Its certainly a lot more complicated when children are involved. This happened to me when i was younger, being the child, and we could see who we wanted to spend time with as my father was physically abusive to us. He did try and brain wash us a lot and which I'm sure your ex partner has done. I just hope it works out for you and your children can see who loves and cares for them more. The role you can play in this to show your children more healthy love and hopefully they gravitate toward you. What is in your control is the healing and steps you can make for yourself, and build yourself back up again. I hope for the best for you.

Sounds like a joyful experience. Yep, these women can be extremely violent. And going back at them in a violent way would not make a difference. They never stop. They would rather die than to give in. It can go out of hand very easily turning it into a lifelong disaster.

@ssing7113 Sorry to here brother, certainly is not ideal and no one should have to go through stuff like that. Sometimes wonder how someone can get to that, i guess there in a tremendous amount of hurt and pain to do such things to others.. The ex i had did try to hit me a fair bit, though as bad as it is, i experienced an abusive father when i was young, i wont enclose the details, but it was very ugly and not ideal. Luckily though we got out of that when i was very young. So i think just comparing to what we experienced there, the hitting from the ex mrs wasn't to much hassle. Have sympathy for you though, unfortunately very ugly people internally..

100% hit the nail on the head. I’m the exact same, from the life I grew up with and the friends and family I had, I didn’t know someone like that could exist. I guess it just shows how hurt and how much these people are truly struggling, so compassion can come in there. But I feel things happen for a reason and we can learn from these things, and how if that happened now things would be a lot different, which means we’ve learnt from it ! Yes I agree to be a lot more aware and I think for me I sometimes now can be a little to cautious and it might be beneficial to understand that there are a lot of beautiful kind and loving girls and women out there, and to not be disheartened by this one tough experience. There’s hope boys, and I remind myself of that. Thanks @chocolatecookie8571 ;)

The point and lesson for us is to learn about codependency and childhood wounding. Self focus. Boundaries. Self love. So it doesn’t happen again and we live life taking care of ourselves first…

Hi Mick ! I somehow have just seen this comment now, I didn’t get notified when it come through unfortunately.. I really appreciate the comment. It’s definitely a lot lsss common for men to go through it, and yea i'm sure it can feel pretty lonely and weird for a lot of men, so hopefully things like this reaches the right young and older guys. Your so right with all of it, and yea look it just gets to a stage where you just need to accept that it happened, realised why it happened for me it was a lack of boundaries and a lack of following my true authentic / instincts (as you also mentioned). Once you’ve realised your play in it, then to realise your not all those negative things this person tried to make you out to be, to also realise you’ve built a whole lot of resilience from this and your going to be better off for it, and to then just start living the life and be the person you were going to be. Start to use it as fuel, switch it to a positive, not a negative. Takes time but we can and will all get there Thanks again Mick, best of luck to you too ! 👌🏽

@@Pat_Kovac Hi Patrick, thank you for your response, yes its a long road to recovery and to be able to see how the part of our personality that got us involved so deeply with these nightmarish individuals is a gift, we are fortunate to be able to self reflect and learn so much about ourselves which after sometime we become the best possible versions of ourselves. Theres a lot of grief that comes with this process though, letting go, saying goodbye to your old views/beliefs of yourself and others and how the world works. New perspectives will bring new possibilities!
