I feel that above all of these reasons TotK lost the serenity that BotW had. You first point sort of covers this, but everything in TotK felt like go time all the time and BotW having more land based exploration gave you these peaceful gaps between events that allowed you to enjoy the setting. Idk I beat BotW like 20 times 100% completion with all Koroks and everything 4 times (both difficulties on 2 switches) and a ton of challenge runs for speed or just odd fun challenges and it never got old and I found new stuff every time. After 100% of TotK I just didn’t have any motivation to play it again, the thought sounded daunting and more like a chore.
try doing a playthrough playing as link. its possible using glitches to play as link forever
I really do keep on underestimating how much horizontal distance you can get off of Zelda's jump. Really thought we'd need the bed at some point in the game, but sadly I guess not. I will say, the Spark and Ghirro are great alternatives to the Buzz Blob and Wind Cannon respectively. I am very curious how you managed to get up Hebra mountain without some sort of vertical climbing echo because I can't seem to figure it out
Could you use the bomb fish echo to light fires? Could that replace the Ignzol?
I don’t think so, but I don’t own the game, so someone else will have to fact check. However, I saw in someone else’s video that there is a required combat room in the first rift with no throwable objects nearby or other noteworthy support nearby. If he didn’t get the ignizol, he would’ve had to get some other echo before then to fight off the encounter.
I give an idea do tje samw with the rest of the franchise
neato. thanks for the video!
Ahh! Dropping a table to break a crate at the beginning! Smart. I learned boulder to get through there and ended up with 11 echoes.
That is definitely the thing that surprised me the most out of this run. Mostly because I’ve never seen anyone else do it
I did this challenge myself a week or two ago. I also got 10 echoes, but I made a few decisions and discoveries that would have made things a lot easier for you. Instead of getting the fairly useless Wind Cannon echo, I went to Eldin Volcano to get the Ghirro echo instead. This gave me a flying enemy to glide with, making many sections much easier. Because I already had a flying enemy, I learned the Ice Wizzrobe echo, giving me much needed power into the endgame. With the Frog Ring, it is possible to jump on top of a statue echo by entering Swordfighter Form. This made that precarious staircase in Lanayru a lot easier. Rather than Buzz Blob, an echo entirely useless for mobility, I got the Spark echo, which let me easily get through any 2D section, trivializing the ones in Null’s Body.
incredible work!
simultaneous switch rooms can be done by putting table echoes on both switches then putting stuff from the room on the tables, then dismissing both echoes by holding the trigger. The one in Lanayru forces the strat you used since nothing is in the room.
also you can look down in 2d areas to drop tables beneath you while jumping. edit: whoops, you did do this later on
My strat was similar, I just activated one of the two switches myself while dropping an echo on the other. I did eventually learn I could spawn tables underneath me. I think I figured it out in Eldin Temple.
5:51 The link between you and the enemy has a maximum length, so it moves you as close as it can on all axis till it physically cant have either entity move with the link remaining intact (moving objects do not have this quirk because they move on set paths, nothing you do besides obstructing the path will affect their movement, so the link simply breaks when it gets too far) Or at least thats my theory on it
That sounds about right. I thought that above all else, the game would keep your position relative to the object unchanged, but clearly that's not the case!
Few echos run is worthy doing just for having clean menu
Haha I agree with that
@@EduSolsa screw cleaniless Embrace unorganized bedroom mode
Are you aware that Zelda jumps twice as high when in sword fighter form? Could be useful, and I didn't see you use it.
Easily overlooked. There were a couple scenarios where he could've used it and made his life much easier. But there weren't extra echoes learned for it so all good
Yeah, I didn't even realize that! Thanks for the tip.
According to someone on the speedrun forums without wrong warping the minimum limit is 9 echos as Table Ignizol Mole Elephant Statue Hawk Statue Bombfish Ice Keese Electric Wizrobe Floating Orb That list specifically especially the enemies because it's honestly the fastest. Of course that list is theoretical as you might need the windblower or tornado enemy but even so those 9 with the windblower is all you need if you can't skip it and want this to pretty much be glitchless. You are playing Any% if you want to use wrong warp with doing this as you only need 4 echos in any% Table, Rock, Sign, Bed as you are wrong warping directly inside of Null's body and pretty much letting Link kill all the enemies though you could throw a rock at stuff if ya wanted
None of those cane blow the sand for the 2D room. It'd still be 10 like in the video unfortunately.
