That technique comes with experience and knowing how to solder . That lil dab of solder in that spot conducts heat much faster than trying to heat wire and terminal together. Allowing you add just enough solder to do the job properly.

If I use a multimeter to test voltage across resistor in a circuit with supplied 12v and it reads , will the multimeter still reads the voltage across the resistor if I open the supply since the multimeter have a battery? Looking forward to your answer. Thanks
