Does anyone know a good video on how to memorize a monologue. It’s a pre written one so I didn’t write it but it’s so hard to memorize these with adhd someone help pls
Great tip. Thanks Loren!
Yes I am glad I found you on RUclips. These are the right questions I should be asking myself every time I am giving a scene. Might help get more callback. Thanks
Just starred in a stage show and that’s exactly what I did👍
So don’t memorize “Now is the winter of our discontent.” You can always resort to falling back on improvisation and motivation.
Loved this tutorial! 🤩🥰 Thank you for sharing this!!
Thank you for this information its nice to see your clips it's very assuring and comforting. Huge hugs
What if I am funnier? :P Great tips and well explained. Thanks, Loren!
Love this, was hard to hear the sound through out the video. Maybe the mic can be closer? Either way love your content as an aspiring tv host🙋🏾♀️
GREAT advice. I just had a successful, highly successful run of a starring role in stage show and I did exactly what you’re talking about. All I could do is focus on the other person that I was speaking to. I forgot about me. I wasn’t even aware of myself and of course it was very successful for me and I’m grateful.
Acting is to do, not to be, I will remember that.
Come on pretending isn't that complicated
Oh, are you a millionaire actor?
thanks for tip!
I found a way to memorize my lines as an actor according to reading to the script, but some projects don't have script. I have to listen the prompted orally by the director and I'm not a good listener and they get mad when they i do retakes because I'm not a good listener, even though I'm listening my lines and sometimes my mind thinks that there are some grammatical mistakes
I understand. Check out my videos on Listening and just curious. If I could help you with that - would it be worth a zoom call?
So concise. Love this. Thank you for making these videos!
I can’t see you demonstrating because the script is taking up most of the screen. But thank you for some great tips.
Sorry about that
Very helpful - thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Exactly what I am doing next week on stage for a show I’m starring in. Many of my moments are reactions and way of listening and then responding. They’re definitely will be no dead. Space great advice thank you.
That was amazing! Thank you! 🙏🏾💖
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great point Loren!!!
Thank you.
I do stand-up comedy at open mic, but I tend to write out my material beforehand. I don't like improv. I like to write out my jokes beforehand because it helps my thought process.
That makes sense - it's a plan. The comedy tools are all about the delivery to get the laughs.
Great advice!
Glad you think so!
YES!!!!!!!!!!
Very profound and wise in acting as in all aspect of real life the other person is always the most important. We should always be actively being in the other person's world.
the video quality and captioning looks awesome! keep it up!!!
Hi
Challenging when your reader is not there for to look in their eyes. very easy for me if I’m working opposite an actor, whether there be a class or a film or television show or on my stage work but remotely when you just hear the voice I have a technique that I use, but I it takes a lot more work than looking at a person a lot more imagination
I need to ban these useless shorts made by useless stupid people.
Yes…to need is WAY more active 👍
I need an ice cream cone right NOW!!🍦
I WANT you to know the stigma around fedora's.
Hey Hey - watch it!! There is no stigma around fedoras! And I don't believe you because you said you want ...... no you NEED to me to do or say something? Do you NEED me to take off my hat? - That's a better intention.
Like it Loren! Dawn
So good! Thank you 🙏🏼
For me I don’t need to do that. It happens for me instinctively and organically and it motivates me so I don’t even need to think about all those other things. my work with a couple of coaches who work instinctively in organically have also helped me with this and it just really really works for me and I’m in a project now where I’m in rehearsal and every rehearsal it just happens. I’m there. I don’t have to think about all that stuff.
Couldnt hear shit about this tape cause your old fuckin mouth is yappin the whole time.
I personally don’t use that. My instincts kick in automatically and takes me there organically. Then it is real for me. I’m starring in a very challenging role in a play coming up and that is what works for me. But I love all of your suggestions because you are wonderful.
Excellent one!✌️
I'm taping today so this was super timely. Thanks, will definitely use this. ❤😊
You got this!
Will there parents agree. Religion belief if how they going to get married. Etc
Love your videos Loren! I found your channel after attending your free class last night on script analysis!🎉
Glad you like them!
I always love finding the moment before. It’s fun for me. I get to use an extra snippet of my imagination. I also love the very last dialogue if I have it my little moment afterwards just subtle or whatever or if the other person has the dialogue my reaction to it and I watch Hallmark films and I noticed that all of the actors do that and some of the films are so well acted and so well directed and this isHallmark. 👍
Hi!! I am auditioning for a Life Guard principal role. It involve saving someone drowning, and speaking lines while in the water.... How the heck should I do this?? I am usually very creative with my self tapes but i am so stumped on this one, especially when I need to lean down on one knee, jump and dive into the water, swim back with the victim and give lines while giving cpr. HOW can i do this on a self tape? Should I stay standing and just do it the best I can?
That is insane Joe! What an ask from production! I always focus on creating the experience of the scene. What is the experience of saving someone drowning and dealing with water. I'd focus more on the experience than the very specifics. And quite honestly this sounds like you might benefit from a coaching - in which a coach could work with you and the script. I'm happy to help. Contact me through my website: www.IntentionalActing.com
Thank you, Loren.
Welcome! Thanks for watching- Please share
Great advice Loren!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching - please share.
Boy I like these explanations - stuff finally making sense.
Good!
Sometimes, the script doesn't give you enough information to correctly answer that, "Why". And another thing, sometimes the director, producer and whomever is viewing wants to see something DIFFERENT than what everyone else is performing. May not be the right WHY, but the actor made it their own. And as long as the performer knows where they are at, and their reason they're saying the lines can help as well.
Actually this Why is for you - not the producers. This question is for you to say "why would that happen?' and for you to write down all the questions you have about the script - so that you turn on your Reticular Activing System in your brain to find the answers to these questions. Often these questions are the ones that everyone else can't answer either and they skip it. I've seen that that one question that you think - why is this character doing this? which is complicated - is what makes the scene most interesting and is also the key to the scene. So when you stop and answer that question - it is setting you apart. You are doing something different because most actors say - "I don't know" and neglect to find this moment, beat, meaning in the scene.
Thank you very much for breaking that down for me! Very helpful. 🙏🏾
SO INCREDIBLY HELPFUL👏🏼💗 TY sooo much! You’re the best
So glad!
ive been working on memorizing 250 lines for a play im in and its been super difficult because of my adhd but this helped, thank you<3
YIPPEE!!!
That’s so sweet 😭
I memorized upto 30 lines. I memorize sentences with each full stop and proceed further
LOVE what you are saying. I have studied with a brilliant coach here in Los Angeles and I really really was hit hard with that and that’s the other person other person. What can I do to change them? It’s about them not about me and I love what you said thank you for saying that.
