I collect George Harrison's interviews. I transcribed many of his ones (for example this one). Anyone who also collects George's interviews and who's also interested in? ANYONE!?!?
I’ve been diving into all the interviews I can find the past year or so
@@alexanderatherton7602 Hi, happy new year to you! How can I mail to you?
@@alexanderatherton7602 Have you got the one with Annie Nightingale? It's two-hour one, but on RUclips there is only 5-minute snippet...
Great ending, even more abrupt than 'I Want You' off ABBEY RD! Love that gag, "When will The Beatles get back together again?. That bit had to be scripted. Also feels very Rutles - - just as The Rutles were being developed. "Well it's actually going to be on - -" I wonder if George came up with that gag?
Thanks for posting this. I had only heard parts of this interview in the past.❤
LOVE THIS! Nice to hear after so many years!
💜💛❤💚🧡💙
One of the best of Hari’s
Love this interview with George despite some of the typical questions he has to answer and the interviewer's seemingly lack of humour and going on and on when posing a question. Hard to endure, but well worth it to hear George's answers and good humour. This is recorded for the history of rock'n'roll forever! Thank you for sharing this for us all to hear! 💜🕊✨️
Really. I thought the interviewer was one of the best interviewers George has had. Actually asking about every single song on the new album. The making of and how the album came together and all that. Especially since it's my favorite George album I was over the moon. And about the humor, isn't the interviewers fault, people just have difference senses of humor that's all. Also thought the bit they did at the end was funny.
Love this..thanks
listen to a idiot
Funny ending
George and John I find. Their interviews are honest and they show us their feelings I’m allwsys listening to their interviews they can be funny you are both missed we have your great music 🙏
Hilarious ending
Slowing it to .75 speed better matches his voice from that period?
Such a special, unique person; who affected my life. I have no words; just listen to the lyrics, the music; His life. Hare Krishna
What is interesting about My Sweet Lord is the times it was written. Pop music was seeing a lot of Top 40 music with religious overtones. Spirit in the Sky, Jesus is just Alright with me. I don't know how to love him (Godspell). Jesus Christ Superstar, Put your hand in the hand. Day by Day (Godspell). Oh Happy Day. Maybe even Aquarius/Let the Sunshine and Hair.
George the freemason
Lol ok
He was amazing.
First heard this fab interview during Beatlefest 76 in Los Angeles.
Very good interview with George in a non-grouchy mood. I can hear him in the process of smoking - which sadly killed him. Lots of good information such as See Yourself being inspired by Macca’s TV interview from years before.
Smoking kills so many.
I remember hearing this on the radio at the time it was broadcast! Great to hear it again!
I do too. I just happened to switch on my radio and I instantly recognised George's voice. It was so exciting to realise that he was releasing a new album. I bought it at the first opportunity, I still have it and I still enjoy listening to it.
About the funny coincidences which led Harrison to write "Crackerbox Palace": 26:06 >
About the court case of My Sweet Lord: He tells that another witness, an etno-musicologist testified in the Court. He said that Harrison's song and "He's So Fine" BOTH sound like they've been taken out from an old 1800s gospel song "Oh Happy Day". 15:39 > :D

Jeff. Idk I think my daughter Joyce is in terrible situation. I don't even know where she is staying. Might be in Port Clinton Ohio. I think this man Paul got her out there with lies & lose pretenses. I don't know where but maybe her friend Charlie knows. But of course she never trusted me enough 2 let me know even phone numbers. It seems like others r living in her home which she worked so hard on renovating. I do think she put alot of time, working so hard & using most of her money plus credit cards to get her Master Degree in bowling green Ohio. & traveling to Denver, Chicago, California, Texas & Cleveland & idk, 2 be doing Door dash. I'm so scared 4 her Her son said something about her being in a sewer 2night. O Lord God, I need u. My kids need u. I put it ur hand I am small & helpless. Nothing is impossible 4 God. 4 God is God & Holy. O thank u 4 my friends in elo. I am able 2 finally open my mouth . Thank you amen.
solid stuff
i want to know his answer to the final question!
So u were on a first name basis with Harrison, a former Beatle, & part of Traveling Wilburies. I forgot ur name but u need 2 pick up a Bible & maybe open it 2 Thessalonians. Jesus is coming back & maybe at that time I won't know u at all seeing u really r like so respectful & loving. To the people alive Friends & family who miss him. OR MAYBE U REFER 2 MY DECEASED DAD & BROTHER who also have name GEORGE.. Happy day our sweet Lord will return.
Don't say fall George, it's autumn. Nothing worse than an Englishman giving in to the disgusting language known as American English
George predicts DMCA! lol
He's interviewed by Mike Harrison of Spooky Tooth which contained Gary Wright who played on a few of George's LPs
I have this LP autographed. George told me I wasn't supposed to have that record
Wow show it on u tube ,
Harrison was a humble giant.
........hippietytus...funny
In THIS interview he's imagining having a computer that would tell the composer if the song is already claimed :D At 18:54 >
The very first time I heard “My Sweet Lord” on the radio (in my car) I recognized the melody. It wasn’t long before I figured out that he had lifted it from “He’s So Fine” by the Chiffons. And I don’t believe for a second that it was a “subconscious” thing.
In the Court, George said his inspiration was this hallelujah / praise "Oh Happy Day": ruclips.net/video/EfGDvDGE7zk/видео.html
@@MegaPlexy Yes, I heard that, and there is a similarity. But the song by the Chiffons really jumps out. Who knows, maybe they were influenced by that spiritual song, but I get the feeling that George wasn’t being completely honest. And keep in mind that the Beatles in the early days were on record saying how much they liked American black singing groups to the extent that they recorded some of the songs.
