telling me exactly what’s on their mind and I won’t get mad. Ive learned a lot about myself and how much children are aware to everything even when we don’t think they are paying attention. On a side note..I can already tell this preteen thing with a girl is going to be so much harder than it was with my son. It’s crazy how gossiping and being caddy starts at such a young age.

Thank you for sharing your story. No doubt this will help many people. It’s crazy how there’s so many of us out there that have gone through similar experiences/struggles. Especially as children. You are absolutely right that everything happens for a reason. I know it’s been said many times and may sound cliche, but everything we go through is what makes us stronger. ❤
