Why is this piano piece so "unknown"? For me it is a perfect one. Okay, maybe the movie "Diva" has fallen out of time, but "Promenade Sentimentale" is timeless - and so incredibly French, whyever. The delay in the original recording(s) is awesome, for me it's a part of the composition. It should find its way into every interpretation. "Riders On The Storm" is one of my all time favourite songs. Since years I wanted to make a piano arrangement. Now I did. I tried to consider all intruments and samples as well as Jim Morrison's vocal line. I attached a running score, it's quite precisly, even if some grace notes are missing. Mitch & Abby (Dave Grusin) - piano solo

This is a more precise transcription than the official one you can buy (Hal Leonard Edition). Unfortunately still some notes are missing. I don't know how Dave Grusin originally performed that tune, either his hands are much taller than mine, or he did some overdubs (I heavily guess on overdubs). My hand set is funny, I know, but it works fine for me - and it gives me almost every note required...

This is a transcription of "Schu's Blues" from the 1984 Spyro Gyra "Access All Areas" album. At about 3min 45sec the band comes in, from then on it's my own piano arrangement, to make it a piano solo tune. I'm still following Tom Schuman's solo idea quite precisely. (practicing it to the level that you've achieved would be enough of a challenge -- but transcribing from ear as you suggest in another comment reply is unfortunately not w/in my capabilities, not in this lifetime).
Hi Richard, sorry for getting back that late after 6 month. I'm not the best in monitoring what's going on ;-). I asked Tom Schuman several times for a permission to publish the score. Unfortunately he never replied - really frustrating for me. Also the score is so complex, that I didn't want to do a running score as I often do. I'd like to (still like to) discuss the score with Tom Schuman first.

Hot damn! I bought this album the day it came out in June of 1984. I was a sophomore in college then, and for the past THIRTY-SEVEN years, I have been wishing I could see what this fabulous tune looked like when performed. You have made an old man's dream come true. Thank you! (My other piano dream is to one day learn how to play the piano and to learn it well enough to play this song. Seeing this video has both encouraged and intimidated me!)
Thanks a lot for your warm words! In my case it was similar: Totally fascinated by the the song, I first tried to transcribe it in the late 80ies - disaster, I was too stupid. My second try was about 2005 - disaster again, still too stupid. During corona times last year I woke up one morning and I knew, now it will work. So I started, I tried my best, it took me two months. Tom Schuman didn't answer me after telling him about my transcription, I asked him for the publishing rights. Damned, I could give the score of this milestone-piano-piece to everybody. Keep on playing Bill, keep practising, you'll learn this piece like I did... even if it takes time.

Thx a lot! Yes, unfortunately my publisher (notendownload) can't hold the publishing rights any longer since two years or so. It's fu..... politics with these rights, I hate it. If I sold or even let you have the sheets, I could be sued for violating publishing rights - unless you would be my student and I would write the sheets especially for you - but not even a copy would be allowed in this case. So I'm sorry, but I can't help you.
