Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation

The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation seeks to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal to end poverty in all its forms everywhere (SDG1) by making high-volume treatment interventions to cure 500,000 patients of cataract blindness in the developing world by 2030. The foundation orchestrates large-scale grassroots activities and microsurgical camps to cure blindness in countries including Nepal, Indonesia, Bhutan, Laos, Ghana, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation was founded in March 2021 by philanthropist Tej Kohli and pre-eminent ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Dr Sanduk Ruit. The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation is a restricted fund operating under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund, registered UK charity number 1099682.

The Impact of Screening Camps in Developing Countries | The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation's Mission
Throughout the developing world, millions continue to suffer from needless blindness - mostly due to cataracts. Patients are either too poor to afford surgery, are unable to reach a hospital, or are unaware of treatment. An active outreach program is absolutely important to cure such communities. The Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation works with ten hospitals across Nepal, Bhutan and Ghana to achieve its target of screening one million people.
