What if Star Wars' Music Was Composed Like Dune's?
Просмотров 1 тыс.6 месяцев назад
After seeing Dune Part 2 recently, I was inspired by the soundtrack to create something similar and score a scene from Star Wars with it. The music from Dune is very unique to the film so it was a bit of a challenge making it work in the context of Star Wars. Although it can be a little goofy at times I think the final product still came out well. Let me know what you think, and what else you'd...

    And this wasn’t even close to his greatest solo. He did a lot of mad styling but there are better examples of his skills in terms of technical difficulty. However the way he always has the perfect tone is incomparable. Never hits a bad note. Sense of melodic phrasing near peerless. Level of difficulty playing at his level while dancing, singing and leading a band is otherworldly. The emotive way in which he not only plays and connects to the music but also how he plugs into the audience and carries them through the emotional ride. Flair and stage presence matched only by Hendrix. His speed and genre dexterity is impressive. And again like Hendrix he uses wah wah and feedback/distortion to great effect. Lastly he was a tremendous rhythm player and effortlessly switched between lead and rhythm.

    Great stuff man! Just wonder why you're assuming that the composer went from the simple 5 note melodies into the larger songs, and not the other way around. It makes sense to go from simple to complex, sure... but not always, right?

    • @DrewRichmond
      @DrewRichmond 29 дней назад

      The main assumption is that they had to fit these songs on the playable ocarina. So I assumed they started there with only 5 notes available. Could have been the other way around but they would have had to get lucky

    This is the greatest title theme of all time and it will never again be reached. Starting the game and being greeted by this peaceful song invites you to take a deep breath and leave all your troubles behind and really dive into the wonderful world of Hyrule. It gently brings you into the right mindset that you can fully enjoy all that is to come. It is really incredible.

    I think Prince had a point to prove. Before this performance Rolling Stone Magazine had just published their list of The Top 100 Guitar Players and Prince didn't make the list somehow. 🤔 After this performance Prince was asked about being left off Rolling Stone's List and he's quoted as saying, "Oh that. Well now they know." Some time after this performance Rolling Stone republished their list of The Top 100 Guitar Players and Prince was listed 14th.

    You're clearly a talented gutarist and I hope you gain the following you deserve. My only suggestion is that when filming, make sure the entire guitar is in frame as you play. It adds to the experience and allows students to slow it down and catch everything your hands are doing. Best wishes from a big Prince fan.

    What's interesting is that Zelda's Lullaby wasn't even composed for Ocarina of Time. It first appears in A Link to the Past. It makes me wonder what the order was. Were the five ocarina notes partially chosen so that Zelda's Lullaby could be played, or did Koji Kondo pick the five ocarina notes and say, "Hey, I already wrote something that works with this!?"

    Not that I don't love the newer games, but it's not just nostalgia that keeps these older games on top - there are core memories from our younger days that cannot be replicated. And it's not just games, it was EVERYTHING. How life was very different back then. It was often less convenient and while I wouldn't want to give up today's convenience, I would love to revisit my childhood to experience some of those days. Also, I had never noticed the callback to the warp flute from Zelda 1 @ 2:47 but I felt like I heard that from somewhere before. Classic Nintendo sneaking in old sounds in their newer titles!
