Here's a short iPhone clip of Jinjer performing a minute of their opening song 'Perennial' in concert. Wish I had more to share, but I wanted to enjoy the live performance in the flesh rather than trough the screen of my iPhone. Short set as opening act to Breaking Benjamin (meh) and Disturbed, but they played with passion and power and Tatiana's voice was perfection!!!

      I remember the original Microsoft Flight Simulator from back in the mid 80s when I was just learning to fly. Pretty primitive by today's standards! I seem to recall it had a Cessna 172 and a 747, and only had Meigs Field and Champagne Urbana in Illinois, and SFO maybe (?) Graphics were mostly points of light. I was working for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at the time and left there for a curriculum development position with one of the top flight simulator based pilot training companies, so it was amazing to watch the evolution of the technology over 4 decades. No substitute for the real thing however!!!

    Hey flyingbarbarian1 - good question and sorry for the delayed response. While it is true that autopilot with altitude hold and altitude alerting are required for cruise flight in RVSM airspace (among other equipment and operational requirements), hand flying during climbs and descents through RVSM airspace is perfectly legal. Of course doing so requires focus, concentration and familiarity with the effects of static air temperature and aircraft weight on performance - and especially AOA. I have experienced autopilot failures several times which required climbing above RVSM airspace and hand flying for hours at FL430. Now that is a mentally exhausting exercise in aircraft control!

      Totally agree. Actually just changed the music from a copyrighted GoPro track (which was not popular with viewers either) to this off the shelf RUclips track. I too would prefer viewers to hear all the ATC chatter, especially in congested airspace like NY. It can get pretty frantic and entertaining! Unfortunately, some privacy and liability guidance from the company that manages our aircraft limits how much communications can be heard in our videos, like our N number for example. That being said I’d like to start doing some multi camera videos and direct audio rather than ‘hot mic’ audio heard with all the other cockpit noises, etc.. Stay tuned for that and turn the volume down! 😄

    Ahh c’mon Cap’n, we like the standstill take off. I don’t get an appreciation of the power from rolling starts. Why do pilots use the rolling start? Is it to do with weather conditions?

    • @larrysmith1851
      @larrysmith1851 3 года назад

      Howdy and thanks for watching! A rolling takeoff is much smoother for the pax in the back and only adds 100' to the static takeoff distance even at max takeoff weight. And with 7323 lbs takeoff thrust per side, there's plenty of power to appreciate! Weather doesn't factor much into it. in fact, a static takeoff can introduce some 'squirrely' handling on a slippery runway when you release the wheel brakes at takeoff power. Practically speaking, the only time a static takeoff is required is when launching from a runway that provides just enough pavement to meet performance requirements and you can't afford to give up even 100'. Think short runways at high field elevations and high outside air temperatures.

      Try this one: ruclips.net/video/rjtYYjguCYo/видео.html taking off from KSAN and starting from a standing position rather than beginning the takeoff roll from the taxiway. No brake holding, just pushing the thrust levers up to T.O. power. Rotation speed was around 140 mph and that comes less than 15 seconds from start of the takeoff roll.

    • @propagandaaccount

      A quick left off at taxiway Q would have been and awesome achievement - especially with the 770' displaced threshold and quartering tailwind gusting 20kts + 😳😄!!! Pretty common at TEB to land with some tailwind component on 19. NY literally has to turn around arrival ops at JFK, EWR, and LGA to cause TEB to switch to 6 or 6 circle 1. What a crazy place! That being said - I'd rather be in a Challenger 350 than any other business jet when landing in any conditions. Best TRs ever! Thanks for watching 👍

    Does the Challenger 350 have an autothrottle? I've always had this doubt..

    • @larrysmith1851

      No autothrottle in the 300 or 350. There's talk of adding it to future versions though.

      @@larrysmith1851No AT for a 20 million dollar jet? Can FADEC hold speed during cruise? Is it fully coupled during descent?

    • @larrysmith1851
      @larrysmith1851 4 года назад

      Blazingspitfire There’s a feature called ‘Mach Hold’ that works with FADEC to maintain selected Mach (within limits) during cruise. All other times I’m on the throttles. After flying this airplane for more than 3.5 years, you develop a sense for what power settings work in cruise or descent. During climb we just set climb power and pitch for target climb speed (280 KIAS to FL300, 270 KIAS to FL360, and .80 Mach above FL360). Works for me! Remember to be sure you’re watching theses vids in at least 1080p!

    • @larrysmith1851
      @larrysmith1851 5 лет назад

      Sync switch syncs the command bars to the current vertical mode (pitch, vertical speed, or IAS/MACH). This is pretty much my standard technique when hand flying. Switch should be on the left horn of the yoke like most other aircraft, but for some silly reason they put in on the right side! Literally my only major issue with the 350!!!

    • @larrysmith1851
      @larrysmith1851 5 лет назад

      Supposed to be the fastest time to climb of any business jet - don't have Global 6000 specs, but the 5000 can climb to FL370 in 18 minutes and the 350 can do it in 14. I'm guessing it out climbs everything else from FL410 to 450.
