Crashing is a given. What’s tricky is knowing when to give up trying to stay on the board and committing to the bail… :)
Smashing the Windsurfing Speed Record, then crashing at 134 km/h ;)

A brief bit of planing during this evening’s low wind conditions - slo-mo makes it last longer ;)

Looks like I’m averaging around 30k with a top speed of 34kph

Just discovered the telemetry data on the GoPro - weirdly called ‘Stickers’ in the editing app.

Light Wind Jibe Practice: Non-Planing Carve Jibe
Awesome! Well done!
What is your goal for 2025?! Nice progression for 2024.
Nice! That’s a big hurdle. If you were comfortable when in the straps, note where your boom and mast base were. If not, fiddle with them next time until you can mostly relax in the straps. You might want to extend your harness lines a tiny bit as well so you can straighten your arms more. You are in the really fun space now!
😅🤣😂😉🤙
So cool!!!
Um more like 40 mph maybe.
Are these real speeds ? I must say i doubt it...

@@andrewwright826 Ah ok, i was wondering... :) Where is the spot ?
@@__-1234 Ottawa River.
I believe this is the best camera angle, for a non 360 camera. You had some nice full power runs! 🤙🤙🤙 TIP: To lighten your back foot a bit and start moving it to footstrap, hang on the boom. Couple of years ago, (more beginner than I'm now😊) I was trying to just lift my back foot and find the strap. Most of the times I was catapulted. When you hang from the boom, most of your weight goes on the center of the board, so you have some safe time to move your back foot, without risk.
nice movie🥰
Yeah, the camera angle does make it look a bit weird, but I will lengthen my lines and move the straps out next time 👍🏼
🔥Awesome! Doing great. In the back footstraps and enjoying the chop! Too bad winter is coming so quickly. Come down to Florida! Windy season is just off to a good start.
Thanks! Sometimes the chop turns into full-on 3-4 foot waves and airtime is possible. Getting into the back straps now much of the time, especially on my smaller 130L board - still need tons of practice, though. It’s almost a completely different sport when in the straps and planing consistently. Looking at max air temperatures of 8c (46F) this weekend, so it may be the last time for the season :( Would love to come to Florida again-we used to spend a week in Sarasota with my in-laws every year. Alas some health issues are keeping us rooted in the 2nd coldest national capital on the planet - after Ulan Bator and before Moscow! Best I can hope for is some snow-kiting, but setting up in -20c is challenging to say the least. Plus, while I’m a good skier, I’m not a great kiter. Heading out tomorrow in my 5mm wetsuit, booties, mitts, and neoprene ‘bonnet’… so stylish!! 😊
@@andrewwright826 Love that you have a Florida connection. I am in Englewood just a bit south of Sarasota. Stay warm! I should be posting more now that Windy Season has started. See ya on RUclips!
Looks you had a fun session!
Sir, put your foot streps in outer positions, you will get relief, truly...
Windsurfing like this is what it is all about. Never needed big waves never needed super expensive carbon foils. It will always be the best sport in the universe.
I really like this view 👍 What cam and where is it mounted?
GoPro mounted hanging down a bit from under the end of the boom
Very nice! Hard to be sure from the camera angle, but I feel you could drop your elbows and relax your shoulders a bit. What size lines do you have? They look a little short maybe.

Bloody awesome!
Awesome, similar situation to me!
And me.
Ah cant beat the feeling eh! I was our today here in Jersey c,i Blue skies although very gusty ,and a nice sunbath for a hour on the beach, BLISS!
Hi Andrew I hope this helps. To get fully in the footstraps locked in for speed/blasting bring the sail and yourself further back. As an example: when I'm 'fully locked in' the whole bottom of the sail is pretty much touching the whole back of the board. Until you can get 'closed in' as I call it, you won't get the full thrill of blasting. I'll see if I can show you an example video. Regards John Fellow windsurfer 57 years old nottingham UK.
Hi Andrew. Here's an example. It's on a formula board but the technique is the same. If your almost in the footstraps try bearing away for a bit more speed which will help, then once 'fully locked in' go can steer back up wind. Once you fully looked in you have so more more steering control of the board. Also I would put your front footstraps further out towards the rail. ruclips.net/user/shortsXXY_DqkB3YU?si=PBYg3cVXT9i3_fXN
Notice in the video where his feet are right over the edge of the rail of the board. You won't believe how much more control you get.
Good job getting the back foot in the back footstrap! Keep at it!
Thanks! Will do!
Nice👍💚💚💚💚💚
I have learned to know that my windsurfering buddies tend to have various backgrounds and talents. Your art studio is very impressive.
Great video. Hopefully planning a trip back soon!
That is a good feeling getting in the back footstraps! Looks like you are about ready to put both back footstraps on in the most inward position. It makes you go faster! Like you will notice.... Good Times!
Yup. :)
Is that a 145L Volar?
Love it!! Thank you very much man!
Great Camera angle.
Great video. That’s where I grew up.
This one is beautiful ❤️ (Watching the gannets made me think it would be cool to have a drone that could dive into the water like the gannets do and film the experience from air to water)
That is great! I just got the same board and am super happy with it. Good for you getting into both footstraps! That back one is like hitting the gas pedal. ruclips.net/video/XEMmP-jOSLM/видео.html
Thanks! I found your channel after searching ‘Goya Volar 160’ because I also had the bigger red and white board. It was defective and Goya replaced it with the 145. Jealous of your warm Tampa winters and your flat water conditions- your gybes are way better than mine!
@@andrewwright826 Wow! my 160 delaminated, but I had a buddy repair it. Funny! About to head out. It blowing like crazy today. Thanks for checking out my channel. I am going to a new spot today and will do some video.....hopefully LOL.Keep on progressing! You got it!
Well done Andrew! Fascinating.
