We are Phil & Kristin McKenzie, full-time retirees and half-time globe trotters. We have a home base in the U.S. with a goal to travel the world six months or more each year. We have visited over 40 countries as independent travelers, meaning we plan and travel on our own versus through group tours or cruises. We started this RUclips Channel to share our experiences with other over-50 travelers who are taking advantage of the youth of their senior years to explore new places. We have been going to that area for 20 years and still have WOW moments. Someday we will meet up. Thanks for posting the video.
Glorious to see and hear the sights and sounds live from the Alps. Thanks for a fun tour👏🏻💖❣️
Can you tell me what month you were there and how much time did you spend in the area? Thank you
We were in Switzerland the last week of July for about eight days - two days in Bern, four days in the Oberland region/Bernese Highlands where this video was filmed, and two days in Zermatt. Hope this helps!
@@WanderlustWithTheMcKenzies It helps a lot. So do your videos. Thanks again

Hard to believe everything started there 40 years ago for me. I'm far away from my hometown now but I always keep a piece of it inside me. Hope you enjoyed your stay! If you get there again you may wanna explore all the way to Castellar and Gorbio, the view is sensational.
Favorite restaurants in Ronda? Thank you!
You're having too much fun.
Loved this! ♥️😭

This was so much fun. Thank you.
Hello... I think you should *really* consider the Carretera Austral in Chilean Patagonia. You will finds lakes, glaciers, forests, volcanoes and fjords in every step of the way. Just look up for "Carretera Austral" here in RUclips and enjoy!
Fantastic! We actually started planning a trip to Patagonia last fall, but postponed it. Carretera Austral looks amazing. On our list! Thank you for the suggestion!
You two are too cute - question - how are all these places if someone has mobility issues? Are some possible? Some impossible? They all look AMAZING.
Some are more accessible than others. Those that I would rate the highest from memory (I haven't researched to verify) would be the Kangaroo Sanctuary, Seljalandsfoss in Iceland, Lake Bled, Hallstatt and Krakow. The waterfall in Iceland had a paved path on relatively flat land leading up to the waterfall. Bled has a paved path that circles the lake. The old towns of Hallstatt and Krakow are relatively flat, although there are always cobblestones to navigate in old cities. Sites that might be doable but more challenging would be Mostar due to the cobblestones and steepness of the bridge, parts of Pletvice, which has some boardwalks and groomed trails, and Meteora. The highlight of Meteora are the jaw-dropping views, which you can easily see by car/van. The monasteries themselves have a lot of stairs to climb to view the interiors. I think Cappadocia would be kind of tricky because of the rocky terrain and hiking Franz Josef requires a high mobility level.
Nice 😊
Awesome tips!
Where did you stay ?
We stayed in a wonderful Airbnb within walking distance of the center of the city. Be warned -- there's lots of stairs! www.airbnb.com/rooms/49361112?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=cfc0a6b0-3e09-4c9e-a5b8-19365eea74c0

