I agree with Dr. Johnson that people do value the wonder of God’s creation and that envisioning a world where we get it right is motivating. One thing Los Angeles is finally getting right is a wildlife bridge over the busy 101 freeway so cougars and other wildlife can cross to and from the Santa Monica Mountains! And Montana Native Americans successfully pushed for a wildlife crossing for a new Montana highway. That motivates me to find and to work to support other similar groups building wildlife corridors!

My mom passed last Christmas and I knew she wanted me to play my guitar and sing at her funeral. Apart from a couple if her favourite songs I chose this song to play at her grave side service. The third verse of this song was totally fitting. I did however alter the first verse to better suit my mom's circumstances. Thank you Vince for this beautiful and meaningful song...

Consider this a compliment because I have always considered both musician's musicians. With his glasses and beard Vince reminds me a lot of Jerry Garcia. I no longer have the dynamic vocal range I had before age COPD and lung cancer. I have always loved Vince's voice and his chops as a musician and if I beat this I would love to meet him if he's ever in Cincinnati or northern Kentucky.

I had the very good fortune of being at the Vince Gill & Friends Ryman show many years ago, and his Guitar Slinger record hadn’t yet come out but was about to. Vince said “I’m gonna play one off the new record.” Sat on a stool and played “Bread & Water” for what he said was the first time ever. I’ve seen countless shows at The Ryman, and have yet to experience that kind of silent respect for an artist. It was UNREAL!
