There is a movie, called Imaginaerum: based on their studio album. Tuomas told, that it is about his alter ego.

All their music is impressive, Every song brings me joy or tears, like this one. Their song The Greatest Show on Earth is over 20 minutes long but when you watch it it feels more like 5 minutes as you are so engrossed in the show that time is irrelevant. I think I will watch this concert tonight as I watch one every Saturday night

Sorry to hear about your sister. 🙏🙏 A wonderful cause you are dedicated to in hear memory. This is one of the most important compositions in the history of the band. Much more than a song. It encompasses and emotionally lays out a tragic and unfortunate incident with the band and their first vocalist. The dismissal of Tarja happened 19 years ago. This song was in response to the fallout and was released 17 years ago.

Enjoyed your reaction. This is Tuomas's (keyboardist ands main composer) most personal and emotional song. It is also very personal and emotional for most fans. In 2005 the band had reached a breaking point with their first lead singer, Tarja. Things between her, her husband/manager and the band had been deteriorating for some time and had reached the point where they could no longer work together. The band decided to fire her, which they did via an open letter, right after the End of an Era concert. Tarja responded with her own open letter explaining her side of things. The backlash against the band, but mostly against Tuomas, was massive and very nasty. Tuomas felt betrayed by Nightwish's fans and sank into a deep depression. He wrote this song as way of expressing and exploring all of the emotions of his depression and grief. Tuomas often uses the poet in his lyrics to reference himself and yes, he does have a great affinity for the ocean. He sees it as a place of refugee. I highly recommend you read the analysis of this song by the artist Annika Hausen. IMO it is a brilliant, master's level analysis and I think you would really enjoy it. I would provide a link but every time I do the YT algorithms delete my comment. Just google her name and Poet and the Pendulum. A few thoughts on the lyrics. "One last perfect verse but still the same old song." For me this is Tuomas saying I have nothing new to write for my so called fans, which is like death for a poet like him. The line " A thousand pages of erased text" represents all the songs that Tuomas would have written for Tarja but now would never be heard. The blade falls (Tuomas making the slashing motion across his neck). The heart beat slows and finally stops mid beat. The original version of Nightwish is dead. The last part of the song, Mother and Father, gets me every time. The lyrics are actual words spoken by his parents during the depths of his depression. Floor perfectly channeling the anguish of a mother who has lost her child. Then the words, In the Beginning, signaling the birth of a new version of Nightwish. For me this is Nightwish's greatest song. Their Magnum Opus. Tuomas pouring out his heart and anguish in the music and lyrics. Floor perfectly channeling the anger and pain. It fills me with emotion and lets me connect to Tuomas in a profound way. This song is no longer performed live. Tuomas has said they (him, Empuu, and at the time Marko) are not those people anymore and they have moved on. Performing it just takes Tuomas back to that difficult place emotionally. Emppu and Marko come over and check in on Tuomas through out the song to make sure he is ok emotionally. Tuomas often would have the sound engineers turn off the vocal feed in his in ears because it would make him too emotional. I am so grateful that he chose to write this song and share this part of himself with us. Everything about this song and performance is about making us feel his emotions. I encourrage you to do a deeper dive into the backstory. Read the open letters. Read Annika's analysis and listen once again and then please come back and share how knowing the backstory changed or didn't change how you experienced the song. One of the things I love about Nightwish is their ability to evoke emotions in me and their fans and I am very interested to hear what emotions you felt after taking a deeper dive into the song.

Given that, I'm sure you would enjoy this song that Tuomas wrote to celebrate the life of his father, who passed away in 2021: Nightwish - Lanternlight (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO). P.S. They have their own 2012 movie called "Imaginaerum" & the 2003 film "The Book of Fate" has "End of All Hope" on it's soundtrack. In addition, the 2005 films "The Cave" & "Alone in the Dark" have their songs on their soundtracks - the former has "Nemo" & the latter "Wish I Had an Angel".Finally, the 2007 Finnish movie "Lieksa" has their song "While Your Lips Are Still Red" on it's soundtrack.

