    Note that fire & maneuver and rapid fire are not the same rule. Rapid fire is only possible if you give an fire or ambush order. In comparison you can use fire and maneuver if you receive an advance order.

    We have been expecting too much. I've said it before and I'll say it again Warlord have just embarked on the Games Workshop Train. Bolt Action v4 release date September 2028, just giving Warlord Games enough time to sell the Army Books, Its not about fixing anything its about changing something weather it be for the good or the bad so that sales of figures or rules books can be increased or stimulated again. I'm not a tournament player so playing the rules is not my thing. Would have like a change to see Bolt Action be more Historically correct thus playing the period. Here I agree they may just have changed a WW2 game into a WW1 game in the attempt to fix tournament play instead of changing it to more historical thus maintaining a WW2 fire and manoeuvre type game.

    Warlord stated they will take all universal rules from all different army books and bring them together in the main rulebook. No rules in Army books.

    Officers can not snap other officers. I contacted Warlord and they said RAW it is not intended in V2 but people played it that way and Warlord then said if your TO allows it then play it that way. In real life a LT will frown upon another LT giving him orders and Captains will also not take orders from another Captain. It is one of those things to Warlord like when to play the cover saves, play as you want!!

      FAQ disagress with you page 25 Q: "When allocating orders out by using an officer’s ‘You men, snap to action’ special ability, can I allocate Order dice to other officers’ teams within range? If so, can these other officers also then in turn use their ‘You men, snap to action’ special ability to order more units within range (including potentially other officers and so on?)?" A: Yes, you can.

    With vehicles it would be easier to do the cover save before damage because if they take damage and pins and are saved at the end you will need to reverse all the damage effects as it never happened due to the saves. So if the save takes place before the damage then you know whether to proceed with calculating or not.

    the close combat rules now make sense..... if you attack someone in the open, they can see you, so your 'advantage' is matched by their chance to prepare; while if you are attacking someone in cover, they are already prepared, so they roll first...... obviously, with engineers having more explosives, etc. they negate that, and other units, such as gurkhas and commandoes may get additional rules that affect the rolling order.

    Well assaulting an enemy position in close quarters IS risky in real life and not a preferred method of attack. You're almost guaranteed casualties. So shooting should be better and more preferred because you can use cover and distance from the enemy as an advantage. The assault rule makes sense in real life. Maybe not for a gaming aspect where everything has to be a fair rock-paper-scissor balance....but war was never fair to start with 🤷‍♂️

      But isn't it fair to say the overwhelming majority of players don't play competitive? We get that v3 will mess with the comp meta, but as a historical list player I say fuck the meta. When I'm looking to play a thematic ww2 tabletop game and someone brings a gurka spam or bbq list I say BYE. not interested in playing min max lists when we just want a bit of fun set in a cinematic ww2 setting.

    At 35-36mins in. I think you guys are missing the fact that pins in V2 are punishing you twice for being pinned. You're punished because it affects your order tests, and if you have 3-4 pins on a unit, you're probably not going to be activating that unit. Even if you do manage to pass the test, it also punishes you for getting those pins because you can't hit anything anyway. What's the point in activating a unit if it can't do anything when it does? Right now, what most people do is is use the Rally order when pins get that bad (because you probably won't be able to activate it in any case without a Rally Order), having -1 per pin becomes superfluous at that point as well. It's been cut down and simplified, I think, because of these reasons. In another way, I feel it also gives inexperienced troops a bit of a boost. Removing small teams and long range is a big boost to them in particular, as no matter what you did in V2 you were always 7s to hit when you factored in cover. Now, they are just 5s to hit at 24" range, no matter what cover their target is behind. An inexperienced Rifle Platoon in this edition, I feel, would be way more viable in this edition compared to v2 and these 'To Hit' modifiers boost them considerably. Few took inexperienced troops in v2 unless they had an army special rule (Soviets, France, Belgium, Netherlands, for example), or there was something special about a particular unit of inexperienced troops. At the moment, and I do accept that it's not an advisable thing to do, I can see inexperienced artillery being a lot more viable in this edition. I think you've raised some good points up to this point in the video, but I feel you guys are focusing too much on what has been changed and not the potential reasons why it's been changed to be this way. Again, I've only gotten to this point in the video, maybe you mention the above points later.

    I would like to know if there will be new weapons for the common infantry that were not in v2, like grenade rifles for example. I know they were included in the D-Day book, but to be able to do a historically accurate weapons loadout for my US Airborne would be fantastic.

    49:20 You're right to raise this clarification because the diagram to the right of the rule definition conflicts with the rules as-written. The diagram says 1 transport per unit, whereas the rules say 'bums on seats' as you've put it. My theory is that they intend for it to be the 'bums on seats' approach and this is just a mistake in the diagram. It does still need clarifying I think That said, great to hear from WG and good to see they're engaging directly with the feedback/response so far

    I'm not a big fan that the army books will become obsolete, I understand why in this case but it makes me a bit nervous. I'm a casual player so v2 is fine for me and my group and I may not jump to v3 but I'll keep an eye on it.

    ..also, higher level officers should give different orders, and give bonuses for moee startegic level game mechanisms, like a +1 (or no minus) for reserves coming on sort of thing Drop free units, just make what you can get cheaper, or, go with a doctrine for your army and the doctirne gives you access to pojnts adjusted for the theme you've taken (so a Infantry battalion of Russians sjpuld have all infnstry at -2 points) There should be some more minuses for units, and not just Shirkers. So you can buy Reluctant troops which have -1 to their morale, or other abilities. Within 12" (or if hit at all) infantry small arms fire should cause a pin on Armour 7+ vehicles regardless if they cause an exceptional damage. (Shows the aiming at vision ports and the like by troops causing enough focussed fire to effect even the heavier tanks) General clarity and concise rule writing Should need to take an extra officer once you hit 4 or 5 infantry choices sort of thing. Units given suppressing fire or havubg the abaokity to move up to 18" should be able to do so, but must take a pin as a result to show them pushing it too far and burning through their ammo quickly As I said, so much to go through...... 😂

    LMG should be ignore loaders until its just the MG gunner left, unit can split fire, D2 pins. MMG teams - count as a small team, D3 pins Snipers should be 2+ to hit, and add an extra pin if they cause a casualty. Going Down provides a -2 to be hit (thinking of saving private ryan where they keep their heads down. Snipers still ignore cover, small team, etc. Long rahge should count at -1 too Officers should have other orders they can give squads other than Snap To. Suppressing fire, Stand firm, Give no quarter are the names of some of the orders as well as Snap to. Pins should count for first round of combat. So a unit charged should need to pass a Morale test. If failed they only hit on 6s. After that just foght as normal (if they survived) Garands: 100%. SLRs and LMGs in combat should get Tough Fighter if they roll a 6 in combat. There's tons of changes and tweaks like that, but i guess we could go on forever 🤣

      Dan never takes Tough Fighter on his Finns. If a Finn gets into combat, you're playing Finns wrong.
