Exactly bro. I spent 35 yrs. chasing surf around the world and at over 50 I decided to chase something else with everything I had including financially. Sketchy moments, doubt, and still by no means out of the impact zone but my last 16 hr. solo drive across Japan to be at the place I wanted to be, needed to be, and maybe was meant to be has changed everything for me. Fortunate favors the brave- GO and don’t look back!

Makes sense what you were saying about the take-off zone. Last couple years have been heavily skewed with El Nino and this time last year we had already had a couple of huge swells come thru startingin October that groomed everything, this year is much milder (La Nina i think?) so the waves are stiil a bit wonky. Don't be discouraged!

As much as youre rooting for yourself to get these waves, there's a community following rooting for you too! It is frustrating for sure, but it was great to see the mindset shift about how beautiful the session was at the end! Thanks for sharing the bad sessions as well as the good!

Ya I felt like there were a few sets a lot bigger and with a lot more waves than the rest. I wasn't out at mavericks, but at a pretty solid spot in Mendo and definitely felt that jump from small to big. At least you put your head down and tried, I got out and went for smaller waves 😂. I appreciate the honesty, makes me feel a little better about myself lol. It's the beginning of winter. There will be more.