Did you hear a sonic boom where you were?
No there wasn’t. Just whoops from the neighborhood when the eclipse was at full coverage! ☺️
Promo'SM 😚
Hi. Was this trip recent? Trying to find out if the trail is still closed? Thanks.
We were there January 29th. I can’t say if the trail is still closed. It wasn’t apparent why since the path was clear and in good condition.
I think it's hilarious that you two saw the hole in the fence (excuse me *gate*) and decided it was an invitation. 😅
It was hard work getting up there so we weren’t easily deterred 😊
One tip is to convert everything (that you can) to USB C for simplification. It then allows for one recharger and reduces the number of cables. I then have a universal (240-110 volts, plus slide-on adapters for UK/eu/Africa etc.) USB-C charger that can charge my devices (3 at a time) (and battery) very quickly. You might want to do a segment on clothes that survive being crushed, casual and smart....
I thought I saw olive groves in the background. A bit of reading found that they make chocolate there. Orson Wells and Ernest Hemingway spent time there. In fact, a fictional scene from "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is taken from an event he saw in Ronda during the Spanish Civil War. The place goes back to the Neolithic period. Did you find the caves with ancient carvings?
We missed the caves but now we have even more reason to go back
Wandrlust! How are things?. love it. you shared fantastic uploading. 💪
What a great Xmas market :) lovely adventures
🎄❄🎅🖖👍⭐🎁😍my new friend.
Merry Christmas to you too!
The Viktualienmarkt is not a Christmas market, it's actually a constant farmers market that also includes shops and restaurants :) The Maypole has been there since 1962 and depicts famous landmarks and festivities of Munich
@LucaSitan Thanks for your comment. We got a list of Christmas markets from a tourist information office in Munich and their booklet lists it as "Winter Magic at Viktualienmarkt." It definitely has more food stalls than the crafts and gluhwein huts we saw other places. The Maypole was a fun discovery. Is it actually used on May Day? Merry Christmas!
Nice video, thank you from a bavarian. Living about 70 km (44 miles) west of Munich. 👍
Thank you! We hope you had an opportunity to take in some of the holiday festivities. It really is a fabulous time.
V beautiful markets and you captured so beautifully with all details good work love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thnx much. What a fun trip for anyone. We’ll have to visit Switzerland next.
@@WanderlustWithTheMcKenzies most welcome to Switzerland 🇨🇭
Great video, what time of year were you in Pau?
We were in Pau the last week of May. Weather was just perfect.
Thank you for this video! I'll be in Munich in a few weeks - wish I'd have been there for the Christmas markets!
What a city. I hope you like beer gardens AND spectacular churches
Happy Christmas celebrations guys, thank you for sharing your videos abroad, Christmas time is just puuuurrfect turning back kids, when Jesus is born, getting back the innocence lost, wishing you guys use such trips as best inspirations of life, kids need to add more Christmas decorations to the tree, being creative is crucial, no matter which job they will ever do as grown ups, little angels or elfs, tiny Santas is such a big fun feeling fine . .. building up the humankind all over again. It's even a psychological leverage, learning to change the world and make it look cute cheerful and nice like funny faces, animals pets and harmless puppies, this world of cannibals hateful arrogant war criminals must wake up everybody, let's focus on tomorrow news and ...let it look like Christmas time all the time 💝🎻👏🍀🌈💯🤗👍🎧💎📀🦋🎂👌🎊🥂👌🙋😊
Thank you for your video, glad you enjoyed visiting Menton, its been our favourite holiday destination for over 30 years and we still keep coming back😊
I'm always on the hunt for the "perfect" travel purse. Do you have a recommendation?
Baggalini is my go-to travel purse. There are a lot of different sizes and styles. I have several of their cross-body purses. I like that they have zipper compartments and an anti-theft design with RFID protection for credit cards and passports. For a simple slim design, take a look at amzn.to/49Hulvr. If you need more room amzn.to/3QOCwNF. For more room yet, I also have a pickpocket proof backpack purse that has the zipper towards your back: amzn.to/3MTAn2a (not Baggalini)
It's not à "Croissant au chocolat" BUT a "Chocolatine" !!!!!!
I should have said pain au chocolat. You’re right, also called chocolatine. Delicious under any name!
@@WanderlustWithTheMcKenzies NEVER say "Pain au chocolat" in Pau cause its a Béarn and South ouest french town, say CHOCOLATINE !!! It's very important for us. We let the wrong and ugly word "pain au chocolat" 🤢🤮 for the people who live in Paris and north of France. Now you know the truth. Adishatz
Thank you for sharing. It’s great to understand regional differences. Chocolatine is my favorite French pastry and I will it call it so going forward! 😊

What kind of drone do you use? I have the DJI mini 2. Nice video.
Hey Steve: Thanks. I bought a mini Mavic from Costco before Covid. All manual operations but reliable. The mini 2 is a real upgrade from what I’m told but the original is easy to pack even when everything needs to fit in a small roller bag and a backpack
I would be glad to be on the back of an elephant passing a snake charmer…. I don’t find snakes charming
Ancient bus. 😂 This was great!
