Ha ha Craig I did lure fishing for a while I have Plano boxes x6 mega price So many plugs etc 200 plus Bait casters from America lol Use none of it but get excited looking at it Can’t sell it like rods either as normal people just buy a few !!! I too had a friend and we sat together when the now deceased Harris angling catalogue came out and my we were like kids in a sweet shop !!!! Phoning through the orders Cheers
One of may favorite tarp set up is the tarp tent which can be a bit of a fiddle, but that one looks so easy.
Hi and thanks for watching, Really quick and seems good quality stitching etc Cheers from the bivy
Mld bivvy does look good, but wow ,the price lol, I'll stick with my army bivvy bag (with a lovely 3'zip in it), and my large dutch hooped bivvy, with the mutlimat 25, which is only 20mm ,I think, r-rating of 5.2, works great together, combined with a dtuch army roll mat underneath the bivvy, I just roll it up as one, width of the mat, in a dutch army roll mat bag, spot on ,cool comparisons Adrian, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hi Craig, thanks for watching, what’s the multi mat, seems good r value of over 5 yet only 20mm thick, interested to know details, MLD is exceptional being so light, but purchased for a specific reason, long trek Cheers Adrian
@northumberlandmountainhopper multi mat trekker/adventure 25 is a self inflating mat used by the military, I have the full length version, heavy ish, bombproof, about £35, atb craig
@@paganoutdoors3193thanks Craig I will check it out Might be handy for rough woodland camps, I am always worried about the mats lol
Well Craig I have just looked, wish I had know. About these before 183x51 at 890 gr and 5.4 r rating I just paid 120 for a sea to summit winter mat and that was half price It’s 1050 gr yes 1050 gr but at least it’s 7.4 r value it’s 200x 60 so big Ether light extreme I think without looking But this mat of yours is a bargain just found one new at £32 tempted lol
@northumberlandmountainhopper lol, it does get tempting, most of my outdoor gear is bought normally in the early hours, when I can't sleep, me and my mate are as bad as each other for it, normally txt each other "whoops" ,meaning we've bought something else, lol, too tempting looking online at but shops, same with fishing too, atb craig
Cool camp as always Adrian, love a snow camp 👌, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hi Craig thanks for watching, glad you liked it, Cheers Adrian

Hi and thanks for watching Cheers from the bivy

So has a captor 61 litres which is barely enough lol I have a nice Vango 70+10 which carries great but weighs 2kg where the 58 only weighs 1.4kg Army Burgens look great but are heavy but like the bivy’s will last. Rab 1100 is fantastic without doubt the loft is amazing Cheers from a bivy

@northumberlandmountainhopper Hi Bivy, yeah that's a Boss Effort on the training mate, and 👍 any and all Training will definitely pay off on any of your Expedition's mate,, just don't overdo but 4mile 8kg really good,,, but 5mile 10kg is calling muka 😁,, yeah and understand your point mate but I'm a one Burgen man for all environments biv,, But 💯 percent Right on got to dry bag every bit of kit not Just to keep Dry ,, to Find Fast and to control weight distribution and Place,,But NOTHING WORSE than Wet Kit bivvy 🥶😰🥶 Seen a few lads go man down in that situation mate 🪖🥶,, good luck 👍 with the training and good luck 👍 with the Scotland Expedition bivvy looking forward to the Video, all the best mate Scouse 🪖,,ps I'm teaching me lad (10 year old) at half term in the garden before I take him out might take a video to show you my setup , if you would be interested Bivy ?? of 1 hennessy hammock jungle XL and 1 hennessy hammock Explorer,, and One 14ft Superfly Warbonnet Tarp ,,and quite a few other bits of kit Bivy😅 thanks for reply mate Scouse 🪖
Hi bud, if you re thinking of a tent have a word with Colin at Outdoor Gear Essentials and have a look at the Lanshan 1 tents. Get the Pro single skin for the lightest or look at the version with an inner as you can take it out and have basically an enclosed tarp tent. Cant fault them for the money. Also either use a bin liner or a nyloflume pack liner to put your rucksack then stuff your sleeping bag in to that with any extra clothes. Squash the air out and just twist the top of the bag shut. Keep s everything perfectly dry.
Hi and thanks for watching, always fancied a lanshan but love the bivy more, but perhaps needs must, who knows, bin liners do seem popular Cheers Adrian
Good video and beautiful scenery. If you want to get some serious daily training in then concentrate first on load carrying. Load up you bergen with 1 litre water bottles to reach at laest 50% more than you intend to carry. You MUST use filled water bottles as these you can empty as things get harder. Do it every day and record the amount of water you carry (and discard) each day. This gives you and indicator as to how fit you are getting. Obviously the water can be discarded in bulk if you need to. Our standard training weight is 40 Kg but we rarely need to carry that amount (but could if in an emergency)Take care, Helen, Katarin Juska-Law with Stella Jorgensson
Hi and thanks for watching, Glad you enjoyed it, Always a good commenter for tips, All well and good, but what about knee pain, bad enough with 15k lol Cheers from the bivy
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Guess it depends on the cause of the knee pain - arthritis or wear and tear = not much - muscle wear and tear = gradual strengthening with slowly increasing loads. The is always the American 'vitamin I' solution BUT that needs medical advice re other medication you may be taking.

