    This presentation is done very professionally maybe too complex for most gardeners , I have many years experience with natives and you lost me in the presentation even though it’s well explained it’s way to technical for someone that just want to know about resilient drought tolerant native Texas plants . You show those extraordinary landscapes at the beginning of the webinar without mentioning or showing any pictures of the plants . I stopped watching midway , Homeowners needs to see achievable everyday landscapes with lots of full size grown plant pictures to help them visualize the plants in their own gardens , not the fairytale gardens that is done professionally on a larger scale by professional landscapers , the majority can’t afford to hire this kind of service . I am a member of Wild Ones in Western PA , I am very active in my community I wanted to watch this webinar because my daughter lives in Hempstead Texas when I go visit I work on her Landscape , there isn’t lots of documentations on Texas Native plant species as much as the Northeast . If we want to help homeowners planting Natives we have to make this easy to understand , technicality keep it easy to understand and short , focus on lots of drought tolerant resilient plants that host the most Lepidopteras and attract specialist bees . I may be out of context a little bit here if a webinar can send this message out it would have a big impact and reach out more communities of all social levels . Thank you very much for all you do !

    Literally where are the plants on the roof what if like there was plaster of cement that allowed water to flow and then moss or mycelium to grow around. I wish more people would build in harmony with nature. Although congratulations for going the extra mile of supporting wildlife with your landscape . Thank you for going the extra mile to support creatures that matter because they all do big or small

    I plan on doing a matrix design under my 100' tall red oak. How can I combat the 1000s of acorns that will germinate with the matrix?

    • @amandanf5775
      @amandanf5775 Месяц назад

      That’s what the green mulch/groundcover layer of your matrix is for! It will eventually cover the ground enough to prevent most “weeds” or unwanted plants from germinating. A layer of mulch in the first year helps as well, as Benjamin said, while things get established.

    This is just full of good information about protecting and restoring good soil and how to include native shrubs and understory around an urban/suburban property. Keep in mind at least half of the plants mentioned are specifically for the Northeast and would not do well in the more dry clay soil of places like Illinois or Iowa. However, the overall concepts are vital to learn.
