Let's compare an ASUS X53S laptop from 2011 to an ASUS X54C laptop from 2012. Both of these I picked up from my local thrift store for cheap.

The refurb work is done and I'm very happy with the results.

I found this ThinkPad at my local Value Village, but it has a password on it so I'll have to reinstall the OS. It's still a very cool laptop to find out in the wild and I'm looking forward to getting it refurbished!

I bought this laptop at Costco some years back, but it never was that great... I think I'll stick with Best Buy if I'm shopping locally. Of course, there are always lots of online options, but I'm more of a hands on kind of guy.

This video was made to help anyone who might be trying to refurbish one of these classic old ThinkPads. I also have the drivers saved to The Internet Archive for those who might find this helpful.

I found this at a thrift store for $14 so I had to pick it up.

To my surprise the hard drive only shows about 18 days usage on this laptop that was given to me. Not bad for a free laptop!

This was the first issue of a wonderful magazine that is very nostalgic for a lot of kids from the 80s, 90s, and even the 2000s.
