What's In The Bag?

400 Yard Bombs off a Mountain at Sunset
Просмотров 46Год назад
I was out on our property hitting a freezer bag full of balls off a mountain. I tried it once before and it was a lot of fun so I figured I would give it a try as the sun was going down. I also decided to aim a little farther down because the last time I didn't find as many balls as I thought I would and suspect they went into the neighbor's yard and were lost forever. Hope you enjoy!

Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro Impact Vision for Swing Mechanics

World Long Drive Finals Championship - Trackman Range Virtual Tournament

This is my first attempt at the WLD finals tournament. This summer, WLD hosted virtual long drive tournaments in June, July, & August with the top 50 hitters from the summer getting an invite to compete in September. I received the invite and decided to give it a try though I knew I'd would be a long shot to win. There were a bunch of long ball hitters from around the world with the top 6 going...
Titelist ProV1 Broken Ball

Generally, I hit cheap noodle or Wilson Chaos balls that are about $1 each off Amazon but I was hitting a Titelist ProV1 when the cover cracked. I decided I'm going to make a ball review video to compare ball speed and carry distance of top end balls to cheaper ones to see if they are actually worth the cost. Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro on a Cloudy Day - IS IT RELIABLE???

I was out hitting at the range on a cloudy day using my MLM 2 launch monitor after having hit on the Trackman. I wanted to see how hitting outdoors compared with hitting indoors on a much more expensive system. Judge for yourself if you think the Rapsodo provided reliable feedback on this cloudy afternoon.

