Yeah its not like America where pedestrians have the right of way and you have to stop for people. Cars never stop they just keep going even through crowds of people its crazy. Its like playing frogger trying to get across the road and if you mis step, you're dead. I've seen like 100 close calls with car accidents and stuff but no crashes here. And you hear the squealing of tires all the time.

@jaymietreadwell Not so for the Skylon Tower (Ontario, CN). I've been there when it was calm, and windy. Same speed. The counterweight and cables are behind a shield, so the wind doesn't get to them. The ride isn't very smooth when its windy.

The ride was slow, probably because it's too windy. To prevent the cables from snagging on each other on a windy day, most elevators have a controller that will reduce the top speed of the elevator. This is true for that tower in Dubai.
