CFD Adjoint Topology Optimization of the Wedgetail Radar Array
A sequence showing the changes in flow around a mockup of the Boeing Wedgetail radar. At each pause in the video, the adjoint solver is solving for the sensitivities of the surfaces with respect to drag. Those sensitivity vectors are then used to morph the shape to reduce drag. Using physics-guided automatic optimization techniques like this can fetch huge performance gains at very low cost.

How safe is your equipment? This rock crusher design had tough shielding requirements due to high forces and continuously fatiguing components. This first design didn't pass muster, so we improved it.

A simple highly compliant duct FSI study to explore appropriate settings for compressible gas interaction in a duct.
Gluggle Jug CFD Simulation

I was inspired to simulate the "gluggle jug" demonstrated by Steve Mould to show how the glugging occurs. #cfd #gluggle Steve's investigation: ruclips.net/video/2IKZIWVHXvo/видео.html
Tank Drop Analysis
Просмотров 22Год назад
A bunded tank drop analysis including a plastics damage model performed using Abaqus' coupled Eularian-Lagrangian (CEL) approach. Damage to the tank and bund are evident as the tank impacts and rebounds. The second part of the video shows how the fluid inside of the tank sloshes and impacts the tank surfaces during impact. We can certify your designs before you invest in costly and long-lead to...

A lecture given by Kava Crosson-Elturan to Aerospace New Zealand about using the adjoint solver in Star-CCM to reduce drag on aerostructure. Three examples are given: a pitot tube, the 737 Wedgetail and a transonic rocket.
Sediment Trap Accumulation CFD
Просмотров 327Год назад
A study to determine best practices for modelling a drain trap with Lagrangian particles. The particles are colored by size, with heavier particles sinking more rapidly and having more drag force once landed. A free surface VOF (volume of fluid) model provides the flow field which drives the particles. Particle mass flow rate is monitored at the outlet to determine the efficiency of the trap. T...

EV Battery Pack Cooling CFD Simulation

Matrix Applied Computing Ltd. - We are lucky to have a new CAE team member Kava who brings decades of experience specialising in CFD. He created this short clip of a small liquid-cooled battery module with 4680 cells in a 5P4S configuration (2 kWh). Modelled in SolidWorks and analyzed in Star-CCM . It shows internal heat generation from a 2C current drives the simulation, with orthotropic therm...