TABLE! Grab a brush and put on a little TABLE
Why'd you leave the keys upon the TABLE
Here you go, create another TABLE
Very nice
I found your video trying to see if I could squeeze past the sand at 3:30. My solution to reaching the orb at 2:45 was carrying the sand pirahna from down up to the platform where you stacked the tables, dropping it back down while still binded to it, and since i did zora first i could long range summon tables to lure it to the other side of the pillar and then let myself drop down on top of the pillar
Clever! Always interesting to hear of alternate solutions.
Thank you for resisting the urge to name the video the clickbait title other channels use "beating echoes of wisdom without any echoes" and straight up they admit its not possible and switch the video to how few echoes you need.
RUclipsr moment 😂
Haha. That did cross my mind. But yeah, way too misleading.
This is really well done, I'm shocked your channel is so small! Definitely earned my sub
Thanks!
Actually, might it be possible to enter elden temple dungeon early using wrong warp?
Wrong warp is a glitch
This is with intended playthrough
Perhaps, but yeah, I was doing glitchless.
2:25 one time use? Some might crystals you need the mole plus some heart pieces, one heart piece you need the mole specifically otherwise you can't get it
For low% (glitchless) it is basically 1 time use.
@@sinteleon he said in video it was a any% echoes run and that he would be picking up heart pieces
@@sinteleon1:02 there
i think he meant that the holmill is only required to use in one place for one purpose. everything else he had to learn was used for multiple required purposes and/or in multiple required places.
@@joeyst.laurent1987 Yeah, he said he'd be collecting heart pieces, not _all_ the heart pieces.
In cases like this 3:45 i think you couldve used the swordfighter mode jump to make your life easier but i dont think this wouldve saved any echos
Ahhh... I didn't even realize you jump higher in swordfighter form. Good to know!
5:56 It’s because it’s moving away from you. Tried it with a box in one of the box puzzles in the Zora area
This video deserves more views.. As such I'm feeding the algorithm with this comment
sand piles can also be blown away with tornandos, which are more useful than wind cannons
I don’t think the fire puzzle leading up to Faron temple would be possible tho
@@deropige1317 Yeah, that requires either a quick turnaround with the cannon, or a rainy frog.
@@deropige1317there's a reason creating frog near which you could get there with bind
Did you need the bombfish to get links bombs? Or what can links bombs not do that bombfish can? I forget if it works underwater. Also, Zirro can bomb + fly, but probably not underwater either.
Yeah, you can't reach the Zora dungeon without a bomb echo. And you need to beat that dungeon to reach the second half of the game and Eldin temple where you get Link's bombs.
@@SwitchSummit Yeah that tracks. The only other fiddly bit I can see is the ice keese flying and the wind machine replaced by a ghirro, but I don't know what would handle freezing then.
@@3X3NTR1KRight, would still need something for ice. There was actually no flying necessary in this playthrough. I chose ice keese for ice just in case I needed to fly. But I didn't.
driptune is native to faron, but i cant remember if there is a shadow one outside the faron dungeon. If so, that is an answer to the wind canon choice you went with- by dragging a shadow driptune to the area- but it doesnt eliminate other wind checks. that does mean you can choose to use tornado instead, though, and it might provide more vertical options than wind cannon alone. wind checks is probably the most realistic thing to cut down on, but with the tools up to that point (desert), i am not sure many other options exist. I might also need to play around with automotons more to see if they can technically shave any efforts since they are not technically echoes...
Ah good call, didn't think about driptune. If there was a way past the sand piles in the Gerudo region, wind cannon may very well be skippable. Automatons wouldn't help because you'd have to learn other echoes first to get the automatons.
@@SwitchSummit yeah, for as powerful as automatons can be, they often feel like an afterthought, something i completely forget about. Only mentioned it as a possibility, but yeah, i forgot about needing a monster to base it off of first. XD
If you were able to craft the automatons in any order, I’m sure there would be one or two that you could craft. It’s a shame that it forces you to craft with unnecessary echoes first
It's fun but not $60 fun.
as a fan of the OG zelda style I was so excited for the return to actual zelda games (sorry not sorry I hate BotW and TotK) The more I dig into this game the more disappointed I am. I'm gonna pass on this one. also you mentioned that this game is more vertical than Links awakening. Thats because this game was designed for the switch but LA was designed for the OG monochrome game boy. BIG difference.
I thought this would be using the fewest echoes possible, like minimum captures in Super Mario Odyssey, but this is a great challenge nonetheless!
Oh interesting - like spawning the fewest echoes possible through the game? I guess it is kinda ambiguous. That would be a neat challenge too! I updated the video's title to be less ambiguous.
It's crazy how important the supposedly useless statues from the Gerudo dungeon turned out to be!