Practice hitting the grid with a 6 ball set
What are you connected to? A potatoe? 😅
How did you drive it so far. Was it inside on a net or outside? I can’t get it to show more than 185 yards carry.
I was hitting into a net in the backyard. I had to return my first MLM 2 because it didn't work very well. If yours works properly, and you have it lined up correctly, it should register your distance accurately based on ball speed, launch angle, etc...
Hey! I liked your review and was wondering how the net is holding up after almost a year since this video. Also what is this “reinforcement net” that you are talking about ?
thanks for the comment! to be honest, i havent used it much. i did something dumb when i cracked a ball i tried to break it in half not thinking it would snag the net and it did rip a small hole. i use it with the reinforcement behind it so it still works fine but i generally go to the range right by my house so i dont sky balls off into the neighborhood. for the price, i think its a great net. the reinforcement can be found on amazon, it used to be like $25.
Nice! What are you using for data capture? ball speed, carry.. etc?
I use the Rapsodo MLM Pro launch monitor.
@@nookdgolfhow is it? How is it compared to Garmin R10? Also do you like that net?
Mine sags like crazy. 🤦
That stinks, Ive added a reinforcement net which makes it sag a little more but it isn't too bad. Im sure gosports will send you a new one if ask.
I've been looking at this thing. It's a simulator and not just a launch monitor? Have you had any issues with it? Also, great shot!! 😅
Well, I bought it on pre-order and was very excited for the first one I received but it was garbage with tons of issues so I returned it for replacement. I have been much more satisfied with the unit I have, there are occasional missed shots, mainly very bad shots, but I think for the price it is the best you can get out there. it does so much that I haven't even tried all the function in nearly a year of having it.
Do u have spikes holding the net I place? Does it move around?
No, Ive never used the spikes and haven't had any issues but it does not get very windy where I live. Just hitting balls into the net has not moved it a noticeable amount.
Not even close to the real views of number one. The hotel is right
Yeah, the graphic details need a lot of work...
"Promo SM"
Been there lol
Ok, so I won't need to teach you this new technique, you already got this one down 🤣
😂
With your old device did you hit any balls? Mine says my driver club speed is 90 lol
Do you mean with my original malfunctioning MLM 2? I did use it a couple times and occasionally it seemed accurate but I didn't have it long before I sent it back. Do you know what your driver club speed is? The average golfer is generally between 90 & 100mph, I've brought out the MLM 2 and let other people swing on it and usually they are right around 100mph with the driver.
@@nookdgolf yeah I just went to the driving range yesterday with it and it was really accurate actually. My club speed with the driver is 100 to 105 at first it said 90 but I started swinging a lot more through the ball so maybe I wasn’t swinging correctly at my house . When at the range I didn’t realize that I wasn’t rotating as much as I though so I’m doing some research on how to get my swing speed up. But yeah I got lots to work on I’m glad it’s me and not the device.
@@thedayhayfilms I've got a few videos I'm putting together that might help with swing speed. I'm working on better rotation of the hips too. It was pointed out I have a problem with early extension so I'm try to fix it with better rotation.
@@nookdgolf yeah I mean I realized from a video that shows how you can shift your body weight forward with your feet instead of the hips. You seem to use you feet momentum well
@@thedayhayfilms Thanks, don't think I've seen any vids that focus on feet during the swing but I know I have a ton to learn to get the most out of my swing.
whats your backspin rpm?
Hey Curtis, that varies... I have used the Rapsodo with the spin ball once to work on reducing spin and I hit one at around 1300 something but generally I'm probably in the high 2000 to mid 3000. I need to work on it a lot more.
Good work man...keep pushing!
Thank you for the comment! So what state are in if you don't mind me asking? There isn't many people into long drive in my area, actually just me as far as I know. Just wondering if you have any local leagues where your from. And thank you for subscribing!
You know how you swung when you hit it 370? Do that every time 😂
I wish I thought of that! I just learned a couple days ago what I'm doing wrong and can't wait to get out and change it. Gotta get a lot faster over the next several months.
@@nookdgolfgood, seems like you’re at the point where minor tweaks could make the difference. You definitely have me wanting to give it a try!
@@GoodWorksTractors get over here and let's smash some drives then 😁
@@GoodWorksTractors Oh, and wait till my next video, that one will really motivate you to come out. Nothing like a few 400 yard bombs off a mountain at sunset 👊
grats on 370! im just glad that i can keep up with your shortest hits hahahah shooooot, being built like flat stanley doesnt help but im glad i can get distance even being a stick man :P
Hey Brandon, thanks for the comment!! Well, some of those long drive guys are real long and lanky. I think it makes 'em fast. I'm working on improving my speed and learning new stuff everyday since I haven't been doing this very long. I've been hitting softballs until I golfed a few times and guys mentioned that the ball went a long way😁 It's a lot of fun and I hope you subscribe if you haven't, I'll be coming out with ways to get faster and equipment reviews as figure out what works for me if you're interested. I really appreciate you watching my video!!
