Could you also demonstrate how you start this process from the very beginning to get to the point you're at now? I would like to know how to start off from the beginning.
Hi - I've got a few videos for picking up stitches - this one might show you precisely what you're looking for: ruclips.net/video/4LlTpwXkWVg/видео.html
Beautiful ❤
Thank you!
Thank you!! My seam turned out invisible. That was so easy and satisfying!
Music to my ears (eyes?)! I am so glad you have a beautiful seam. Keep up the good work!
So easy to follow, thank you very much.
Thank you! Happy seaming!
Quick, clear, no useless loud music covering your explanations, and no talking during 10 minutes before the actual tutorial, thank you so soooo much! Exactly what I needed!! Big thank you
Thank you - you totally get what I'm about. Glad my video helped you! Happy knitting.
Looks easy…until I have to purl the English way 💀 I only know how to purl the Norwegian way. Any other way I literally cannot wrap my mind around it
I know that feeling - it's hard to teach your hands new things, especially when you're already purling so efficiently with the Norwegian. I'd try working a few stranded projects in the round so you don't need to deal with purl... and then work a stockinette one-color swatch in English purl to get used to it. Good luck!
there are similar videos but this one did it for me after watching this 100x
Thanks so much! I try to keep things simple - glad you're knitting!!!
Why does the ends of the my rows fall apart half way through??
Hmmm... I'm not sure. If you have a local knitting group, a quick visit with them might be helpful so someone can see what you're doing and how to fix it.
Excellent tip! But you must be careful when threading in the cast on tail so that you mimic the cast on edge.
You could use a tapestry needle threaded with your yarn to smooth out that space afterwards, too. Happy knitting!
OMG! You Rock...thank you so much. This technique is awesome!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Happy knitting!
I understand what you demonstrate but what if only a small numbers of sts used for cast on - I have 12 as I want to make Christmas bell in round rather than having to join with a seam at the end. Obviously, 12 sts will not stretch enough yo meet at either ends. HELP !😂
You'll have to use a small circumference knitting technique like Magic Loop or Double Pointed Needles. I have a video that shows DPN being used at the crown of a hat so you can get the idea of how that works: ruclips.net/video/79pUN2B6R04/видео.html BUT, I will say I've got fabulous seaming tutorials on my channel. It might be easier to make your Christmas bell flat and seam them. Good luck!
Why is the grafting bit speeded up?? Can’t see how it is done 😢
My plan with this video was to go over the overall concept of shortening a piece. Sometimes pieces can be shortened at the bottom/top and an edge is then worked. In this case, I was taking out fabric in the middle and grafting was the best way to reconnect the pieces. The grafting took about 20 minutes, so I didn't want to have the video that long. I have a grafting tutorial here, though: ruclips.net/video/A-PwmxPO7YQ/видео.html I hope that helps you!
That’s raglan seams ( preemptive txt nightmare 😂)
LOL! I thought maybe there was some new type of seam I didn't know about - thank you for clarifying! Happy seaming.
Love your video, so clear! I always use mattress stitch to join Falange seams but hadn’t used it on sleeve and sides. I definitely will now after watching your video. Also what a great tip on how to deal with a seam that is slightly shorter than the one your join to. Brilliant. Thank you.
I am so glad that the video was helpful for you! Happy seaming!
That is a really helpful video, thank you! The only problem...how do i start this? I see you made at bottom just with the white and idk how to do that😅.
Your brioche patterns will usually indicate how to do your set-up row. In the case of my swatch, my set-up in the white was done as k1, (sl1yo, k1) repeat the ( ) to the end of the row. On the next row, you start incorporating the brk stitches. Good luck!
Just what I wanted. This will be a much easier way to finish the armholes on my knitted vest top. Thanks.
Fabulous! I love crochet for a quick and sturdy finish on vest armholes. I hope your vest turns out well.
OMG! After so many years, I’ve finally nailed it thanks to you.
I am so glad to hear that my video helped you. Happy knitting!
@ 👏👏👏
Looks like a knit stitch.
