Good discussion. I was the only black girl in my infant school (that's how old I am) through to secondary school. My parents regularly told us to be proud to be black. The hair thing is so real. I even have a school photo of me where I've taken my hair out of plaits thinking it will look all flowing like my friends. It did not. It was the only thing I was envious about. Good idea to reinforce the uniqueness and beauty of being black and later how to deal with the negative attitudes. Power.

I’m glad the point of black teachers got brought up It’s so empowering to be taught by someone who looks like you - even if the subject isn’t one your strongest you pay attention and that teacher stays in your memory and you never forget them🖤
