Joseph Carey Merrick joked to Sir Frederick Treves that his body will "be displayed in a huge jar of alcohol." How does this guy know how Merrick would feel? I have empathy for this guy with this condition, but realistically - after you're dead, you're just a corpse. Your body might be the key to discovering treatment for people suffering from the same thing. I'd be happy to donate my dead body if I knew it would help.

Small world I lived a block away.. We just moved a few months prior To 911 from North New Jersey I have lots of family in New York some directly affected by 9/11 my cousin was in tower7 . I actually met this guy he was a very nice person always polite I sometimes stop by and buy a few things to help support there business... I also lost a child my wife Miscarried 30 minutes after the towers fell From the stress of that day... But yeah this guy is was very nice .. rip sir I was in my 20s, now I'm Approaching 50 , pretty much alone in life now That miscarriage was the only child I would ever have I lost my wife a few years after that and then I just never got back into dating, I mean it could still happen, but I don't have the will Or drive to even start looking... But yeah I'm here to just tell my story and letting you know that I got to know him alittle bit. The few encounters we had were very pleasant.. I always felt I need to look at 9:11 videos every year since it happened sometimes I leave comments sometimes I don't lots of hidden stories everybody suffered from that event in someway or another.. But yeah right now I'm currently living without a place to live for a few years now, I still stop by and buy a few things .. We sold That property a block away a few years ago a little before the pandemic.. I'm actually only a few blocks from there right now at a local McDonald's ,, It never gets easier as the years go by all we can do is honor the dead by watching videos I seem to do this every September/October I go through All the 9/11 videos I could find this is actually the first time I'm finding this one otherwise I would've left a comment already... This whole video is chock full of misinformation. (Side note, In the past we had a simpler term for "misinformation". We called it a lie.) Joseph Merrick wasn't only in the show. Joseph Merrick created his own freak show. He found it not only to be very successful but empowering as well. At that time he lived very well. Was very successful and was rubbing shoulders with the highest of high society. It was when his freak show was deemed "tasteless" by those who decided it goes against THEIR morals that it was shut down. THIS is what sent Joseph down hill. Look into his life. I mean Joseph's life. Not this mental gymnastics master. AKA lier. Joseph Merrick was inspiring. Edit: btw, it was Joseph Merrick who WANTED his body to be examined and used for education. He knew his body would be on display. This is what Joseph wanted.
