Sharky's Renovation Update September 2024 ~ Venice, Florida
Sharky's at the Venice Fishing Pier is the most popular tourist attraction here in Venice, Florida. Many of my clients and followers enjoy coming here to watch the sunset, eat, and enjoy this incredible view of the Gulf of Mexico. I have taken many photos of this restaurant, and sell a lot of prints of this location.
Right now it is under renovation, and many of my clients are eager to know how far it is progressing. Completion will most likely be November 2024. It is still open during construction.

Sell Your Art On Fine Art America - TAKE 2
Lisa, thank you so much for your updates and the renovations being done in Venice. I Snowbird to Florida for the winter from Pennsylvania and was quite concerned because the gulf coast is my favorite area, I know people in Venice that I would like to visit.
You're very welcome! Venice was hit hard along the beach areas, but downtown is okay. Overall the Gulf Coast was hit hard, it's sad to see all the damage but many people are working very hard to repair and recover. Sharky's is open and the pier just partially reopened the other day! :-)
Wow, looking good.
Yes! So excited to see the progress! Look forward to seeing it when it's finished! :-)
PRAYERS FOR ALL AMEN
Thank you!
Can't wait for Sharky's to open the new portion.
I look forward to seeing it completed, too! :-)
I listened to your video. I am having problems opening an account with fineartamerica. The system is not accepting my phone number. Which format should I use to fill in my phone number?
This sometimes happens with international numbers. You can contact customer service on Fine Art America and they can help you open an account.
@@lieslwalshphotography Thank you very much 😊
@@emmakelly1215 you're welcome! Happy to help! :-)
Thank you so much for posting! I'm a new FAA subscriber and want to learn as much as possible! 🎉 👏
You're welcome! I will be making more videos about FAA so stay tuned! :-) You will love FAA, it is a wonderful platform to sell your art!
Thank you for posting! 🎉
You're welcome! My pleasure! :-)
So, I want to know how people are getting their stuff out. Are they posting on socials? I don't see a lot from them on my X account.
Yes a lot of Fine Art America artists who are selling well are posting on social media. I see them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I get 80% of my sales from Facebook posts (that's where my audience hangs out). I know another artist who does well on Instagram, and another one who is doing well on Twitter. Find out where your audience spends the most time and go there.
@@lieslwalshphotography oh ok. Thanks for that. I've been doing that and getting some attention. Thanks!
@@motcornerbyalisonhasselquist you're welcome, that's great!
I'm interested!!!
Thank you! Enjoy the class, you will love using Fine Art America! :-)
Is it really worth it considering they cut so steeply into your profits?
Hi Tanya, you can choose the amount of profit you want to make on each size print, so you can make what you want. There are no fees when fulfilling an order so nothing is taken out of your profit. That is one of the things I love about FAA! :-)
My Fine Art America course is ready! You can see it here: www.lieslwalshphotos.com/selling-photos-online-how-i-broke-the-code
Felipe @photosergeacademy told me about you, Just bought your course 🤞🏻it helps me sell more prints.
Thank you!! It's been a pleasure to be working with you! So happy about your sales!! :-)
My wife has had a shop on FAA for over a year (maybe 2) and has only sold 4 items because it was to her family. FAA has too much competition (too many artist). The shipping is also ridiculously expensive, we live in Denver Colorado.
Hi Jeffrey, yes there is a lot of competition on FAA. When I started in 2015 there were around 500,000 other artists on FAA, now there are over a million. I had a slow start on FAA and my first sale was to my best friend. It took me a little time to start selling to strangers. But what made a huge difference was to drive traffic to my FAA site from social media. I get 80% of my sales from that, and regularly sell now. When you get sales your images move higher in the search, and it becomes easier to get sales from the search. I am teaching artists how to boost their sales on FAA, and they are selling much faster than I did when I started, getting 7-30 sales in a month after taking my course. Your wife is welcome to join us. I would be happy to help! You can learn about the course here: www.lieslwalshphotos.com/selling-photos-online-how-i-broke-the-code Yes, the shipping charges for some items can be high. Shipping cost can vary depending on the region, shipping carrier and type of shipping. Prints that are over 40 inches tend to have a higher shipping cost because of the size and weight, and extra packaging is needed to protect the art. FAA made a statement that the shipping companies set the shipping price (not FAA). FAA has a fulfillment center in Denver, Colorado, so they are very close to you.
My wife has a shop on Fine Art America and nothing is selling because the shipping is SO ridiculously Expensive! We live in Denver Colorado. Shipping literally cost the same as the cost of the item. Denver doesn’t have any good print shop choices that would make the shipping more affordable.
Hi Jeffrey, yes the shipping can be high at times. I learned that the shipping company sets the cost of shipping (not FAA). Shipping costs can vary depending on the region, shipping carrier, and type of shipping. Prints over 40 inches tend to have higher shipping because of their size, weight, and extra packaging to protect the art. FAA has a fulfillment center in Denver, so they are very close to you. Your wife can sell her art to other regions of the world, too, so hopefully she can connect with more people to get more sales. I tried to find a local printer for local clients who wanted to save on shipping costs, but the local printer quality was a little less, and their prints more expensive without shipping than FAA prints with shipping. I have yet to find another company with prints as high quality as FAA.
I hear very different results from other sellers on Fineart America. Sadly. What is the link to your course?
Yes I hear about other sellers on Fine Art America struggling to get sales, that is why I made my course. My students are selling faster than I did when I started. One student sold 30 times in a month after taking the course. I am so happy! You can see my course here: www.lieslwalshphotos.com/selling-photos-online-how-i-broke-the-code