I've also realized recently my lankyness is why I can hit the ball as far as most average golfers who are a few inches and 100 pounds heavier :P I'm 5'7" but have a 6 ft wingspan so i can generate a pretty nice swing! I subscribed, good luck to ya! @@nookdgolf
good stuff bro. I just managed to hit a 300 yard drive for the first time last week and I'm trying to hit 350 like you eventually.
Hey, thanks for the comment! Just gotta keep at it and spend some time at the driving range if you can. I'm just about to post my final attempt where I was able to put up my best ball of tournament. I'd appreciate if you would subscribe, then you will get a notification when new videos post. Let me know when you get to 310yds and what you did to gain distance.
Is the mlm2 worth buying now buddy?
Hey Garry, thanks for the comment!! That is a tough call and I think it depends on your expectations. If you have $700 and want a launch monitor that is pretty good and works most of the time I'd say it's worth it. I think it is the best monitor under $1000 but you will also have to pay $200/yr to keep full functionality. As long as you understand there will be frustrating days with it and are ok with that, it's a pretty good monitor.
Hey. If you’re looking for a suggestion, try this: put the ball an inch or two back in your stance, keep your club head aligned to the target at address, then swing with a normal in to out process. Maybe…
Haha! Thanks mom.
You and I have very similar swings. I changed over the last few years to also really work on elbow in, but I noticed at times I'm quick and open up the front shoulder a little soon and still slice even when trying to be inside out on swing. I noticed if I concentrate on follow through at target at impact it helps, but still happens to me more than I wish. Not an expert just an extended family member who enjoys your videos and wishes you the best. Let us know if you ever do an event back in Michigan. It would be fun to come to it.
@rcchan7618 Hey, thanks for the comment!! I'm working on making a lot of changes to my swing and it feels weird like they are significant but on video it doesn't look like I'm really doing much differently. It is more difficult to hit the ball when thinking of trying to do something physically and really makes me realize how just a fraction of an inch makes so much difference in this game.
You don’t watch Kyle burkshires speed tips do you
@thedayhayfilms I have watched many of Kyle's videos on speed but can't say if I've seen what you are alluding to? If you watch all the best long drivers, you'll notice they all swing very differently. I am working on a video where I implement mechanics found in Birkshire and Justin James swings to increase speed. since each body is different, each swing is like a fingerprint, everyone has to find what works best individually for them to generate speed.
@@nookdgolf no him and Deshambo explain that if you extend at the top of the back swing you create more power… you wrap your arm around your neck which is the opposite of what they recommend…
@@nookdgolf they also recommend to turn your back to the target and start the forward momentum as the back swing is still going back
@@thedayhayfilms Would you happen to have the link to the video? I'd like to see what you mean by "extend". I know I need to work on being more dynamic to create a more explosive swing and that has been my focus the last couple weeks. I don't have Kyle's flexibility to keep the left arm straight and raise it way back over my head but I am working on tempo and getting my lower body more involved.
@@thedayhayfilms I get that part and try to get a good shoulder turn but still need some work 😁
You should compare the Mlm 2 pro to that trackman
@thedayhayfilms I did film a comparison of the MLM 2 Pro and Trackman while I was hitting this round but haven't edited it together yet. I don't know if it's very good bc I had to place the Rapsodo in front of the Trackman so some shots didn't get picked up due to interference. I really appreciate the comment and I'll try to put that video together soon.
@@nookdgolf ooooh ok yeah trackman probably isn’t the best comparison I guess compared to the other expensive monitors
Can you do a what’s in the bag review
Ha! For sure, thanks for the request! I only chuckle because I think I bring out more drivers than most to the course. It's a little sunny today so I might be able to film it today, just takes me a bit to edit.
Costco has the same net for $250 right now.
Wow, $250!!! Last I saw it was still $80 on Amazon. Plus, if you rip the net its only about $35 to replace and there is an additional reinforcement that you can get for $24. It would be great if you subscribed and if you are interested I have several other videos where I use this net with more to come. Thank you for the comment!
Good stuff. Wish that simulator was easier to figure out, kind of a bummer. You probably had some other long pokes that didn’t get measured accurately. You’re making me want to give this a try though!
Thanks! Yeah, for sure had some bombs that didn't register correctly. Oh well, it was fun to fiddle around with it and learn to hit balls differently.
holy crap u smash the ball thats longer hitters on tour speed
Hey Gregg, thanks! Yeah, I compete in World Long Drive events. I've hit a ball 399yds, that's my personal best so far. I'd really appreciate if you subscribe and check out some of my other videos, I have a bunch more that I need to edit and post. Let me know if there is anything your interested in and I will try to make a video on it.

