Three generations out trolling. A special day!
My stepdad just caught one and they thought the fish was bad😂 they are grossed out by the color. Meat super firm and dense whe cutting into portions. My pitbull and i gonna be eating good for a month😂😂
Where I live in British Columbia, there are entire runs of whites. They are anything but rare. As far as taste goes, you can't tell the difference between a red and white.
same in NY. The ontario runs are always white
Cool video wish I lived up there we’re stuck in the dirt hi from northern ab
Did he say 1 in 10 😂😂😂 that’s not Evan close
They are white because they have a genetic difference in them causing them to not be able to process the red color from their feed into their flesh. Different populations have varying percentages of fish with this difference, and around SE Alaska there are rivers with up to 30% white kings, per Fish and Game. We may not catch any for quite awhile, then get into one school that has a lot of them. 5-10% seems to be the general average.
how does it taste?
Amazing! Hard to beat a wild King Salmon for flavor and texture. The white kings tend to be more mild flavored.

What depth is that at, and what's the bait? :) I wanna try this in Norway
For these specific shrimp we find them between 20 and 100 fathoms(6ft/fathom). Bait can vary, but we use leftover salmon and Blackcod heads from when we are fishing for those species, along with an attractant like fish oil or even canned cat food.
Are you in the Indian Arm British Columbia?
Similar scenery, but Southeast Alaska.
what are you using as bait?
AK DIY usually hang a salmon or blackcod head plus some chunks of fish and bits in the bait basket.