For Tuomas, the band and the old fans this is an extraordinary important song! Tuomas often turns off the vocals to continue playing. Inbetween and at the end of the song the band (his shoulder) takes care of Tuomas! But please read the lyrics and understand the context (no need to read everything!) then find the gems ("the end, 3 minutes left, the beginning") and THEN enjoy the emotional ride while watching it once again😊

It's about Tuomas dealing with his emotions about the split with Tarja (foundingmember) and NIGHTWISH. It was so heavy, did have impacts on fin. Society! Please read the (in-) famous " Open Letters " by TUOMAS and TARJA!!! TUOMAS one side of NIGHTWISH passion and on the other side business, so many depending on him. This song was a kartharsis for TUOMAS, a poetic suicide he didn't had to commit in reality. Thank you for your wonderful reaction as usual. Unusual song for Babymetal but a great one, especially live with the Kami intro. Additional fun fact about the Western Kami band, as already mentioned three members came from the Star Wars themed cover group Galactic Empire. They already met each other in October 2018 when Galactic Empire and Sabaton were supporting acts for some Babymetal shows in Japan. During Meta Taro at the Dark Night Carnival show Chris Kelly in his Darth Vader costume and Joakim Brodén from Sabaton come on stage. Lately they had been roating the bassist, it seems Clint Tustin has other appointments so he was replaced by Ryan Neff for the Asia and US legs of the 2023 tour and most festivals this summer. Since October they have Matt Deis on bass for the tour around America.

Nice one, thanks! BABYMETAL are SU-METAL (lead vocals), MOAMETAL and MOMOMETAL (backing vocals & dance). As already said, the solos were provided by the western set of the Kami Band (well, it's actually the current set of the band since the latest performance of the eastern musicians was in January 2023). They are (in order of the solos): Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass) and Anthony Barone (drums). The studio version of the song went initially under my radar (not much a hard rock fan and I was new to BABYMETAL back in late 2019). But then, I listened to the live version and the intro got my attention (the intro is not part of the studio recording), specially the drums section and that blastbeat in particular by Barone, using his personal signature technique: the gravity blast. "Kagerou" represents the more adult side of BABYMETAL both for the choreography and for the lyrics with a theme that is not usual for them: jealousy. This live performance from Legend-MM is amazing and I believe it speaks for itself. 🤘🦊

There's only 1 Kami band and it's been like that for years. The current (American) band plays ALL of their shows regardless of what country they're in. If you're going to give facts, then make sure that they are indeed, facts. So lazy.

Yes this was the West Kami Band (world class musicians from the U.S.) who as of late have taken over the duties as the full-time touring band for the ladies (the East Kami Band last performed together onstage with the East Kami Band in 2022 I believe). It has been speculated that most members of the East (who were the Official Touring Band of BABYMETAL since 2012 have since retired). Three of the West Kami's are from the U.S. band Galactic Empire and all four are fairly young and like the East are completely devoted to the ladies and respect the girls talent, work ethic, discipline and high character.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Kagerou" is a word having 4 syllables like Ka-ge-ro-u [kɑ･gé･ro･ʊ]. Kami (= God) Band, the musicians with virtuosity, Chris, CJ, Anthony, Clint (and other two bassists : Ryan / Matt) have been dedicating their energy to BABYMETAL's international activities (including in Japan) long and extensive enough to be called as "our" band. They are amazing knights to protect our queen and princesses. Su is singing about jealousy against someone using a metaphor of heat haze, "Kagerou". The hash emotion is shimmering from her inner blaze, and it seems to me that her emotion will not erupt but turn into magma deep down. It's scary😱 . This is the song featuring BM's heavy, dark, seductive and sultry side. The girls have grown up into ladies without doubt.

Nice, great song, great reaction! Kami = “spirit/god”. So the “god, or spirits of guitar, bass, and drum” were sent to aid Babymetal, as the story goes. Also, Kami West weren’t geographically restricted. Kami East members weren’t able to play as often when Babymetal ramped up their touring so they added Kami West to assist. Since Apr 2023, Kami West became Babymetal’s sole backing band. 🤘🦊

Remember when pronouncing the Japanese Romaji (western script/Latin script) its normally 'Consonant-vowel Consonant-vowel' so you sound out each group phonetically...sometimes there are 2 vowels. Its actually easier than English since there are no silly rules like the silent 'e'..LoL.the fun one is the "Tsu" sound..LoL!! So its, "Ka - ge - rou" Oh, and yeah,,,2 Lead guitars..and this was the Western Kami's! Hope that helps and as always.... Put your Kitsune UP!!
