I just bought three of those Ethiopian opals that are over 50 grams each. I got them yesterday, and they are really beautiful when I shine a little light on them. They called them "water opals " and told me to keep them wet. I have some others, also Ethiopian, which are incredibly beautiful, and I have been told to keep those ones dry. I have been collecting "rough" parcels of Ethiopian opal and Australian chips and off cuts. I have a few ɓeautiful pieces of Andamooka matrix that have been treated. I have to say that these Ethiopian opal that I bought would have cost 10x as much if they were the same size and as brightly flashy Australian opals. I was just staring at them with my phone's light on them all day yesterday.