Fine mesh netting ... Scottish midges are smaller than mosquitos , you'll need a mesh covering to get any sleep in Scotland , a tent can make life easier for a midge free sleep .
Hi and thanks for watching, And the ideas We have the same midge in Northumberland I have various forms of protection from head nets to full midge jackets, April should be ok for midges, the idea of a tent was more, to better help with setting up in wind and if the wind direction changes in the night, and I suppose a bit more privacy. Very cool tarp 🇬🇧 🇳🇿

@northumberlandmountainhopper well it has to be better than just sitting around.
Also i have a couple of small tents i use mostly the Helm 2 packs very small and to be honest has been pretty good with regards condensation

Those tarp/poncho are a good investment, you definitely had the weather Adrian, rather cold than wet and cold .👍👍
Hi and thanks for watching, it certainly was nice weather, It will be great as a waterproof in the summer cover the pack as well and lighter than my pak lites Cheers Adrian
Lovely video as usual, best wishes to you and especially your wife.
Hi and thanks for watching, Glad you enjoyed it Thanks for the wishes Cheers Adrian
Famous old illicit whisky still up that way if you get a chance to go back!
Hi and thanks for watching I think I know where it is, My friend found it when he explored the spot as well, Even though the farm is there it’s still very remote Cheers Adrian
Great video as always. I have 2 ponchos and the bugnet inner. It's a fantastic bit of gear. Can be connected together to make fully enclosed tent. Or a spacious awning. I'm a big fan of onewind.
Hi and thanks for watching Glad you enjoyed it I looked at it and thought too small but no it’s just right, it really is a good bit of kit I will probably use it more of a summer cape as lighter than waterproof gear And the odd sheltered camp Cheers Adrian
Another great video Adrian! I was out myself on Saturday, exploring woods I’d never visited before. The terrain as hard going, steep inclines, knee high brambles, and bog. After 5 miles of that I decided to change location to a woods I was more familiar with, racing against the daylight at the same time. Reaching my second location it was a 3 mile uphill hike through soft wet mud and I had to find a pitch in almost darkness. I got my tarp up and set out my bivvi and sleep system. I too was on a slight slope which is a pain. I managed to knock up a little dinner and drank as little as possible so I wouldn’t have to get up in the night. I lay with a great view of the clear night sky full of stars, the crescent moon and one of the planets shone incredibly bright. I woke up to a fresh crisp morning, bivvi and sleep mat covered in frost. Packed up and had a leisurely stroll back to the car. I spotted three white deer on my return which for me was the cherry on the cake. Not all trips go to plan but glad I dealt with it and it turned out to be one I will remember!
Hi and thanks for watching Glad you enjoyed it Your trip sounded great, you should film it Albino deer great to see, easy to poach as well which is a shame We need none slip kit !!! Bits of silicone helps but does not last and makes stuff messy I feel Cheers from the bivy
@ I work at B&Q, there is a product called “rug slip” I’ve been thinking of cutting a piece of this to go under my sleeping bag, it comes in much larger sizes than I’d need so a little of it hopefully won’t weigh that much!….. I will let you know if I do try it out 👍
Great spot Adrian. The Onewind shelter is a great option to keep things light and its always good to have items as dual use etc. Lots of light weight bags for kit is good way to store stuff etc. Its worth a gram or too. Nicely done brother.
Hi and thanks for watching Glad you liked it Got a couple of yours to catch up Weight !!! What can we do Fitness it’s all down hill lol Cheers from the bivy
Wow that was some rough terrain…have fun stay safe.
Hi and thanks for watching, So remote it’s great Cheers Adrian
That waterfall has been on my list for a few years but I still haven't done it. Fine weather you had this time. Hope all goes well for your wife. Thanks for sharing again.
Hi and thanks for watching, Yes it’s a great spot, but imagine if that fire pit was on the grass in front of the waterfall !! They are easier routes to it from the valley, I dare say you know, Cheers Adrian
If your pole was longer you could run it right to the back and have it angled to the hood, this would be a support on the back wall. I see potential here. Good video. 👍❤️😇
Hi and thanks for watching, wow that’s a great tip, I love the comments, my walking pole did have plenty of spare, we will try next time it’s out for a camp. Cheers Adrian

I do think theyre a good idea buy as an extra rather than the main protection. Thanks for showing it to us. Take care.

Thanks again for the content Adrain. Pleasure as always no nonsense straight to the point. Is that a down jacket by montane? I try to keep my gear olive green or camo nowadays to blend into the countryside. Cheers.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos, Yes montane, tighter fit than the Rab so better under waterproofs or in bivy, prefer the Rab fit but can get these from the factory shop far cheaper and it’s good kit. If it's an ex-army poncho, you press stud two together for that.
Hi and thanks for watching, 300 grams with the pegs ! Magic I think I will be using it a fair bit, the cape is great Cheers Adrian
@ashleyhoward8926 it's a French military, rather than British, great for keeping dry, but too small for camping under.
Great video Adrian ! You never disappoint ! Looks compact. I looked into some but not sure if combo tarp & ponchos are for me. I would probably never use it as a poncho. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Rod, I think the cape appeals the most for me keeps the pack dry and nice and airy Cheers Adrian
poncho tarp Very versatile bit of kit 👍 you had it under guite a bit of tension as well ⛺
Hi and thanks for watching Honestly it’s a great bit of kit I will be using it on calm days or woodland days, but great as a cape to keep the pack dry in the showers Cheers Adrian
Your last comment, we were taught to keep the sleeping bag in the bivi bag and stuff them both then in the rucksack.
Hi, makes sense, easy with the MLD, Alpkit and perhaps the army, but the hooped army is massive Trouble is everything is space Hungary Still think a small stuff sack works good for me but I am going to persevere with stuffing it. Cheers Adrian
Please help me

trail star and army bivi, (these will be safe and you would manage the extra gram). Tent safety but not the same and too enclosed. Just look at the other kit your taking to loose weight
Hi and thanks for watching, need a zip in the army one which will soon. Be in hand, I probably will make my final decision the week before, see the forecast, which will be wrong but it helps, Cheers from the bivy
