Spaying it Forward

Spaying it Forward is a neutering program for stray cats and dogs and is currently active in Shkoder, Albania, Ipoh, Malaysia, and Kotor, Montenegro. Launched on August 31st, 2020, Malaysia’s Independence Day, the two organizers hope to free at least some strays from life-long suffering. They also want to show their appreciation for the rescuers and feeders who help the strays. The organizers believe neutering is the best way to help because it will reduce the number of strays that the rescuers have to feed, vaccinate, treat and/or shelter.
Please make a donation to help the rescuers. Each female spayed is tens of kittens or puppies prevented in the cat’s or dog’s lifetime. For transparency and accountability, each donation along with the donor’s name, and date will be clearly listed on our website. Thank you.

We have personally trapped and returned more than 500 cats as part of our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) projects. Returning the neutered cats to a relatively safe place such as Kotor Old Town, or to a colony with a dedicated feeder gives us joy and peace of mind. On our first visit to Shkoder, Albania, in February 2022, we met a cat with a badly injured paw. He is one of the main reasons we started our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project for cats in Shkoder. Gjergj is the OG but not “Original Gangster”. He is our Original Gjergj, and we plan to help many more like him.