Thanks Justin, I used to play baseball many years ago but not I'm working on my long drive and compete in World Long Drive events. Check out some of my other videos and I'd really appreciate if you subscribe if you haven't so you can follow how I do next season in World Long Drive.
See on a sunny day it works better plus no rain
Yeah, some days it works great, other days it gives screwy readings but I just keep plugging. I use the Rapsodo a lot and if you are interested in it I'd really appreciate if you subscribe if you haven't so you can stay up on my latest videos using the MLM 2 Pro monitor.
It’s probably the lighting you are under cover on a cloudy day
It could've been that and I've learned you need perfect sunny lighting to get real accurate data which makes it worthless for half the year out here in the PNW. I do think it is getting better though as Rapsodo rolls out updates.
@@nookdgolf interesting
From what I’ve seen if you hit driver over 300 your screwed with this thing.
Well, it is dicey... I think it is certainly geared toward the masses, the average golfer with a swing speed between 80 & 110 off the tee. They are improving it and in good light I can get some decent readings but I think it tops out on ball speed and distance if you hit bombs it gets a little squirrely. For the price I think it is the best thing out there. There is a lot of functionality with doppler and camera plus the ability to pair with phone camera and play a bunch of sim courses.
The net can handle real balls? And what app are you using to calc your swing/record?
Yeah, all I use are real balls. I wasn't thinking when I split a titelist prov1 open and wanted to break it in 2 so I hit it into the net and the spin shredded it but I had the $24.99 reinforcement and Im still banging away on the same net at 190+ ball speed.
@@nookdgolf very nice. I found this net on costco (comes with a mat, foam balls, ball tray) for $250. Just ordered it. Might pick up the reinforcement net just in case. Do you mind sharing what app you used for measure your swing?
@@natet53 you can buy a $800 net, or you can buy an $80 net with a $25 reinforcement and replace the net for $35... I hit 195mph bombs into this thing, but live a life of fiscal responsibility 😎
What app/device are you using to calculate your swing speed etc.?
@@aisdhgaoi3qea That's the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro launch monitor. If you're interested I have a few reviews and will be posting much more about it soon. It would be great if you subscribed and thank you for the comment!

