Painting a pool black is a terrible idea. The black of the paint could trap heat and heat up the pool water up to temperatures exceeding 100 F. The water could be heated to boiling, killing anyone in the pool.

Black pools are dangerous as the sun is magnified into the pool via the water causing the black pert to absorb all that heat and energy, heating it up to such an extent that the pool water could start to boil

What a waste of time. Our in ground pool is 50 years old, and looks completely normal, but below ground behind the liner it is plywood on top of 2x4 framing with a layer of 1/8" thick foam over the top. You don't have to go through all this crap. When you want a new color just change the liner color.

This is a really cool concept! Sure do hope that the area it’s in doesn’t get too hot cuz since the color black absorbs light, it can heat up the water and could possibly cause burns. Not to mention, when water gets heated enough it turns into gas! So if your black pool gets hot enough to emit gas, you’ll have chlorine gas out and about in the air, which can poison and kill people! The more you know :D
