The release of Pastey was the final straw in my decision to completely separate myself from ProZ. It encourages the uncritical and possibly even unethical use of ChatGPT at the same time as writers are pointing out that it is built on massive copyright dodginess. It has been shown to not do well at term generation, hallucinate in summaries and not deliver in copyediting and proofreading. Using it for a draft translation could be a breach of confidentiality. I'm saddened and disappointed that ProZ have chosen AI hype over encouraging translators to upskill in ways that will increase their status, especially since I personally respect several of the people who work there. Today is a good day to realise that the bidding platform economy will never be good for freelancers. There are better days ahead. But not like this.

While this was a very interesting discussion, it was completely not what I expected from the title. I was expecting some tips on using the platform but it seems to be a teaser for the paid workshop and not "HOW to Use DeepL Translation". Perhaps change the title to "Why Use DeepL Translation" or "The Philosophy of Using DeepL Translation"? Then people can know what they are getting and decide if they want to watch or not; or if it will just take their valuable time for something they don't really need.

Problem is, many agencies use many CAT tools, and more often than not on their own platform. Before you know you've spent loads of money on all these different tools, but only using each of them occasionally.
