    I love Rohini the piece where you spoke of not needing to be on a constant quest anymore to feel happy or well being all the time. That you can have your human experience and be ok with that and still know fundamentally you are ok. This is the piece I’m just beginning to see, it’s a deep knowing that well bring truly is underneath it all at all times and is the only thing that is really true about me and just the thought of it is so incredibly freeing❤🎉

    The way my understanding has evolved currently is I see the non-dual perspective as the most true from an absolute perspective but the 3P perspective as more effective from a practical every day or psychological perspective. Also as a long time 3P practitioner I feel that I let go too much of practices that were beneficial so I feel this really hard line that 3P teachers take of no practices or bust is a mistake. What's a problem with practices is putting them before one's pure psycho-spiritual understanding, but once the cart isn't put before the horse practices are wonderful at times.

    This was fascinating. You spoke about being in the sensation of felt senses and not the mind/thought. So it would appear that doing somatic work to practice actually being in the body and in the moment with our senses are necessary for those that are so used to living in their heads. I have clients that don't even know what hunger is at the moment because they don't even know what that feels like as they have always followed a diet. Or those that simply don't know how to be with feelings. Would you say that practicing somatic mindfulness would keep us out of our heads? Because it sounds like it can be a process to get to use to being in the moment that practicing is what makes it easier experimentally ?

    • @oolala53
      @oolala53 8 месяцев назад

      Somatic mindfulness is one way to "get us out of our heads." We have a flow of thoughts nearly all the time, many of which are constant evaluations of "how we're doing" and how to advance ourselves,, avoid danger, etc. If you want a brain structure associated with it, it's called the default mode network and it runs nearly any time we are not engaged in some kind of task that has an element of difficulty to it and a reward for completion. (For that we use a part of the brain that is basically a task manager.) The issue is that we have innocently developed very strong patterns of attention on that flow of thoughts so that we are barely aware of anything else, like just the phenomena of the senses, the sounds around us, the sensations in the body, the air temperature, the light and dark shapes on our eyelids when eyes are closed, and other phenomena. Our "mind" (that flow of thoughts) has us convinced that these other things cannot help solve our problems, so we keep letting our attention go back to thoughts. It's innocent and not a character defect. Gently putting attention on the other phenomena makes a new habit of paying less attention to the DMN flow. To some degree, it is access the consciousness that babies experience before they acqurie language and develop a sense of being a person. IN the three principles work, there is no emphasis on meditation, but a basic kind of meditation is calmly directing attention to somatic phenomena so the DMN thoughts recede into the background and even slow. I think Sydney didn't talk about it because his awakening experience kind of catapulted him into that consciousness space. This can happen spontaneously or sometimes with deep understanding, but often it is cultivated with meditation. So, yes, guiding people to direct attention to the body is part of being in the moment beause the body is always in the moment. You cannot experience a sensation from the past or future. Even if the body experience is influenced by a past event or imaginary future event, its experience is now.

      Yes, you are right there is a learning curve to staying present. We can listen to our inner guidance as to what supports this. There is no one-size-fits-all, but we all have the wisdom to guide us to presence. Thanks for your comment.

    Have traits very similar to Angus. However would like to say just, I don't agree with that narrative in your head thing.. with me, the facts count. The fact was, the room was too warm, etc. Had a situation last week, where it went as far as a meltdown unfortunately, because of external discomforts out of my reach and control. Has nothing to do with narratives in our heads. Our brain is wired differently. We think and experience and act on certain situations differently. That is why we should recognise these external factors, and the other person involved can support us by acknowledging this. Thank you.