Totally! I was curious how many sections could have been completed table-only, but I'm pretty sure there are a few where you'll need the statues.
You should have taken the cloud at some point, when you can make two you can just fly above everything
@@Donja-mz6hp Cloud is nice in a Casual Playthrough, but in this Low Echoes run, it's just not required, and therefore would make the run worse.
Hey there! For Escue, you can simply slide under him when he rushes you, works everytime. Also, this is a very good quality video, i'm impressed!
Thanks - I suppose that would switch Escue to your other side. I definitely got more comfortable with Escue on the left hand side of the screen, and I tried to keep him there for the whole battle. Hah.
I ponder if you really would of been able to use the ice keese in the fire temple, im sure its ice powers would of melted and of been too weak to actually fly.
I didn't try to be honest, but I figured it would work. For someone who really wants a keese, it might be possible to get a fire keese instead of ignizol or an electric keese instead of buzz blob. Haven't scouted that out though.
@@SwitchSummit Electric Keese instead of Buzzblob is possible but Fire Keese is not. The earliest Fire Keese are in Lizalfos Burrow or Lanayru Temple, neither of which are accessible at the point you need fire. Fire options are ignizol, brazier, torch slug or fire octo, but fire octo doesn't launch fire unless enemies are nearby. You can also use Wizzrobes as your options for ice or electricity. Tornando instead of Wind Cannon is possible, and Tornando can launch tables for height.
@@MANIFESTATIONofDORK That all makes sense - thanks for the summary!
@@SwitchSummit Even if you could get one, a Fire Keese wouldn't be useful for flight in those rooms, as the updrafts are wind and thus put it out, which causes it to stop flying and thus not work as a glider.
New upload!🎉
This is crazy! I saw another youruber do this challenge but they ended up using 12 echoes
And any% speedrunners only get 7 but they wrong warp to the end without any dungeons lol
…i dont touch rpg…animated nerdy cardgames…turn-based slowmo action…but then…surprisingly…i dont touch fps shoot in face school-shooting boot-camp either…and as i understand…this a game never get its thumb out its ass…
Phenomenal video! I actually also tried this once, but I gave up on twin robo soldiers. Please more videos like this! And on a side note, I despise Raven Beaks 2nd Phase. I takes so incredibly long, I almost lost my mind at hard and dread 0%. (although it luckily gets really consistent)
Thanks. Yeah the twin soldiers are maddeningly inconsistent! I find there is a time altering effect here because you're focusing so hard. Raven Beak actually takes 5 minutes but it feels more like 30 minutes to me when I'm playing. I'll continue to post interesting challenges across various games, so make sure you're subscribed with the bell turned on so you don't miss them. 🙂
This review is a water block out of 10
I am about 3/4 through and share some of the same criticisms. It is a good game. It would be better at about $15 less IMO. The towns are non-existent, literally 1 or 2 actual homes and the shops are underwhelming. I did get the Lynel echo and he is a beast, he killed the final link imposter in about 3 hits while I just watched. I just don't see this having the replayabliity of TOTK or BOTW. Also where is an item to let me swim up waterfalls? That needed to be in here...
Thank you, finally a genuine honest review. I was wondering why every single review shows tons of beds stacked. Good luck with your channel.
Thanks! Hope it was helpful.
I appreciate the criticisms. I suspected it would have a lot of the problems you mentioned but still be fun in spite of them. I'll probably get it eventually.
Definitely still a fun game, but yeah, plenty to nitpick at.
Just a comment for the algorithm!
The game has been out for less than 48 hours how are you so fast😂
Game has been out for 15 hours... For me at least 🙂
It's a little late for this tip, but I found out that when the elite chozo soldier does it's black sludge attack you can flash shift right before he fires it. It's way easier to dodge and will give you a few second to attack while he's locked into the attack!
I'll give it a try if I play this again - for some reason, when I picture it, it feels like I would die 😂
I've done many dread runs before, but deathless? I can't wait to see how this video goes!
I’ve seen quality like this on channels with millions of subs. Keep going, you’ll get there!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Bravo, this was a 1st crack of this challenge. There a few thing that would help, like melee early enimies, shine sparking bosses, and a few other things. But none the less it takes skill to pull off this challenge. I did this same challenge plus all bosses with 263 deaths. It's been a few years so, this video makes me want to see if I can lower that number.
Good luck if you revisit this challenge!
Your refusal to use melee, make this challenge a lot harder than it needed to be.
Wow i just saw the views on this video and it shocked me considering how good the quality is, watched this whole video and it was amazing! You definetly deserve more popularity Definetly subbing
Thank you, much appreciated!
