Any meteor asteroid or comet sufficiently large to be ELE would be visible by amateur telescopes weeks prior. It would be visible to the naked eye in daylight several days prior. Impossible to be a surprise.

I have so many thoughts about how people would react in real life. But I like this one particularly. After the pointless looting and violence, at the end of the day, there's no more you can do, other than accept how we all have a place to be. The wild animals ...
