Jazz Me Blues - Darkness on the Delta
Hey they all got a crisp 1000 dollar BILL!
That performance should be in the National Archives.Pure American.
Beautiful
❤BATERISTA COMO ESSE NUNCA MAIS EXISTIRA ELE FOI INCRÍVEL MONSTRUOSO FABULOSO E MAIS TODOS OS ADJETIVOS POSSIVEIS SÓ SAUDADES
Frank was a great Trumpeter and a Great Singer. He could have made it as a single but was loyal to the "Dukes".Died too young at 42.
Gene was in my opinion the best drummer ever.
That Jerry Fuller!! 😮
These dudes can jam!
hermoza rola ,,,compuesta por charly chaplin,,,,,
Fantastic! Thanks for posting. Loved seeing Edmond Hall with Armstrong’s group.
Anyone else see the Not Licensed For Use warning?
DYNAMITE!!! 🤯
Gene Krupa lost! Are you sh*tting me?! But all players get a cool bozo. Even the other drummer, hired from the musicians union just for the night. (The message said, "Dress nice.") Gene was a good sport. Not me.
Amazing.
Each one of these gentlemen is a sir! Nothing less!
Given the time frame, these men possibly saw WW1 or WW2, respect to you for FAB music!
I know what it means. I had every AF album and listened till I knew every sound As soon as High Fidelity and Stereo Came Out
The little Holton sounds good Jimbo !!!
Thank you friend ! (of Fance ! i have played With the great jazz organist RHODA SCOTT )
Lexie Assunto, Please sing at the upcoming TCU foodbank Brunch on 11-6-2022 !!! Please !!
Love IT !! ⚜🎶❤👍🇮🇹
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT ! I HOPE LEXIE IS AT THE TCU FOODBANK BRUNCH IN HOUMA ON NOV. 6TH PRETTY, PRETTY PLEASE ?!?!?!
Who doesn’t have one of these LPs? Keep it swingin!
Thank you Deano!
Thank you!
Mr. Krupa could fry eggs on those drums their so hot ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a wonderful visit to past performances of great love, wonder, attraction, even mystery. Old stars and they just gleam!
The dukes won? Whatever!
Yes indeed...and harold cooper was my uncle. He and my dad were the twins of dixieland in the late 50's and early 60's. A time long past.
King of drummers, he started it all.
While it’s great to see these guys going for it live, it’s a sad commentary that we’d do a show ostensibly based on music that came from the black culture in NOLA, yet somehow there are no representatives of that culture in the audience, let alone the bandstand.
We prefer to keep it about the music and not about race. That's what real musicians are all about...the music will always unite.
@@deanoassunto4118 : No one likes being uncomfortable. I understand that. However, to enjoy the music and not be cognizant of where it came from is willful ignorance at best.
@@Riddim4 sorry your uncomfortable. Music transends race.
In top-line jazz, comparisons are meaningless. Two different styles here, reaching different audiences.
good work friends!

Love the Clarinet and trombone of the Dixieland band, but they are a little slow for me...is that George Simon the George T Simon jazz guy author ?? Cool to see Woody Herman...I'm from Wisconsin too...!! BUT ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing mean Gene fly on his snare drum with his famous singles....and yes he's amazing on his solid bass drum playing...a great right foot...and supreme stick definition on his ride cymbal...GO GENE GO...!!
Very nice. Shame the levels weren't better adjusted. Her mic needed a boost.
Your correct but we were using a small hand held DV camera not of professional quality.
@@deanoassunto4118 OH well! There's always next time! It's great stuff!
@@doctorkazoo THANKS
Gene won! What a drummer.
You may want to watch the entire video....the Dukes won but you are correct Gene is a drummer.
@@deanoassunto4118 The best that was.
Soo.. who won?? I'm going with GK .. .
Well you would be wrong....sorry watch the entire video to the end.
Did PaPa Jac outlive his sons?
Yes he did out live both Freddie and Frank.
This was beautifully put together 😔
Thank you. There's a book in the works about the Family and band.
That sound meter seems sus to me. Maybe someone today can check the audience levels and compare. I don't think they would have had compression back then.
Hello Deano! By a lucky chance I've got a Reel-to-reel tape from my co-worker who found it in his grandfather estate last month. He knew that I'm restoring all kinds of older recordings - that's how I discovered The Phenomenal Dukes of Dixieland !!! This particular tape is Audio Fidelity AFST1860 - On Bourbon Street with The Phenomenal Dukes of Dixieland made in 1957. My research found that this tape was the First Full Stereo Tape in the format 4 track 7,5 ips commercially manufactured in the World ! Before diving in the long process of restoration I decided to find if a decent copy of this album is available - only Apple iTunes have a "remastered" copy in the lossless format - however it is very poorly done from stereo vinyl record and have more hiss and artifacts from noise reduction than the native scratches and noises on vinyl - so to me it was a no brainer to start restoration. Now my part is done and I'd like to share this joy of great music, talented musical craftmanship in full three-dimentional stereo quality. However most likely if I will post a video recording of a tape reel being played on my recorder - it will be removed on the copyright basics. But I want give it to you and your family who in my eyes are the only copyrigh holders. On the cover of the tape reel box under a photo of the band is written: "YOU HAVE TO HEAR IT TO BELIEVE IT!" No less no more - from the first note till the end of tape!
Thanks that's really cool. A lot of people don't know that they were the first to record in stereo.
Loved this band
Even Papa Jac only gets a lousy carton of cigs for being on the show? Sheesh.
That is kinda funny but he was probably told it's great exposure...lol.
¡Qué maravilla es poder ver estos videos! A Krupa y a los Dukes los conocí hace unos 60 años. Con suerte en mi país, Chile, uno lograba escuchar un LP. Pero, poder verlos es, realmente. una maravilla. Muchas, muchas gracias.
Beats american idol by a mile
Ironically, I finally recorded this album and Come To The Cabaret to CD the other day. I like this song so much, I added it to my Jazz Playlist.
Amazing version of 'Saints.' Thank you for posting this.
Tks Deano Before I was born!
Me too...my dad Frank is only 20 when this was recorded.
Que hermosa melodía, recuerdos de mi infancia.