Is it raining? Sounds like it. That will screw up radar. Too much shit in the air.
Perhaps, its an ok launch monitor at this point as long as the subscription is free but I'll sell you this thing in April when it's time to pony up another $200 to keep any useful functionality.
Your Mom's cousin here in Flint. Really cool video. Did a little long drive in the past. It was fun and best of luck in competitions.

Thanks for watching! No, all the balls seem to be about the same. I'll be digging into that in detail in an upcoming video. Stay tuned!
How comfortable do you feel hitting a 52 degree wedge behind this... :s
Hey Derek, thanks for the comment! It would be fine, just keep in mind your trajectory and scoot up a little closer to the net if you are concerned about going over.
@@nookdgolf yeah, I plan on purchasing the garmin r10.. So hopefully I can still maintain some distance without launching balls over.
Why would you label the title “buyer beware” and then not even talk about it. Also the line in the middle of the frame is suppose to split you and the ball locations. Then it should pick up your shots better
Hey shamrockinfitz, thanks for the comment! Its buyer beware pt. 2, at the beginning I address that I had intended to include MLM 2 footage & data in my first video but I cannot export from my Rapsodo and I lost all the data bc it did not sync. I just wanted to show people how it looks in action. I will have to try to adjust the line as you recommend but there is a yellow box that shows up on that line and I just try to line the box up with the ball and that line is the center of where the ball should fly. I think it is call the "hitting line" or something like that and Ive attempted to manually move both the box and line with no success.
Its actually called the "target line" and it is lined up straight down where I'm hitting but I was generally trying to hit a little right of the line.
Yo this net has the entire industry furious using one simple little trick!!! NA NA BOP BUT NOP BUT BRRRRRRRRRRITNOW!!!
It doesn’t even last long enough to make a video about it haha
Thank you Kacey!
Have you tried putting the base of the device on something so that it is the same level as the mat plus make sure that the other balls in the tray are not detectable by the hit box of the unit. I have had one of these since release and have had no issues of significance, I don’t hit it as far as you, but it is very accurate for me and the shot shaping data has transformed my swing. Not tried it with yellow balls on a green background though….
Hi David, thank you for the comment! I was also testing out an Ernest ESB1 launch monitor that same day and did try propping it up on an upside down ball tray but it had a negative impact on accuracy. I've thought of bring a text book or something to put the MLM2 on but haven't tried it yet. I know Rapsodo is most likely working night and day to get issues sorted out bc my monitor seems to be improving in some areas. I will be shooting a part 2 follow up to my buyer beware video in the next couple weeks and posting it so stayed tuned. I'm expecting better results and few tips to improve the monitors accuracy.
Seriously LAMO EXCUSE! what he does smashing balls is completely different than. Technology!😅
Did you check the accuracy for your 5 iron warm up?
thanks for the comment! I did check the accuracy on the 5i shots and all seemed well. It is pretty common for the MLM2 to work properly for a short period then start malfunctioning. I'm working on a part 2 for this video and I think the folks at Rapsodo are working hard to fix issues because it seems to continually improve though there are still some problems.
I mean... if you're the kind of dude who breaks "all" his drivers (I've never met a person who broke even one), is it possible you may have somehow handled the Rapsodo unit a bit roughly, leading to the malfunctions?
Haha!! Thanks for comment Mark! I handle the Rapsodo like a little kitten, the drivers on the other hand.... I beat them to death : )
That too bad. I was close to buying one but I am hearing more and more stories like yours. Maybe a Garmin instead.
Hey Glenn, thanks for the comment! I have been in constant contact with Rapsodo, I have to say they do have good customer service but my MLM 2 still has issues and I will be posting a video this weekend as a follow up to this one. Ive heard good things about the R10 but I think Im going to go for a Mevo+ if the Rapsodo continues to give me problems.
@@nookdgolf Mevo+ is a bit expensive for me but it is nice.
it is nice and the price is slowly coming down. I figure if I return the Rapsodo and have a garage sale I might be able to swing it.
Driving is an art! I struggle to hit 200 off the tea , I create far too much spin !
Hey Garry! Thanks for the comment. Hope you keep watching and maybe we can both add to our distance off the tee. Have you ever just tried taking a nice hard swing without a ball and seeing where your point of contact would be if a ball were tee'd up, then put a ball in that spot and try to crush it? I know there is a lot more to it than that but sometimes I do my best when I have a clear mind, not thinking about anything but hitting the ball and I positioned the ball where I'm simply most likely to hit it...
How come you had to send yours back? I’m having tons of issues with mine and have been in contact with rapsodo for the last week trying to resolve my issues. I hope they do the same for me, at this point I’m really regretting selling my garmin for this thing.
Hi Jordan, I feel ya on that one... Mine had tons of issues. It would not charge, it started off being able to charge to 64-65% then it dropped to only 41% and by the time I made that video it would only charge to 34-35%. I could not update the firmware, videos and data would not export, it only picked up about 1 in 5 shots that I took... I could go on but in the end I just needed to send it back for a replacement. I hope you get a replacement that works because it seems like a cool product if it can do what it claims. They must be really backed up with customer issues, initially my replacement was supposed to ship a couple days ago but they reached out to me to let me know it would be next week since they are testing all the units in the warehouse prior to shipping. Probably getting a lot of returns. I'm going to press them to extend my 1 year subscription from when I get a unit that actually works too.
@@nookdgolf They said "the engineers are going to review my data and get back to me" so hopefully they actually do that, It would be awesome if it works correctly because I wasn't a huge fan of the R10. I'm seriously thinking about buying a used GC3 or something at this point.
@@Jord_45 I'd like to be able to test a bunch of different ones to see what I like best. The mlm 2 seemed to have the best features on a budget but if the replacement doesn't work I'm returning it and buying different monitors until I find one I like. I've been looking into the Flightscope Mevo...

Hey Chad, I submitted several questions in the app where it says "contact support". I could do a quick video on it since it seems a lot of people are having issues with their mlm 2's. Rapsodo responded via email to one of the questions I had and has been in contact with me over the last 4-5 days so I could process my monitor for return. It seems they are having problems since they are delaying my return to test the units in their warehouse prior to shipping them out. They said my replacement would go out next week. They are probably just backed up but will eventually reply to you if you are sending emails to support@rapsodo.com. I hope they get the issues sorted out...