Wow, you went through hurricane Ian?
Yes, we were close to the eye of the storm. Our town had a lot of damage, and we had to move.
Great little video Liesl. I'm gonna print your tips to remind me how to process my work.
Thank you! I hope the tips help! :-) Wishing you the best with your work!
Hi Liesl, RE: DON'T OVER SATURATE! You hit the nail on the head!! For some reason most people posting on this platform submit images that are way over saturated. IMHO, they look terrible! Just my 10 cents.
Oversaturation was a lesson I had to learn myself, natural colors are better. I do like creating saturated images, but I now keep the colors closer to nature.
You should start a class.
Great video, Liesl. Words to live by and shoot by!
Thank you, Steve!
Lot of good information. Thanks Liesl!
You're welcome! :-)
Beautiful Liesl, and I am impressed with your persistence, but it was so worth it in the end.
Thank you so much! Yes it was quite an effort to get this image, I love how it turned out! It's one of my favorite images from Rome so far.
Beautifully done❤
Thank you very much! :-)
Persistence paid off!
Yes it did, and I'm so glad I went back that last early morning! Worth it to get up early! I love that photo. :-)
Good tip, Liesl, I've had a significant percentage of my sales from that program, including a couple of 40x60 metal prints.
Thanks! That's great you have gotten sales from that program, too! Those are big prints! Happy for you!
Do you see it as a profitable business model for yourself?
Yes please!

Looking forward to it as I have had ZERO success with FAA

How are you paid on FAA?
I am paid via PayPal. :-)
Never thought about that, thanks! Keep them coming.

I am creating a course about how to build your website and boost your sales on Fine Art America. Please subscribe to hear more news about when it's released. Let me know in the comments about what you would like to learn about Fine Art America, and I can add that to my course!
Hi Liesl, So looking forward to that course as I have possible customers in the US and the UK.
Hi Rick, thank you so much! :-) That's great, yes FAA will help you sell to both the US and UK so it will work well for you! I will announce here on RUclips when the course is ready. :-)
Just clarifying... Does that mean if you dont live in America you are limited in the products you can offer, or does it just mean shipping would be more if it has to be from America. I live in Australia and there isn't a lot of products offered for the Australian distribution centre. If someone in Australia, for example, ordered a tote bag would it not be available or would it still get shipped from America?
Hi Joanna, those are great questions! If you are an artist on FAA and don't live in America, there is good news! You can still offer all products on your website, because you can sell them to people in the US or other countries where those products are available. If someone from Australia ordered a tote bag, the Australian fulfillment center would not have it available. But on the FAA website it says this: Each manufacturing center can ship products to any destination in the world. So maybe there is a chance you could get a tote bag delivered to Australia from a center outside of Australia. That would increase shipping costs. You can do a test and find out - go to any artist on FAA and place a test order (without fully checking out) for a tote bag and see if it can be shipped to you.
Let me know in the comments if there is something you want to learn about Fine Art America and I can add that to my future course! :-)
Sounds good.
Thank you! :-)

I subscribed so I can see more of what your doing, I like the bit about the early mornings and late nights, I experienced this in Italy last week on Serge's workshop, up early every morning even when we didn't have any early morning schedules but Riccardo wanted to go out early EVERY day so I joined him, it was well worth it. Usually at home I'm a sunset shooter so I don't need to get up in the middle of the night, but now I have ideas of double shoots, same location one in the morning and one in the evening, oh boy that's my life gone 😂
Hi Rick, thank you for watching! Yes early mornings are amazing for photography, especially for cityscape when the city lights are on and the streets are quiet. You feel like you have the city all to yourself at times, magical light for photos and so much easier with less people and traffic. Best time to get the perfect photo. Yes that is the life of a photographer, to go early and late in the day, but it is so worth it! :-) See you in the next video! ~ Liesl
Excellent Liesl!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for watching! :-)
Loved the end!
Thank you! :-) I love how it turned out!