George is bending the truth about My Sweet Lord. He was warned at the recording sessions by Carl Radle that it was very similar to Hes So Fine. George dismissed it and paid the price.
I didnt know that :) Is there more info on that? Im on a george harrison binge :)
@@Jakobs616 I read it a few years ago in a book Behind That Locked Door.
From chapter 3 ‘How to sell yer book’ make shit up
He didn’t pay the price though. He ended up owning the bright tunes catalog after he counter sued for conspiracy against bright tune and allen klein
@@subg8858 George was so savvy. Love him!
Absolutely brilliant ending to the interview. Great SoH.
33 1/3…those who are awake know what that’s about….
George explains it at the beginning of the interview. 33 1/3 was his age at the time he recorded this album. But that's oddly enough also the speed at which the record spins at 33 and a third revolutions. For those that don't understand the Indian or Hindi language and Sanskrit I wrote this just to inform another commenter here a while back. > I wonder how many people here making comments from the Western world don't even know what the symbol means. I was married to a Hindu woman for three years in 2001~2003. So of course hearing and seeing much about the Hindi language and Sanskrit. This symbol which looks like '3's on the album cover, is actually the om symbol in Hindi and Sanskrit language. And furthermore the little curlicue to the right of the symbol and the dot above it that does not show here in the your type above, represents a crescent moon and star. Similar to the crescent moon and stars that is on all of the Muslim country flags. This is possibly a strange juxtaposition between the two different cultures that they both honor this special symbol in the sky when it happens to appear, at the new crescent moon in the Western evening sky, or the waning crescent moon in the Eastern morning sky, which may have a bright star or planet near it at times as the moon progresses in its monthly 29 1/2 day revolution around the Earth, [almost but not quite a 30-day month on the modern.] In both of these cultures which have tremendous differences each also has a similar belief, whether religious or cultural, that when this conjunction of the Moon and a bright star [or planet] in the sky appears near the Crescent Moon, this signifies that something is going to happen. I also happen to be a semi-professional astronomer for most of my life, lecturing and teaching the subject in local schools and universities here in my hometown of Portland Oregon, and I provide thousands of hours of Public Service sidewalk astronomy with large telescopes set up in popular public places to allow the public to observe through for free, over the past 25 years, but I've actually been providing this since I was in my late teens as a hobby, so I tend to notice these things, after meeting and talking to thousands of people from different cultures around the world. Not only George, but all of the Beatles were adding little hidden symbolisms and metaphors and aphorisms into their music that much of the popular music world fans listening, were not even aware of. This is some of the hidden beauty that's behind their creativity and music for nearly 10 years, you can see a lot of this being exposed in the new documentary that's been edited and beautifully reproduced by Peter Jackson. The Get Back documentary contains many hidden and revealed secrets throughout its full 8 hours, if you watch it all. Including the original director of it Michael Lindsey-Hogg, who it is believed is the son of Orson Welles. Watch the document for you if you get a chance you'll be amazed at how much is revealed and very special moments and scenes within the film. There are many surprises, and it's not just about the Beatles. For example one morning they're up early in the old dark cold Twickenham Warehouse, and Paul and John are playing Django Reinhardt style guitars, mocking the opening music from the late 1940s movie, The Third Man starring Orson Welles. In another scene George is shown helping Ringo right one of their last songs for the Abbey Road album as George shows Ringo on piano how the chords should change. It turns out that all four of them were actually amazing geniuses in songwriting, and understanding Music Theory, without even being able to write it or read it.
33...hahahaha...33 levels of free masonry...that ain't about how old he was...or the speed of the music...free masonry all day.
He wasn’t a freemason though

Funny that George recalled the lyrics to "This Song" wrong when he says "nothing Tricky about it" when the actual lyrics were nothing Bright about it... Bright Music being the publishing company using George.
The first lyrics to the song are "This song has nothing tricky about it." He recalled his own song correctly. The part about "Bright" comes later in the song.
I love 33 & 1/3. It was a return to form after two rather downbeat and depressing albums. He sounds happy and reconciled with life. George embraces the funky sounds of the mid seventies that he had started dabbling with in Dark Horse. His guitar playing was his most inspired to date since Living In The Material World.
For me, it's equal, if not very different, to ATMP
I love 33 and a third. It was a real return to form after the previous two albums which had their moments but were generally underwhelming. 33 & a Third and George Harrison (1979) are two of my favourite albums in the entire catalogue of the Beatles.
George's studio albums from best to worst: 1. All Things Must Pass. 2. Living In The Material World. 3. Cloud 9. 4. Thirty Three And 1/3. 5. Brainwashed. 6. George Harrison. 7. Gone Troppo. 8. Wonderwall. 9. Dark Horse. 10. Somewhere In England. 11. Extra Texture. 12. Electronic Sound
Gone Troppo was sub par
@@josephwirtel8765 Gone Troppo is a very good album, ceratinly better than Extra Texture and Somewher In England. It's a fun listen with catchy melodies a positive vibe and great musicianship. Maligned by the same people who used to say that Ram was a bad album.
Dark Horse I'd put 3rd
No way dude, Brainwashed has got to be No. 2. So sincere and personal, especially Stuck Inside a Cloud
Good list. ATMP is my favorite album of all time.
I love George’s speaking tone and accent. Otherwise, he’s seems to be a such an intelligent person altogether. Mind you he’s only 3/ years old when this interview took place.
Fantastic album
I LOVE this.😃💖 Thank you.
