Hi I’ve got metal ones In mine, can I replace with the plastic ones, is this a revision I have a axx engine
Can I ask u I have stock turbo and about to get my car mapped but I have a rs4 return valve larger intercooler...decat exhaust...but the tuner is saying the car is over fueling on idle could the rs4 valve course this ?
How was the result?
300 på hjuleeeeeeeeen!!!!!!
Would it be possible to replace these with a rubber o-ring? If they’re supposed to make a strong seal, then I feel like a rubber seal would be an improvement. Unless they’re just meant to slow oil flow instead.
No oil needs to pass still, that would starve your tensioner of oil
Hi Joe, Can you please provide drawings for this mod?
See comments below.
Did you ever end up running these? Would be interested to know more info and the drawings and links you mentioned in the description please.
Yes, been running for 1-2 years now. What more info do you need?
Nice work, glad it's been working. You mentioned a drawing by KevinC to machine the cap...which you could provide a link to? Would you be able to post that up or upload the drawings somewhere please?

Have a video of how to set up the gas line of the hdfp after the modification? I guess the position will change right?
I had to use an adapter, but the fuel line can be bent by hand so no problem.
Can you make an update video on this, how did you manage the heat shield?

On paper as on the dyno? Not dynoed.

Nice videos! Helpful info for the future B7 people! Did you keep the o2 sensors in place when removing the cat or did you unscrew them first? If you unscrewed them were the wires/leads easy to access and follow and unclip from the harness?
I unscrewed the front O2 sensor, but unclipped the rear sensor (just disconnect it under the coolant reservoir and trace the wire back to the sensor and clip any retainer / zip tie along the wiring harness.

@@markmkv940 Yeah, "audib720ts"
I replaced the cam chain and tensioner INNA brand on my Audi 2.0L TFSI two years ago as it was rattling badly on low rpm acceleration. Those rings were not broken and were teflon or plastic (not sure the material) so I didn't mess up with them. What I read, originally they are metal rings and when they wear they make grooves inside the adjuster. After 10k km rattling appeared again... I think the tensioner gave up again and this time I am thinking to replace tensioner to other brand like Febi and rings also. Does anybody know if rings wear out and is it worth to replace them if they are not broken?
If you must go in there for another good reason, best to swap the rings on a high mileage engine. Many don't focus on the importance of oil flow and containment of oil to the VVT system. They often neglect removing the N205 pickup screen and cleaning it. It's a small cylindrical cup screen inserted into the lower lip of the cam adjuster/chain cover. The cam adjuster itself can get gummed up internally causing a delay in cam timing. And there is one small valve inside the cam adjuster which affects oil containment and flow within the adjuster.Yes, the older rings could groove the center bore of the cam adjuster...and lose oil there. Again, any loss or escapement, or blockage, of oil affects cam timing.
@@Roh_Echt Thx for reply. I finished the job long time ago and I noticed that 1 ring was broken, others were not. I measured old rings outer diameter and they were the same as new ones so I replaced only broken one. I concluded that rings do not wear a lot so do not need to be replaced regularly.
What’s the symptoms if one of these break while driving I’m having hesitation total loss of throttle at low rpm like throttle goes completely dead have to press it a few times for it to start giving power again
my friend you are 100 percent in that these are the sh$tiest most expensive piece of plastic you'll ever come across. Since I work on cars with this engine, everytime I'm at a pick and pull junkyard, I grab a handfull of them if I can manage to take them off without damage.
Sounds awesome! Great video! Good job.
Whats really the functions of these.mine broke but I used the car like that.but it losed power.
it is supposed to regulate the oil flow to the cam wheel... I am getting mine replaced as well
There are sections which the N205 distributes and controls the amount of oil into the cam adjuster for it to function; through corresponding holes between the N205 and the center-bore of the cam adjuster on the end of the exhaust cam. The flow and containment of oil within the VVT system is crucial for proper cam timing.
I'll just buy the kit. Finding someone to cnc the hole is just as expensive, at least for me
Where you buy the kit?
Did your car idle alot rougher I have same but mine is lumpy at idle and not sure if normal any feedback be great
Not sure yet: engine is installed now, but I am waiting for a coolant hose before firing it up the first time! Hopefully next week!
Any updates?
Is this the 2.0 tfsi engine I have p000a fault and been searching in the internet what I could be I came to the point that I needs to me the 3 rings?
I have the same code, from research, replacing the seals is first thing to try. Waiting for delivery. Local dealer quoted $120 for the set so I ordered on Amazon.
Hey Joe, This is now almost 3 years ago. How is the intercooler dooing after 3 years?
Hi! Sorry about the late response! FMIC is doing great: took it off to install my new engine and everything looks like new. I am replacing a few hose clams for Mikalor clamps, but I have no complaints about it. Looks and works great.
I had the adapter made and the housing machined. Installation is a little difficult. You will need to swap the hpfp test port with the sensor on the other side of the port. This is because the sensor on the front will interfere with the large solid coolant line running from front to back on the engine. Also you will need to bend the hpfp fuel line to correct position since it is different now with the adapter installed. The cad part that was made was made on a 5 axis cnc machine and the mounting holes needed to be opened up a bit to mount correctly. We used a cnc mill machine to bore out the housing to the same diameter as the current opening for the hpfp. No addition spring needed with this roller follower since it is the exact size needed to function correctly with the oem hpfp. Nice work and thank you for this excellent mod.
Wow man, I wish I had read your comments two weeks ago! I had to find out the same things basically that I could have just read from your post here. I bent the fuel line (easy enough), but I went with the Bar-Tek fuel sensor relocation adapter instead of swapping sensor and test port.
Can you show us what it looks like installed? And where the sensor was relocated to?
Are all these rings supposed to move freely once on? Because the first two rings on mine are able to spin but the 3rd one doesnt. Its stuck on place
I'm on the same boat. Mine are still kinda loose, they aren't as tight as these.
Loose is fine...they will close when carefully worked into the cam adjuster. A bit of tacky lube sometimes helps hold them in place for the install. Some do break the rings when replacing the cam adjuster/chain cover. Because they do not gently work the bit with the rings into the center-bore of the cam adjuster.
What about the spring?
It is not required in all configurations. For instance I have an Autotech HPFP.
No spring change needed. This part works perfectly with the follower listed. The added space created by the follower roller make up for the thickness of the machined cad part.
Köpte du reglerventil också?
Nej, inget sådant.
Hi Joe Dirt, Great channel and your content is very informative. This is a beautiful motor. I have a question re: my 2015 B8.5 A4. I am interested in Loba LO400L K04, and aside from Loba HPFP and RS3 injectors, do you suggest any other upgrades like forged internals, etc.? Thanks!
Hi, with the B8.5 you're already at a better starting point for performance. If you decide on RS3 injectors, please be advised you might need to modify the head as well as get a modified electrical harness.
I have the elusive check engine light p0089. Will this cause CEL p0089 to illuminate if the valve is bad(stuck open/close)?
