It's interesting that you still visit these castles that are not there at all anymore. Imagine if these castles had not been destroyed, how much more tourist money can be made now since everywhere in Japan charges money.

居館は麓にありますが、この山城は現存する状態を見ても、往時の越前朝倉氏が攻めたとしても攻めあぐねただろう事が伺えます。 残念ながら若狭武田家当主は越前朝倉氏城下へと元に移され、実質的に朝倉氏の支配を受けるに至りますが その支配に抵抗した若狭国吉城はこれより規模も小さいが、良く持ちこたえ織田信長の支援を受けるに至り、とうとう織田勢と共に越前朝倉氏を滅ぼしました。 江戸時代になり、近世城郭の小浜城が建築され、後瀬山城は廃城となり、居館跡も寺院となりますが、領主はこの山城の麓に菩提寺を建立するなど大事にされています。 私の家族の初詣は山麓の八幡社です。

According with description of european visitors in XVI century, Hinoe castle was impressive and richly decorated. It was impressionant for Europeans. Near of Hinoe castle it is the Shinge forest, in which happened the Miracle of the Cross of Shinge. Thank you very much for this video. Best regards.😉

この城、江戸時代の石灰採掘で本郭付近や北部分郭が壊され、おまけに最近作業道開削で折角残ってた北西下部分の堀切壊され、石灰搬出での竪堀状の溝があり、がっかりしています。