I’ve recently been slipping the second stitch purlwise, then completing as usual, it helps it to sit a little flatter. Give it a try, see if you like it.
Fun tip! Yes, it can be worked in a few ways and I do like the second slip purlwise method, too! Thanks.
Thank you, very useful :> what yarn did you use for this?
Thank you! I used Yarn Snob Yarns "A Wondrous Worsted" - www.yarnsnobyarns.com/
Can you pearl into the first stitch, that is, the slipknot?
Yes, you could absolutely purl into the slipknot to work the first cast on stitch purlwise.
@@ShainaBilow thanks ever so much
Thank you so much! I may understand this yet!
Amazing! I bet you will - happy knitting!
You are very good!...
Thanks so much! Happy seaming!
This didn't work. I still have the extra stitch.
Hmmm... I wonder what went wrong. Can you double check your count before and after the join? Once the stitches are joined, you'll combine two stitches into one, thereby subtracting that extra stitch.
Thank you so much! What a nice clear explanation
I'm so glad you liked it! Happy knitting!
Oh my ghad, the 2nd one is a heaven sent technique, I'm a crocheter and have been really struggling with knitting bad badly want to learn. I've watched so many tutorial, twisted my yarns and fingers but still couldn't get the purl to do the thing. The middle finger technique (tho I used my pointer) did the trick, I'm in my 2nd row and hopefully I'd see that V stitch (so much for a beginner and I put myself through this😂) but really THANK YOU
YAY! I'm so glad that you found the video helpful and that it clicked for you! Happy knitting!
is this the same as a purl stitch? forgive me, i’m an amateur knitter who does a scarf or blanket every so often 😆
Hi - this is NOT the same as the purl stitch. The purl is the reverse of the knit stitch. The knit is worked with yarn in back, needle starting out going up the stitch. The purl is worked with yarn in front, needle starting out going down the stitch.
Thank you, thank you. So well done.
I'm so glad it helped you! Happy seaming!
Thanks so much I was wondering about the side the wool should be on ❣️😂
It's one of those things that somehow gets skipped over in a lot of beginner knitting lessons - Glad it helped you. Happy knitting!
Perfectly explained, thank you!! ❤
Thank you!! I'm so glad it helped you.
Do You have to carry the 2 colors all the time ??
That's typically the way stranded colorwork is done - since it's a repetition of colors in one row or round. Other colorwork techniques like Intarsia, striping, or mosaic knitting don't require two colors to be held at once. Happy knitting!
Thank you for such clear, direct, simple and effective instructions !!
Thank you so much! Happy seaming!!
Thank you!!!! I love that this video was so straight to the point 😅
Thanks! I try to make my videos that way - I know we watch them because we're in the middle of a project and want to get back to knitting! Enjoy and thanks again for your comment.
this is so helpful! 🙏🏼
Thank you so much! I'm glad the video helped you.
Thank you! Clear, precise and simple! 🥰
Thanks so much - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy knitting!
Excellent. Thank you!🎉
Enjoy! Thanks for watching.
As a crocheted in trying to knit since so long , you are the first person who explained it so nicely
I'm so glad that my video was helpful to you! Happy knitting.
so practically crocheting with knitting needles
Very similar. The yarn wraps the opposite way around the knitting needle, though, so that's an important piece to note, otherwise your stitches will be twisted.
soooo helpful - thank you! Love the easy to remember "the stitches point to the seams" and the A/V way to look at it.
Thank you! I'm so glad my video was helpful to you. Happy seaming!
You are so good at teaching knitting!
Thank you so much! That's very kind of you to say. Happy knitting!
Lovely ❤
Thank you!

Thank you for this! Very clear. Now I can start my sweater pattern that uses this cast on, which is new to me.
I'm so glad the video is helpful to you! Happy knitting!

Thank you so much!! Happy knitting
you're the best!

Dang wish i saw this before i completely unraveled my 12th almost acceptable attempt at a sock😅
Oh, no! I hope the sock is coming along nicely now!
@@ShainaBilow the sock is kind of coming out okay, I feel like the more I unravel because of small mistakes the better I get with each attempt.
@@miuchan107 I definitely learned a LOT ripping out projects and re-working them when I was a beginning knitter. You're on the right track!
